Rebirth of a Top Student's Handbook

Chapter 89 A Group of Self-Righteous Men

"What's your name?" Gu Ze paused for a moment after hearing the name, then leaned closer.

"Is it someone who studies foreign languages?" Gu Ze asked, squinting as he looked at the name on his phone.

"You know him?" Zhuang Xian asked, turning his head.

"Hmm, maybe she's one of the students I taught during military training." Gu Ze had a pretty good impression of Feng Pinling. In fact, Gu Ze had a very good memory; he usually had a deep impression of people he had met even once.

"What a coincidence!" Yu Cheng looked at the two of them in surprise.

"It should be, and the age matches," Gu Ze said after a moment's thought.

"What does it look like?" Yu Cheng asked mischievously.

"Uh, it's normal, I guess." Gu Ze really didn't know how to describe her appearance.

Shen Ye couldn't help but chuckle to himself upon hearing Gu Ze's words. Gu Ze had the typical straight male aesthetic; in his eyes, there was only good-looking and bad-looking. Asking him to describe a girl's appearance would probably be harder than asking him to do 1000 push-ups.

"That means it won't look good! Zhuang Xian, I advise you to think it over carefully." Yu Cheng also laughed heartily.

"Do you think everyone is as superficial as you? I admire beautiful souls."

"Whether a soul is beautiful or not? I don't know. But I've heard the saying 'you can't tell a person's heart from their face,' meaning you can't discern a person's true nature even face-to-face. And you two, separated by an internet connection, haven't even met in person, yet you're talking about beautiful souls? Haha..."

"Zhuang Xian, you'd better hurry up. Once things are settled, I'll treat you to dinner." Seeing that Zhuang Xian and Yu Cheng had started arguing again, Shen Ye quickly interrupted them. Otherwise, if they continued arguing, they probably wouldn't finish arguing for three days and three nights.

Zhuang Xian, who was being watched by the three of them, coughed and said, "I'll try my best, but girls are still too shy."

"Then you underestimate her. She's not shy at all, and she's very cunning." As soon as Gu Ze finished speaking, the other three looked over in shock.

"What?" Yu Cheng asked first.

"I think so, they're quite good at forming cliques." Although Gu Ze didn't know much about the specifics of what happened between the girls, he could still tell what was going on.

Gu Ze rarely talks about girls behind their backs, but seeing how concerned Zhuang Xian was, he still spoke up to remind her.

"You're being too prejudiced. Just because a girl is popular doesn't mean she's forming cliques!" Zhuang Xian disagreed with Gu Ze's words.

To be honest, he really disagreed with Gu Ze's taste in girls. All of Gu Ze's girlfriends in junior and senior high school were just pretty faces and delinquent girls.

Zhuang Xian didn't quite believe his assessment of girls.

Seeing Zhuang Xian's disbelieving look, Gu Ze didn't bother to continue reminding him. He had already given his brother the hints, so whether he listened or not was up to him.

Zhuang Xian suddenly remembered Feng Pinling's evaluation of the instructors during the previous military training and couldn't help but laugh. This must be what they call getting tired of each other after seeing each other for the first time.

He really didn't expect that the devilish tyrant that Feng Pinling had complained about before was Gu Ze.

Thinking of this, he remembered what Feng Pinling had said before: there was a girl in their dormitory with a bad temper who was caught cheating during the final exam.

Zhuang Xian couldn't help but worry about Feng Pinling's learning environment. It seemed that even students at the Capital University weren't good students. He should let her move out if he had the chance!

"Oh no, I thought we were meant to be, but now you two might break up because of this girlfriend! Hahaha..." Yu Cheng laughed to himself after saying that. He was the kind of person who loved to watch the drama unfold.

"Shut up, you." Zhuang Xian glanced at Yu Cheng with disdain, even though he knew Yu Cheng was joking.

