Super System in the Early Tang Dynasty
Chapter 57 The Boss's Appearance
When Li Xingzhi returned home and saw the dozens of chickens that had appeared in the coop, he felt a headache coming on. He naturally didn't give a kind look to the few proud little roosters that looked like victorious generals.
However, they didn't care what Li Xingzhi's expression was like!
A small thatched hut had appeared next to Li Xingzhi's courtyard, which was usually for Wu Laoliu to live in. Originally, according to Li Xingzhi, now that he had come, Wu Laoliu could go back home. However, after listening to the old clan chief's meaning, he thought about it and understood a bit, so Wu Laoliu stayed in the thatched hut.
Although he lived there, there was nothing Li Xingzhi needed him for, so he didn't bother with him, only calling him when it was time to eat.
The next morning, Li Xingzhi carried a large hoe in front, a little boy carried a small hoe behind, and a rather imposing big yellow dog followed beside them. Under the watchful eyes of the villagers of Wangjia Village, they walked towards their own fields.
Upon arriving at the valley, Li Xingzhi was immediately overwhelmed by the sight!
Everywhere you look is a vibrant red, bright but not gaudy, simply bringing life to the valley! Amidst the sea of red, there are occasional clusters of purple, pink, and pale white, and now and then you can see trees of pure white!
Azaleas! The whole mountain is covered in azaleas!
Li Xingzhi remembers that when he was a child, every year in the second or third month of the lunar calendar, the azaleas would cover the mountains. He and a few friends would pick the flowers from the trees and bring them back to put in their own vases. Occasionally, they would pick a flower and put it in their mouths. It was sweet and sour, and tasted delicious!
This was one of his greatest joys in springtime when he was a child!
Li Xingzhi recognized the purple and pink flowers; they were azaleas. Azaleas actually look quite similar to rhododendrons, but because of the different colors, Li Xingzhi could tell them apart at a glance. He also recognized the clusters of white flowers, but he couldn't name them.
Looking at the red mountains in front of him, Li Xingzhi couldn't help but think of something else, something he called "paozi" when he was a child, which tasted the sweetest.
The fruit was also red, and when ripe, it formed spherical shapes from tiny red berries. One had to be careful when picking it, as it was easily crushed, causing the juice to spill out. Even more concerning was that besides humans and wild animals, these small fruits were also a favorite of tiny, white insects, and the vines that bore them had many small thorns.
This stuff tastes delicious, juicy, and sweet but not cloying. Even now, when Li Xingzhi thinks about it, he considers it the most delicious and tasty thing he has ever eaten!
It's already April, and I don't know why the azaleas in this valley are only blooming now, just like the moment when everything comes back to life in early spring.
"Could it be that they were just waiting for me to come?" Li Xingzhi thought slyly.
He led Erlang into the valley and even picked a few red flowers that were growing out from the side, which was a small satisfaction for him.
They hadn't walked far before they reached their own fields.
Because of Li Xingzhi's departure, the grass in the field didn't grow as wildly. In addition, with the diligent care of Wu Laoliu, that honest blockhead, it was quite well-maintained. Except for the strange things planted there, the growth was even better than the fields next to it.
Li Xingzhi nodded as he looked at the short chili pepper plant that had already borne small pointed tips.
The potatoes and sweet potatoes had already grown quite lushly, and Li Xingzhi didn't know what to do with them, so he simply took a hoe and removed the few weeds that hadn't yet grown, and that was it. Only Erlang was still holding a small hoe, waging a final battle against the pitifully trampled weeds by the roadside.
After thinking for a while, he realized he had nothing else to do, so he grabbed a large bucket, ran to the edge of the pool, and vigorously splashed some spiritual spring water on it before starting to water the crops.
If the old clan chief saw this, he would definitely give Li Xingzhi a good scolding before he was satisfied. Didn't he see many people coming out to water the plants under the midday sun, especially since they were right next to the water and there was plenty of moisture? And if those "experts" and "professors" of later generations were to make a big fuss about why the potato and sweet potato tubers hadn't rotted...
Only Li Xingzhi, that simpleton, was happily engaged in his watering project. Once he had thoroughly watered the land, he looked back with a sense of accomplishment, nodding occasionally. Big Yellow continued to stand like a statue, while Erlang was digging around with a small hoe, seemingly doing nothing.
Just as Li Xingzhi turned around and was about to say something, he suddenly heard a rustling sound and a strange "chirping" sound behind him.
He turned around and jumped up immediately—
Hundreds of plump mountain rats, like "Japanese devils invading a village," began to ravage his field. They ignored the good crops growing in the surrounding plots and only targeted Li Xingzhi's field! The rats didn't eat anything else, but specifically picked at the leaves, especially those covered in water droplets, which they eagerly devoured.
Are these also here to welcome me? Why didn't we have these things before?
If Li Xingzhi saw what was behind him, he probably wouldn't be in the mood to think about anything else; he would definitely get goosebumps!
The water from those buckets soaked the ground, and fish, each one bigger than the last, floated to the surface of the nearby pond. Squabs of crabs, seemingly having planned it all, rushed out, along with a few small snakes and swarms of ants.
At this moment, Erlang was dumbfounded, and Dahuang was also facing a great enemy for the first time! His whole body was shaking, and his originally bright yellow fur turned into a brilliant gold under the sunlight.
Suddenly, a cry of an eagle rang out, and a large eagle swooped down. Just as it reached the ground, it suddenly stretched out its talons and grabbed two mice. With a flap of its wings, it soared into the sky, pecked at the two struggling creatures, and they were lifeless. Then, it released its talons and began its next swoop...
The underground animals were thrown into a panic by the sudden impact, and their formation was thrown into disarray.
At this moment, Li Xingzhi also saw the situation clearly. He grabbed handfuls of small stones and scattered them around. This kind of thing doesn't require any skill, as long as you have accuracy. It has a huge killing range, which is useful in the current situation.
He watched the group of rats, now recovering from their panic and becoming somewhat unrestrained, and was just about to unleash a few large snakes when suddenly, a sharp scream came from not far away!
Li Xingzhi looked toward the source of the sound, and the rats had miraculously stopped. The eagles in the sky were just circling around, while the domineering crabs were still charging forward like a suicide squad.
At this moment, a small figure appeared on a rock at the mouth of the valley. The shadow was long and appeared quite tall in the dazzling sunlight.
On the top of that small figure's head, a dazzling gold shone, like a crown, making it appear even more noble and extraordinary against the backdrop of the large sun behind it.
A strange aura wafted through the valley, and the valley suddenly became quiet, with only the "rustling" sound of crab legs rubbing against the ground remaining, which was really annoying!
Li Xingzhi didn't see that behind him, more and more rats appeared out of nowhere and all crouched down, without exception.
Da Huang sat down next to Li Xingzhi again and pretended to doze off, showing none of the imposing manner he had just displayed.
When the little creature on the rock got closer, he could see clearly that the little guy in front of him was none other than his family's Xiao Jin.
Normally, Li Xingzhi would have grabbed the little creature by the tail and given it a good beating. But today, for some reason, Li Xingzhi made no other move. He simply stared intently at the unfamiliar little guy in front of him, as if trying to see right through him!
