Defeat the system! Kiss my little monster!

Shen Yisui's voice came from inside the room. Cheng Jingyi turned her eyes to the side upon hearing the voice and saw Shen Yisui walking over with a trash bag.

He didn't eat much of what was inside, and now he's taken it all out.

Cheng Jingyi had no objections. He took the trash bag and said, "Follow me."

Shen Yi hummed in agreement, then grabbed the corner of Cheng Jingyi's clothes with his fingers and followed behind him.

"Why is your bag so much lighter?" Cheng Jingyi seemed to be teasing Shen Yisui. He held the bag in his hand and estimated its weight before saying, "Looks like you ate quite a lot too."

Shen Yisui remained expressionless. Upon hearing this, he turned to Cheng Jingyi with an ambiguous look in his eyes, and said in a rather indifferent tone: "I didn't eat much. I guess there are rats in the house."

His words were full of veiled meaning. Cheng Jingyi twitched the corner of his mouth and pulled the edge of the clothes in Shen Yisui's hand away: "Oh, then why don't you kill it?"

“I can’t catch it, it runs too fast and it hides.” Shen Yi said, then reached out and grabbed Cheng Jingyi’s clothes again, following behind him. “You’re walking too fast.”

Cheng Jingyi looked displeased. He heard the voice stop and looked at Shen Yisui: "Hurry up."

Shen Yisui seemed not to hear him. His pace was not fast at all; in fact, it was slower than before.

Cheng Jingyi clicked his tongue, grabbed Shen Yisui's wrist with one hand, and led him quickly forward.

After the two left, the room returned to its usual emptiness. A cold wind whistled in from outside, ruffling the plastic garbage bags inside.

All the food in the garbage bags was taken away, leaving only a few empty shells.

About ten minutes later, rustling sounds came from inside the house again. A short child crawled out from under the bed, holding two sausages in each hand and slowly chewing something in his mouth.

The air still carried the scent of the two people from before. The child ran quickly to the door, sniffed the air, and then ran down the stairs.

Cheng Jingyi found a new place to live that was some distance away from the unfinished building.

Shen Yisui didn't know the specifics, but he learned from Cheng Jingyi that the place was three or four kilometers away from their current location, close to the zombie stronghold that Cheng Jingyi had previously ruled.

Shen Yisui trusted Cheng Jingyi's perception ability. He followed Cheng Jingyi for most of the distance and found that Cheng Jingyi had been intentionally avoiding the zombies' locations along the way.

But he is the zombie king, so why should he fear these low-level zombies?

These zombies are his kind, and Cheng Jingyi can easily use them to return to the original zombie stronghold. Moreover, Cheng Jingyi hasn't lost his memory at all; if he wants to bring Shen Yisui back to the gathering place, it shouldn't be too difficult.

But he had absolutely no intention of returning to the zombie stronghold.

Shen Yisui followed behind Cheng Jingyi. After navigating several rugged mountain paths, Shen Yisui heard the low growls of zombies in the distance.

As usual, Cheng Jingyi changed direction and took another route to get closer to the location he had determined.

Shen Yi quickened his pace, listening to the sounds of the zombies recede into the distance, and suddenly guessed why Cheng Jingyi had not returned to the zombie stronghold.

Actually, there is only one obvious reason.

The zombie horde reveres strength and violence. After the death of the previous zombie king, Cheng Jingyi took his place. Now, however, he is ostracized by the zombies and finds it difficult to return to his former place, for no other reason than this.

The zombie king has changed.

Cheng Jingyi was seriously injured and his level dropped. He and Shen Yisui hid in a dilapidated building and barely survived.

The zombie horde won't waste time waiting for a missing king to return. They don't have much humanity to begin with; after Cheng Jingyi's disappearance, the high-ranking zombies will immediately welcome a new zombie king.

As the former king, Cheng Jingyi would inevitably be ostracized and abandoned.

Shen Yi lowered his eyes. To this day, he still didn't know why Cheng Jingyi had appeared beside him. Nor did he know what earth-shattering changes had occurred outside in the dozen or so hours after his death.

"Cheng Jingyi, where are you going next?" Shen Yisui suddenly asked.

Cheng Jingyi didn't stop. He grabbed Shen Yisui's wrist, his purpose now clear: "West District."

The West District is a zombie hotspot, while the East District is now entirely under military control. As the former Zombie King, Cheng Jingyi would never willingly seek his own death by going to the East District to deliver himself to the military.

Cheng Jingyi's answer was exactly what Shen Yiyi had expected. He thought about his current situation and didn't know what to do for a moment.

He died at the hands of the military. The reason is unknown, but he was indeed shot by these people on the edge of a cliff.

Now that Shen Yu is dead and the military commander has been replaced, if Shen Yi were to return with this dead body, he would most likely be mistaken for a zombie and have his head pierced.

“You’re coming back to the West District with me.” Cheng Jingyi’s voice suddenly rang out from the side. He was never very patient, and after speaking, he pinched Shen Yisui’s wrist with his fingernail as a warning.

Shen Yisui's eyes widened slightly, and he said honestly, "I don't have much fighting ability, and I can't outrun others. If I go with you there, we might get eaten by zombies. So... are you sure you want to drag me along?"

“They can’t eat you.” Cheng Jingyi gripped Shen Yisui’s wrist tightly, her tone inexplicably confident.

Shen Yi raised an eyebrow: "Really? Why?"

"Because I will eat you before they eat you."

"There won't even be any bones left; they won't get any."

Shen Yisui: "..."

He's completely out of his mind; talking to him is a complete waste of time.

Shen Yisui remained expressionless. His wrist was tightly gripped by Cheng Jingyi, and he couldn't pull it back. For the rest of the journey, he simply shut his mouth and didn't utter a word.

Cheng Jingyi led Shen Yisui quickly across the dilapidated cement road. He sensed the layout of the surrounding buildings and sorted out the activities of all people and zombies within a radius of several hundred meters.

"Walk in front of me, don't look back, just keep walking forward." Cheng Jingyi suddenly stopped, as if sensing something, and grabbed Shen Yisui, pushing him forward abruptly.

Shen Yi staggered forward a few steps. Just as Cheng Jingyi's voice fell into his ears, a gunshot rang out from not far away.

The bullet pierced through the garbage bag covering Shen Yisui's head, narrowly missing his cheek. It grazed his skin, sending a burning pain through his face.

"Target locked. Following orders from higher command, concentrate firepower to eliminate the former."

"A target resembling Shen Yisui has been spotted. Shoot him immediately... Target..."

Cheng Jingyi shoved the entire garbage bag he was holding into Shen Yisui's hands. He crushed a few bullets with his mental power and said to Shen Yisui, "You go first. I told you the route: keep going straight, then turn left. There are high-level zombies there, so be careful..."
