Chapter 105 The Corpse in the Coffin

Adrian stared at it for a few seconds. This type of black crystal looked thin and transparent, but it was actually incredibly hard and difficult to see. Adrian observed it from above for a while, but couldn't see what was inside the black crystal.

This is an empty coffin.

Adrian had heard of the crystal coffin before. The coffin that the Insect Emperor had specially crafted for himself had cost millions of insect power.

Every insect on the verge of death fears its demise. The Insect Emperor, believing himself to have accomplished great feats, emptied all the oxygen from the coffin he built to better preserve his remains.

Pure black crystals buried thousands of meters below the surface of the ocean are believed to have the effect of relieving pain and preserving the body of a corpse for thousands of years without decay.

In the first few years, the Insect Emperor tried to treat his hidden illness with black crystals, but the effect was minimal. Now, he used these black crystals to build himself a giant coffin.

Black crystal cannot cure all diseases, but it can certainly preserve corpses. Adrian was certain of this.

After ascending the throne in his previous life, he placed Maurice's body in a black crystal coffin. Even as Adrian lay dying, no signs of decay appeared on Maurice's body.

At that time, more than a year had passed since his death.

"My Lord?" Maurice's voice rang in Adrian's ears. Adrian snapped back to reality and saw Maurice frowning at him. "What's wrong?"

Adrian withdrew his hand, took a few steps back, and said, "It's alright, this crystal coffin is just too big. It's the first time I've ever seen such a large coffin."

Morris hummed casually, "The materials and construction of the Insect Emperor's coffin must naturally be of the best."

“Hmm…” Adrian seemed to be deep in thought. He suddenly asked Maurice, “What kind of coffin do you think I’ll be in when I die?”

Morris: "..."

“I certainly don’t have the same treatment as the Insect Emperor, sleeping in this kind of crystal coffin.” Adrian put his hands in his pockets, his gaze sweeping over the surface of the crystal coffin inch by inch. “I just need a small coffin.”

This surprised Maurice somewhat. Adrian, the male insect, was picky and difficult to raise, always wanting the best of everything, yet he was surprisingly unconcerned about the coffin.

He chuckled: "My lord, why a small coffin? A small coffin can't hold many diamonds and jewels."

“Why would I need them?” Adrian frowned and glanced at Morris. He parted his lips slightly and said, “They’re enough to fit you and me.”

Morris's smile faltered: "My lord, do you wish to be buried with me?"

"What? You can't?" Adrian walked up to the crystal coffin and stopped in the center. He gestured to Morris to indicate the size of his coffin. "This size is fine. The width should be about the same as this coffin, otherwise it won't fit."

Morris watched Adrian's figure. This male insect's tone of voice always fluctuated when he spoke, but now, as he bent over in front of the coffin and measured it, he inexplicably revealed a somewhat serious meaning.

“My lord, the lifespan of the Zerg starts at a hundred years, and you are only twenty-two.” Morris smiled at Adrian, stepped forward, and took Adrian’s hand, interlocking their fingers. “Before you look at the coffin, there are many things we need to do together.”

Adrian's fingertips were slightly cool, and his eyelashes fluttered as he saw Maurice place his palm on his abdomen.

“For example, raising a few baby insects,” Morris said softly.

The skin beneath his palms was warm, pulsating slightly with each breath. Adrian unconsciously curled his fingers, as if for a fleeting moment he sensed the breath of life within them.

“You’re really in a hurry.” Adrian tugged at Maurice’s shirt, then pulled his hand back and pretended to continue examining the coffin in front of him. “I was just saying, who has the time to build their own coffin in advance?”

Morris chuckled, glancing at Adrian's slightly reddened earlobes, and said nothing more.

Adrian couldn't discern anything unusual about the coffin for the time being. Six of the forty-seven rubies on the coffin had been pried off by the pink ball; some were removed entirely, while others were torn in half. The method was so violent that it left several deep pits and scratches on the black crystal surface.

Adrian picked up the rubies that had been discarded by those who had tried to survive, and said, "Maurice, these rubies..."

Morris, who was standing behind Adrian, seemed to sense something and suddenly reached out and pulled Adrian behind him.

The surge of spiritual energy from the outside collided head-on with Morris's. An explosion erupted, and the shockwave shook the entire ground.

Seeing this, Adrian quickly hid behind the crystal coffin. He bent down and secretly observed the situation outside from around the corner.

Morris, still wearing the blank mask, looked up at the sky and saw the platinum patterns on the female insect's wings.

He smiled. "Admiral Colin."

Colin, still in his military uniform, flapped his wings, his blue eyes scanning downwards for a moment before stopping in mid-air: "You dare to steal from the imperial tombs? You're asking for death."

Upon hearing this, Adrian glanced at the rubies he was holding, paused for a few seconds, and then stuffed all the rubies into his jacket pocket.

Morris pressed his mask to his face, and without uttering a word, he caught the mental spikes that Colin had thrown down from above.

Several more explosions rang out. Colin and Morris flew through the confined space of the cemetery, their wings carving cracks into the walls behind them.

Colin looked at the wings behind Morris. Morris's wings were all black, covered with a layer of black and gold patterns.

Colin slowly furrowed his brow.

Adrian covered his head and hid around the corner. The battle above was fierce, with boulders constantly falling down. Fortunately, Morris and Colin were concerned about the crystal coffin and moved the fighting to the edge near the gate.

“Your Excellency, His Majesty has received news that he has arrived near the Imperial Mausoleum.” Fabian’s voice suddenly came through the miniature earpiece worn by Adrian. “The Tenth Army and Sean have rendezvoused and entered the cemetery ahead of schedule.”

Adrian covered his right ear and said, "Okay, let's go now."

The sound from the miniature earphone vanished instantly, along with the electrical hum.

The rubble above was still falling. Adrian, clinging to the wall, found the escape location that Morris had told him about and used his mental power to blast open the entire stone wall.

He whistled at Maurice and went first into the hidden passage concealed by the stone wall. Seeing this, Maurice quickly descended, and as he left, he yanked open the crystal coffin beneath.

Colin followed closely behind. His eyes flickered, and he immediately turned his mental energy to catch the crystal coffin that was falling downwards.

It was a few seconds too late. The crystal coffin struck the ground with a heavy thud, and most of the coffin was smashed apart.

Dust rose from the cave, and Colin was nearly cut on the cheek by a splash of crystal shards. He stopped in front of the crystal coffin, his expression growing cold.

The arriving army had already stopped near the cemetery. Colin was about to go out when he suddenly heard a shattering sound coming from the crystal coffin.

Colin stopped and turned around, seeing a corpse fall out of the half-cracked crystal coffin.