But she still picked up a glass of wine from the table and said to Gu Ze, "Third Brother, I hope that no matter what my girlfriend is like in the future, it won't affect our brotherhood."

After saying that, he drank the wine in his glass in one gulp.

Without a word, Gu Ze picked up his glass and drank the wine. In Gu Ze's opinion, Zhuang Xian's actions were completely unnecessary. They had been brothers for over twenty years; how could a woman possibly affect their relationship?

On the other side, Feng Pinling, who was playing the game, had no idea that all her personal information had been exposed.

Meanwhile, Zhou Min was translating a document, her forehead covered in sweat.

Since it was still early before school started, Zhou Min, feeling bored, thought about the trouble she had caused Teacher Gong before the holiday and sent him a message to apologize.

To everyone's surprise, Professor Gong immediately threw a research paper at her and asked her to translate it into English.

Although Zhou Min's English was indeed quite good, he was not an English major after all, and the documents contained a large number of technical terms and citations, which made Zhou Min's head spin.

Zhou Min researched and translated simultaneously. After working tirelessly for nearly a week, she finally finished translating the document and sent it to Professor Gong.

By this time, school had officially started.

Zhou Min checked the time; it was already past 10 p.m. She figured that even if she went to school, she wouldn't have time to make her bed or anything.

Let's stay home for the night and go straight to class tomorrow.

That evening, after taking a shower, Zhou Min looked at her increasingly pointed chin in the mirror and couldn't help but laugh at herself, saying that she would never have to envy those internet celebrity faces again, as she now had a pointed chin herself.

She seriously doubted whether all the weight she gained during winter break had vanished in just a few days. It seemed that studying really could make people lose weight! She hadn't lost weight before because her study intensity wasn't high enough.

Zhou Min slept soundly through the night and arrived at the classroom early the next morning, full of energy and ready for class. Computer science majors have a lot of math courses, and the difficulty level is quite high.

So even though many of the students in the class were academic geniuses in high school, they had to honestly fight for seats in college and try their best to listen more in class.

There's no way around it; the courses are too difficult. Without a teacher, it's too slow to learn by yourself. And university courses are very fast-paced. Once you fall behind, it's extremely difficult to catch up.

As soon as Zhou Min entered the classroom, she saw Zhang Kun waving at her: "Here, Zhou Min."

Zhou Min looked around the classroom and saw that there were no seats closer to the front, so she could only sigh and walk over.

She thought she had gotten up early enough, but the front row seats in the classroom were still all taken. It seems she'll have to stay in the school dormitory next time, where it's easier to grab a seat.

"What are you looking at?" Zhou Min asked curiously as she saw Zhang Kun looking at documents on his laptop.

It's no wonder Zhou Min was curious. In this kind of class, you have to pay attention to your classmates' learning progress at all times, lest you accidentally fall to the bottom.

This is also the experience Zhou Min has summarized over the years: in a class of top students, your grades are never determined by how much you study, but by the gap between you and your classmates.

"I don't know. Teacher Gong sent it to me last night, asking me to write down my thoughts on the reading."

Upon hearing the name "Teacher Gong," Zhou Min looked even more closely.

But after only a few glances, she realized something was wrong. Wasn't this the document she had translated before?

Zhou Min suspected that Teacher Gong's real purpose in sending the document to Zhang Kun was to have him check her translation errors. Otherwise, she would have just sent him the previous Chinese version directly. Why would she send him her own translated English version?

It has to be said, Zhou Min is right.

"Ahem, have you noticed any grammatical errors by now?" Zhou Min cleared her throat and asked.

She glanced at Zhang Kun and saw that he had seen about a third of the way through.

"Are you crazy? Who reads this kind of literature to find grammatical errors?" Zhang Kun rolled his eyes at Zhou Min and continued reading the text with his head down.

Zhou Min really wanted to shove the whole cup of coffee on the table into his mouth; you can't expect anything good to come out of a dog's mouth.
