Defeat the system! Kiss my little monster!

Chapter 220 Inside the Wardrobe

His change of heart towards Cheng Jingyi happened overnight; Cheng Jingyi was no different from the other zombies.

Since he won't make a choice, Shen Yisui won't waste any more energy on him.

Although Shen Yisui didn't have many friends in the East District, he left all his old things there, so there was no need for him to endure in this zombie stronghold any longer.

He found the game boring and uninteresting, and it was time to end it early.

Shen Yisui had already planned his departure by the next day. Cheng Jingyi wouldn't keep an eye on him all the time; whenever Shen Heng got into trouble, Cheng Jingyi would always find time to leave.

That was the best time for Shen Yisui to escape.

Shen Yisui had gathered information beforehand, knowing which day Shen Heng would come to see Cheng Jingyi, so he deliberately chose that day to make his request to Cheng Jingyi.

Although Cheng Jingyi hesitated, he eventually agreed to Shen Yisui's request. Shen Yisui took the key and, taking advantage of the lack of surveillance, escaped from the base camp via a side path.

The officers in the East District had already made secret contact with Shen Yisui. Following the information they provided, Shen Yisui continued forward and left the West District within half an hour.

And after that... he was shot and fell off a cliff.

Shen Yisui frowned silently inside the wardrobe. He had never thought about the events of his death before, but now that he thought about it again, he vaguely grasped some clues.

These men had been lying in ambush outside, ready to shoot Shen Yisui as soon as he emerged. Because Shen Yisui had remained in the West District, they hadn't had a chance to strike.

It wasn't until Shen Yi escaped from inside and appeared in their ambush that he found himself in the middle of the trap.

No wonder Shen Heng hated him so much in the book, but didn't take action against him in the zombie stronghold; he only spoke ill of Shen Yisui.

He knew the circumstances were unfavorable to him.

So Shen Heng changed his approach. Whether he provoked Shen Yisui in front of him or used Cheng Jingyi to put pressure on Shen Yisui, he had only one goal—to force Shen Yisui to leave the West District.

As soon as Shen Yisui leaves the West District, Shen Heng's armed forces in the East District can immediately carry out the killing.

Shen Yisui let out a cold laugh. He had indeed underestimated Shen Heng. After spending so much effort scheming against him, Shen Heng truly hated him to the core.

Unfortunately, Shen Yisui is no longer the original "Shen Yisui," and Shen Heng has always taken revenge on the wrong person.

Now that he has seen that Shen Yisui is not dead, Shen Heng has come looking for him again.

His purpose is self-evident—he wants to kill Shen Yisui again.

Shen Yisui leaned against the wardrobe door, thinking about the things that had already happened. He felt confused and didn't know what to do.

If it were just Shen Heng alone, Shen Yisui could easily deal with him. But with the other system added... Shen Yisui assessed their fighting strength and realized that he had no chance of winning at all.

Unless one can survive by clinging to life, one cannot become strong.

But this system of surviving by any means is always surviving by any means; it's better to rely on yourself than on it.

Shen Yi sighed inwardly. He sat in the wardrobe with his knees drawn up to his chest, and in the surrounding darkness, he could vaguely hear footsteps outside.

"...Shen Yisui?"

The voice calling him was deliberately lowered, as if intentionally concealing itself. Shen Yisui recognized Cheng Jingyi's tone of voice. He sat inside the wardrobe, not moving at all upon hearing the sound.

The door clicked shut, as if Cheng Jingyi had used something to prop it shut. Then came the sound of quick footsteps, the window was pulled open, and a gust of cold wind rushed in.

"Damn it." Cheng Jingyi cursed under his breath.

After that, there was no sound. Shen Yi frowned. He guessed that Cheng Jingyi was trying to use spatial perception to find his location, so he kicked the wardrobe door.

After a few minutes of silence outside, Shen Yisui sat inside. He waited for a while and was about to push the door open to go out when he suddenly felt the wardrobe door being pulled open from the outside.

"Shen Yisui." Cheng Jingyi's voice came from above Shen Yisui's head.

"..." Shen Yisui withdrew his hand, leaned against the cabinet door, and said casually, "What are you doing?"

"I want to ask you what you're doing. What are you doing hiding in here?" Cheng Jingyi reached out and grabbed Shen Yisui's arm. "It's dirty in there. Come out."

Shen Yi remained motionless, gripping the handle inside the wardrobe, silently rejecting Cheng Jingyi's actions.

Cheng Jingyi tried to pull Shen Yisui out several times but failed. He stood outside the wardrobe and saw that it was dark inside, with most of Shen Yisui's face hidden in the darkness, making it impossible to see his expression or demeanor.

"Are you coming out or not?" Cheng Jingyi's voice turned cold.

Shen Yisui withdrew his hand: "No."

"Fine." Cheng Jingyi let go of his hand, took a step forward, pressed his leg against Shen Yisui's clothes and squeezed inside, "If you don't come out, I'll go in."

Shen Yisui was pushed back quite a bit by the body pressing down on him. He turned his head and subconsciously grabbed Cheng Jingyi's clothes at the chest: "Get out, this place is too small, there's no room for the two of us."

Cheng Jingyi seemed not to hear him. He didn't care about the size of the wardrobe at all. He put his long legs on Shen Yisui's waist and abdomen, and then closed the wardrobe door after entering.

"..."

Cheng Jingyi was tall and large, and when he entered, he pressed down on Shen Yisui's body like a small mountain.

Shen Yisui remained silent for a moment, feeling a dull ache in his limbs from the pressure: "Cheng Jingyi, are you feeling better now?"

Cheng Jingyi was also in a bad mood. It was hard enough to hide one person in this wardrobe, let alone two. He curled up, his arms and knees bent awkwardly, stiff and dry, and he could hardly close the wardrobe door.

He snorted and snuggled up to Shen Yisui without any hesitation: "It's quite comfortable. Let's sleep like this tonight."

Shen Yisui: "..."

"Get out, Shen Heng is still outside." Shen Yisui's knee twitched slightly. "Didn't you say I was dead? Don't expose me."

“He’s not here. I found him another place to stay, in that building next door.” Cheng Jingyi didn’t move. After a moment of silence, he continued, “I know you don’t like him.”

Shen Yi paused upon hearing this, then smiled and said, "Really? You knew?"

"You almost stabbed him to death before, how could I not know?!" Cheng Jingyi said hatefully, "Weren't you just about to climb out the window to escape? If I hadn't found a high enough floor, you would have left as soon as you heard Shen Heng's voice, right?"

Shen Yisui raised an eyebrow slightly: "Who said that? I didn't."

"Then what are you doing hiding in here?" Cheng Jingyi looked up at Shen Yisui. "Shen Yisui, you're actually a coward."

"What are you afraid of? Shen Heng? Zombies? Or the military?"

The air was thin inside the wardrobe, and for a moment there was no other response. Their breathing mingled, heavy yet with room for relief.
