Chapter 419 A Sense of Urgency in My Heart
"Who are you?" Her voice was weak, as if bound by an invisible force, unable to break free.
Huang Feipeng felt a chill run down his spine as he carefully examined her face. He seemed to recognize her from a news report. She was one of the missing girls, named Xiaoya. She was weak, her face filled with fear and helplessness. Feipeng instinctively felt that a greater secret was hidden here. He didn't answer, but instead asked in a low voice, "How did you get here?"
Xiaoya trembled, as if trying to recall, "I...I don't know. I remember coming to this hotel, but what happened after that...I only remember a strong dizziness, and when I woke up I found myself here." Her eyes were filled with despair, as if seeking relief.
Huang Feipeng's heart tightened; he knew he had to get her out of this eerie room as soon as possible. Just as he was about to pull Xiaoya away, a low, guttural laugh echoed in his ears, like a chilling wind sweeping through the room, sending shivers down his spine. Feipeng immediately turned around, flashlight clutched in his hand, bracing himself for any potential danger.
He saw a figure, blurry but tall and sinister, slowly approaching. Fei Peng knew things were far more complicated than he'd imagined. He shielded Xiao Ya behind him, warily watching the approaching figure, ready to react to any sudden attack. At the same time, all the clues in the disappearance case flashed through his mind; it seemed this journey through the city was not just a simple escape, but a life-or-death struggle.
“None of you can escape!” the shadowy figure whispered, his voice carrying an undeniable threat. Huang Feipeng's heart skipped a beat; he realized that the enemy before him was definitely not simple and was clearly inextricably linked to the disappearance case. The tension in the air grew even stronger, and Feipeng felt a sense of suffocation.
"Go!" he whispered to Xiaoya, knowing that only by escaping this room could they find the real answer. The two quietly retreated, trying to avoid the shadow's gaze. Just then, the shadow suddenly pounced on them, and Feipeng only had time to raise his flashlight, illuminating its twisted and hideous face.
"You want to escape?" He grinned, revealing a cunning expression, as if he were enjoying the chase.
Fei Peng's heart tightened. Without thinking twice, he quickly grabbed Xiao Ya and rushed out of the room, heading towards the hotel stairwell. Countless escape possibilities flashed through his mind, but he couldn't shake off that deep and dark fear. The stairwell lights flickered, as if mocking their helplessness. Fei Peng's heart raced; he desperately wanted to find an exit.
They ran down the stairs in one breath, but when they reached the first floor, they found that the receptionist was no longer there, only a tightly closed glass door, outside of which was a street with a howling cold wind. Huang Feipeng tried to push the door open, but it was locked. He angrily pounded on the glass, his heart filled with anxiety. Before he could think, the shadow in front of him had already caught up with him.
"Xiaoya, find somewhere to hide!" Feipeng quickly looked around, trying to find a safe place to hide. Xiaoya nodded nervously and ran quickly towards the nearby storage room. Feipeng followed closely behind, closed the door, and held the doorknob, trying to block the invasion of the shadow.
"You have nowhere to run!" A shadowy voice rang out from outside the door, filled with boundless malice. Fei Peng's heart tightened; he realized time was running out and he had to find a way to break this bizarre situation. He turned to Xiao Ya and said, "We can't just wait to be caught; we have to think of something."
Xiaoya trembled slightly, her eyes flashing with unease and fear. "I...I don't know what to do." Feipeng's heart skipped a beat, and he suddenly remembered every detail of the disappearance case. Perhaps Xiaoya could provide him with crucial information.
"Can you tell me what happened before you disappeared?" he asked in a low voice, his gaze fixed on her. Xiaoya seemed to be trying hard to recall, her eyes gradually focusing.
“I…I remember there were a few girls out with me, but we separated later, and I went back to the hotel alone. Then…I felt dizzy, and then I don’t know anything anymore.” Her voice gradually lowered, as if she was powerless due to the pressure of fear.
"We need to find the other missing girls; perhaps they can help us uncover the truth!" Fei Peng's thoughts gradually became clear, and he secretly made up his mind that he could not let this shadow continue to linger in the city, no matter what.
"But how can we find them?" Xiaoya's voice was filled with anxiety. Feipeng pondered for a moment, then suddenly thought of the hotel's management system; perhaps they could find the missing girls' room information.
Huang Feipeng gazed at Xiaoya, a strong sense of responsibility welling up within him. He understood that the situation was becoming increasingly dangerous, and he had to protect this innocent girl. Deep down, he also wondered if he could truly solve this shrouded disappearance case. He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and tried to calm his anxiety.
"Let's hurry, before that shadow finds us," he whispered, pushing open the storeroom door and cautiously surveying his surroundings. Though filled with unease, he knew that running away wasn't the solution. Fei Peng vaguely sensed that the secrets hidden within this inn might have some unspeakable connection to him.
He quietly led Xiaoya out of the storage room, trying not to make a sound. The corridor lights still flickered, and the paintings on the walls seemed to be watching them from the shadows, making him feel uneasy. Feipeng secretly glanced at the stairs next to him, thinking to himself that perhaps he could find the front desk or even some crucial information from there.
“Feipeng, I’m a little scared…” Xiaoya whispered, her voice trembling with vulnerability. She gripped Feipeng’s sleeve tightly, as if seeking reassurance. Huang Feipeng sensed her fear and felt immense anger at what had happened to her. The missing girls shouldn’t be tormented in such a place; he had to find the source of that darkness.
“Don’t be afraid, Xiaoya. I will protect you.” He comforted her with a firm tone, while secretly pondering how to find the weakness of that shadow. As they approached the front desk, Huang Feipeng vaguely felt a sense of urgency. Every detail in this place reminded him that they were not safe.
The front desk was deserted. Fei Peng's heart tightened. Had all the staff left? He quickly checked the computer at the front desk, his fingers flying across the keyboard, trying to figure out how to find any useful information. Xiao Ya stood to the side, looking nervous, glancing out the window every now and then, afraid that a shadow might suddenly appear.
"What are you looking for?" Xiaoya asked cautiously, her voice trembling slightly.
