Super System in the Early Tang Dynasty

Chapter 74 The Girl (1) (3 Updates in a Row!)

Li Xingzhi continued walking forward, and the forest became increasingly dense and dark, making it impossible to see far into the distance. Various plants under the shade of the trees were tinged with red or yellow, except for the moss, which remained green.

The slivers of warm light that had been occasionally filtering through the gaps in the trees had now vanished. Li Xingzhi jumped up into a tree and saw that he had reached the shady side of the mountain. Further ahead was the entrance to a valley, which was narrow, winding, and somewhat dark, making it impossible to see what lay inside.

Seeing the scene before him, he suddenly became happy! He felt that he was almost at the witch tribe. Although the surroundings were cold and dark, he relaxed a lot and a slight smile appeared on his face. His previously heavy steps became much lighter!

He strode forward quickly, and when he saw the obstruction of tangled branches, he lightly touched the tree and leaped over it, occasionally doing somersaults like a juggler, looking quite excited!

After traveling for several more hours, the sun had risen directly overhead!

The forest, which had been shrouded in the shadow of the mountains, was now brightened up. Even a sliver of light brought joy to Li Xingzhi, who had been living in darkness for so long.

However, we still haven't reached the valley entrance.

He jumped up into the tree again and looked at the mountain at the mouth of the valley. It seemed to be very close, but he felt the same as before—even after traveling so fast for so long, he had not closed the distance!

He now truly understands the meaning of "looking at a mountain but running until the horse dies"!

The area we've been through so far is all hilly, with many mountains close together; once you see a mountain peak, it's usually not far away. But here, in the flatter area, you can see the mountain peaks from afar, but getting close to them is a real trek!

Seeing this, Li Xingzhi lost his earlier excitement. However, the bright sunshine made his previously heavy steps a little lighter. It seemed that he still had to take things one step at a time.

He dragged his somewhat heavy legs without resting, leaning forward and continuing to move forward in the most energy-efficient posture he had figured out over the past few days.

"what--"

Li Xingzhi suddenly stopped, his ears twitching as if he had heard something.

He ran quickly toward the direction from which the sound came. Before long, the sound grew louder and louder, and suddenly, the view opened up before him—a small river.

Li Xingzhi couldn't wait to scoop up a handful of water and splash it on his face. "Refreshing!"

He'd been incredibly frustrated these past two days—ever since that "dead man" pointed him in a direction, he'd been rushing along for two days, watching the forest grow denser, the miasma appear more frequently, and the place grow increasingly cold and eerie. He couldn't help but regret it—in his haste to leave, he hadn't asked how far it was. What if that "dead ghost" had been lying to him? Was he just going to keep walking like an idiot? Unfortunately, as the forest grew denser, he couldn't find anyone else to ask, and had no choice but to continue on his way.

The gloom of the journey was lifted when he saw the small patch of sky separated by the river! The cool water instantly washed away his gloom and revitalized his spirits!

In an instant, strength filled his limbs, and Li Xingzhi couldn't help but shout, expelling all the pent-up frustration of the past few days!

"Hehe—" A silvery laugh, accompanied by the clear "ding-dong" sound of bells, rang out.

Li Xingzhi, ignoring the water droplets still dripping from his face and hair, looked towards the source of the sound—

But then they saw a little girl wearing deerskin boots sitting on a tree, her little feet swinging back and forth, looking quite amused.

"%¥&*&*%……"

The girl mumbled something incoherently.

She looked at Li Xingzhi's blank, bewildered expression, chuckled, and seemed to have found something amusing. Her eyes flickered, as if she had thought of something—

"My name is Yue'er, who are you?" Her voice was a little strange and a little awkward, drawn out, with a girlish sweetness and her own unique crispness and ethereal quality, which was pleasant to the ear.

Li Xingzhi's heartstrings were touched by that sweet and melodious voice.

The voice seemed to possess some kind of magic, washing away his fatigue from the past few days.

Normally, the sudden appearance of a beautiful young woman in this deep mountain forest should have made him wary and cautious. However, for some reason, upon hearing that voice, all those thoughts vanished.

The girl looked at Li Xingzhi, who seemed to be in a daze, and giggled, as if she found the person in front of her quite amusing!

Li Xingzhi only came to his senses when he heard the girl's voice.

His solitary journey over the past few days had made him somewhat anxious, but the sudden sight of another like-minded person filled him with joy and a sense of kinship.

He quickly replied, "Hello, my name is Li Xingzhi!"

As he spoke, he waved his hand, much like how people greet each other in later generations.

For some reason, when he saw the girl in front of him, he unconsciously greeted her with the etiquette of later generations, as if it were the proper way to do so.

Just then, the girl suddenly moved and slid down from the tree!

"careful!"

Li Xingzhi was startled and quickly mustered all his strength to catch the falling girl.

The girl only saw a flash before her eyes, and the strange man not far away was below her, seemingly preparing to catch her. Panic gripped her, and she kicked Li Xingzhi, who was standing below with his outstretched hand, in the chest, using the force to fall to the side.

Li Xingzhi hadn't expected the girl to kick him directly. Although the girl didn't have much strength, she still managed to kick him back several steps by using the momentum of her fall.

"Ouch—"

With a heavy thud, the girl cried out in pain! Luckily, there was a thick layer of leaves underneath her, otherwise her little bottom would have been in serious trouble.

"Give me back my shoes!" Her voice was crisp, but with a hint of crying, as if Li Xingzhi had done something terrible and she was just a bullied little girl.

Hearing her sobbing, Li Xingzhi quickly looked down at her hands and discovered she was clutching a small brown embroidered leather boot. It turned out that in his haste, he had accidentally pulled the boot off.

He subconsciously touched his nose, then quickly tossed the boots he was holding to the girl, feeling somewhat embarrassed.

At this point, he realized he had actually made things worse. He had only instinctively run forward when he saw the girl coming down from that height.

"Ouch—"

The girl cried out in pain again!

Li Xingzhi looked in the direction of the sound and found the girl gently rubbing her ankle, occasionally exhaling a breath, her fair face covered in sweat.
