Defeat the system! Kiss my little monster!
Chapter 238 Mixing in
Yi glanced at what was on the ground; it was nothing more than the transformation and combination of water and ice. He provided the raw materials, and Shen Yi processed them.
"Hmm...we can give it a try. But don't get your hopes up too high, I really can only drip a few drops of water," Yi Yi sighed. "Don't even think about making a flood."
Shen Yisui slightly shifted his eyes: "Could you be more specific?"
"I've experimented before, and it takes about five or six minutes to fill half a cup with water." Yi rested his chin on his hand, then added to himself, "But it was all purified water, so it's normal for it to be a little slow."
Shen Yisui: "..."
Ruoruo had finished the can of food in his hand. The can wasn't big, but he was still young, and what was inside was enough to fill him up.
After he finished eating, he handed the empty can to Yi Yi, who glanced at him and familiarly reached out to take it.
He placed his fingers above, the long, pale fingertips hanging down, and soon drops of clear water fell from them.
Shen Yi listened to the sound of water droplets hitting the tin can. After about five minutes, Yi Yi withdrew her hand and said, "It's done."
Ruoruo took the can back and looked inside. He saw that it was already half full of water.
He tilted his head back and gulped down all the water inside.
Shen Yisui: "..."
Yi Yi leaned back against the wall and noticed the strangely subtle expression on Shen Yisui's face. He asked, "Would you like some? Bottled water."
"..." Shen Yisui sensed that they were both looking at him, paused for a moment, and placed an empty can in his hand. "Thank you for your trouble."
"You're welcome." Yi Yi said casually. He took the can of food from Shen Yisui's hand and poured him half a glass of water as usual.
Shen Yi listened intently to the clear sound of water splashing inside the room and couldn't help but ask, "Is Ruoruo your younger brother?"
Yi answered decisively: "No."
This is somewhat unexpected. Yi Yi risked being shot to raise Ruoruo, clearly showing how much she values Ruoruo. But if they are not related by blood, then Yi Yi's reasons for doing so are very puzzling.
"He was born an idiot here, with no father or mother to love him. He only gained self-awareness after he died and became a zombie. And then... other zombies ripped out his heart and lungs. Look, that's how they treated him."
Yi chuckled, seemingly helpless, yet inexplicably gloomy. "It's happened so many times, I've lost count, but it's always the same. He's had a tough journey, and I don't want him to suffer anymore. It's time to end this."
Shen Yisui blinked; he had never heard anyone describe a child like that before.
Yi Yi's words were somewhat ambiguous. Shen Yisui didn't know anything about his relationship with Ruoruo. Seeing that Yi Yi was unwilling to say more, he comforted her, "Afterwards, we'll go to the base camp. If everything goes smoothly, Ruoruo will get better too."
"I hope so." Yi rubbed his weak head, his eyes showing little emotion, and simply repeated, "I hope it works."
He weakly raised his eyes to look at the two people in front of him, but said nothing and hugged Yi Yi's leg again.
Shen Yisui didn't stay there long. He discussed the plans for the next day with Yi Yi and then turned to walk towards the outer room.
It remained inside, clinging to life, its orange-yellow light gathering and spreading outwards inexplicably.
Yi Yi sat at the corner, his gaze drifting faintly towards the direction where Gouqi Tiaosheng was, through a thick layer of darkness.
The ball trembled as it tried to escape, but its body was stiff and unable to move.
"Can you...see..." he asked woodenly, barely able to survive.
Before he could finish speaking, Yi Yi lowered her head and looked away. The movement was swift, as if everything before had been unintentional.
They stood frozen in mid-air, barely clinging to life.
He might... not see it.
*
The next morning, Shen Yisui got up early to prepare. He and Yi Yi had only made a simple cooperation plan, but had not put it into practice. So, he took advantage of the free time to practice with Yi Yi a few more times.
There aren't really any special techniques involved; it mainly depends on Yi Yi's abilities. Shen Yi's superpowers have improved, and he can now utilize extremely small raindrops, which greatly reduces the pressure on them later.
By noon, two or three groups of zombies, which had gathered, continued to approach, marching in large numbers towards the main camp.
A strange growl spread rapidly through the air, causing the ground to tremble slightly. Shen Yisui could already smell the deathly aura and the stench of decay in the air.
Weak looked somewhat nervous. He was a low-level zombie and small in stature, so he had an innate fear of large zombie hordes.
He quickly stood behind Cheng Jingyi and switched to hug her leg.
Cheng Jingyi: "..."
Cheng Jingyi ignored Nunu's actions. He walked forward, messed up his hair, and half-covered his face.
Shen Yisui was still half-dead; he walked erratically, and with some abstract expressions, he could easily blend in. Yi Yi had some difficulty, but he considered himself a top-notch actor; even with some zombie blood on his head, he could make himself look ferocious.
Ruoru waited until they were all ready before covering them with her aura.
"Ruoruo, when we go into the zombie horde, you need to change our aura to be like theirs," Yi Yi instructed. "We're all by your side, so don't be afraid."
He weakly pursed his lips and hummed in agreement, his fingers trembling as he gripped Cheng Jingyi's belt tightly.
Cheng Jingyi is a zombie himself, and his abilities far surpass those of these people. He is the one who makes the weak feel safest.
He could faintly smell the zombie horde from a distance, so he altered his own aura to create a similar scene and smell.
Soon, heaps of zombies approached menacingly. As Shen Yisui listened to their roars, he smelled an almost nauseating stench of decay mixed with the pungent smell of blood, which stimulated his nerves again and again.
"Walk."
Shen Yisui groped his way forward. At first, they followed at the back of the zombie horde, but the zombies ignored them. Cheng Jingyi then led them tentatively to squeeze into the center.
Their final location was easily exposed and made them the easiest target. Moreover, there were high-level zombies in the base camp who knew Cheng Jingyi. Their top priority was to conceal their tracks.
Shen Yisui felt that there were more and more zombies around him, and the road was becoming more and more crowded. Every time he walked, he would bump into the withered arms of other zombies, which were stained with blood from who-knows-who.
Shen Yisui suppressed his discomfort and followed Cheng Jingyi forward. After about half an hour, the number of zombies around him gradually decreased, the stench and putrid smell dissipated, and the surroundings became empty.
Yi Yi complained from behind, "It stinks! What a horrible smell... It's made my feet covered in blood!"
