Rebirth of a Top Student's Handbook
Chapter 36 School starts
The two-month summer vacation passed quickly in a flurry of activity. Zhou Min arrived at the school excitedly and expectantly to register for the official enrollment. Upon arriving at No. 1 Middle School, Zhou Min saw her class (36) in the class assignment list next to the school gate. No. 1 Middle School always puts the Olympiad class number at the very end. Zhou Min looked at the class list and was surprised to find that Xu Li was in the same class as her. She was astonished that he had never been to a school in the city. However, the slow-witted Zhou Min never paid attention to other people's affairs and forgot about it after a moment of curiosity.
After Zhou Min finished reporting for duty, she went to check her own classroom. She found Zhu Da and Chen Sheng at the door of Class 35. After asking them, she learned that they were in Class 35, which was right next to her classroom.
"Zhou Min, you got the highest score in our school this time. There are banners with your name all over the school," Zhu Da said enviously.
"It's alright, how did the other students do on the exam?"
"Everyone is great, but you, Chen Sheng, and Xu Like are the best. You are all among the top ten in the county."
"No way, Chen Sheng, you did so well on the exam too?" Zhou Min was surprised to hear Zhu Da's words.
"What? You look down on me? You're allowed to be in the top ten, but I'm not?" Chen Sheng was surprised to see Zhou Min; he was both smug and disappointed.
"Okay, how did Li Na do on the exam? I've been quite busy lately and haven't been back to school, so I don't know anyone's results."
"It's alright, I scored 706 points. Although I didn't get into the Olympiad class, the school selection fee was waived."
"What about Lin Xin?"
......
By the time the bell rang and everyone returned to their classrooms, Zhou Min had already gathered a fairly comprehensive understanding of everyone's scores. Everyone had performed significantly better in this life than in their previous one. Even those who made mistakes generally scored higher than their actual abilities in their previous lives. Out of 48 students in the class, a whopping 36 were admitted to the top high school—more than double the number from their previous life. Of course, many of them had also paid hefty entrance fees.
Moreover, Xu Li, Li Liangcheng, and Lin Xin all chose to study at No. 1 Middle School in their lives, so Zhou Min felt that even if she did nothing, the butterfly effect she brought about was quite significant.
When Zhou Min arrived at the classroom, she found it in a chaotic state. Just then, Xu Li saw her and called her in a hoarse voice. She walked over and sat down in an empty seat near Xu Li.
Xu Li had only intended to greet Zhou Min, but he was still surprised to see her come over and sit down. The boys around them started to tease him; although they were good students, teenage boys were still quite mischievous.
Zhou Min, accustomed to the ways of the world, remained unfazed, while Xu Li, on the other hand, blushed deeply at the teasing of the boys around him. Although he was rather flamboyant, his appearance and personality meant that all his friends were male. Zhou Min, being intelligent and outgoing, was someone he interacted with more often. Now, with everyone laughing at him, he was burning with embarrassment.
The homeroom teacher was a short, stout, middle-aged man. He glanced into the classroom and called away all the tall boys at the back. After a while, these boys started bringing new books into the classroom in batches, and Zhou Min's books quickly filled the desk.
Zhou Min took a look and found that it seemed the school had distributed all the books for the three years of high school at once. It seemed that the rumors from her previous life about how fast the Olympiad class was were true. Zhou Min was extremely excited.
The homeroom teacher was very serious. After distributing the books and military training uniforms to everyone, he talked about some school rules and regulations, then told everyone the time for the military training the next day, and then left.
Having already experienced military training firsthand, Zhou Min prepared sun protection gear well in advance. During the freshman military training period, all students lived on campus. Having experienced a long military training period in college, Zhou Min easily got through the training week.
After military training, classes officially began. This was Zhou Min's first time meeting so many top students. In her previous life, most of them were people she looked up to, especially before the college entrance exam. Zhou Min found that even though she had studied the material once before, she needed to relearn it because of the long gap in her knowledge. Everyone was learning very quickly, and the teachers almost never repeated themselves. They also rarely went over practice questions or exercises unless you asked them.
While Zhou Min felt the pace was fast, her competitive spirit fueled her even greater efforts. She had already bought a computer and planned to start a side business, perhaps becoming an online influencer.
However, the high-paced learning environment of the Olympiad class was incomparable to that of schools like No. 4 Middle School. At this moment, Zhou Min, who considered herself very smart, also realized that the reason she was so arrogant and always thought she was the smartest person was because she had never tried to meet smarter people.
In this class, Zhou Min discovered that intelligence was no longer an advantage; everyone's IQs were roughly equal, and diligence became the deciding factor. Zhou Min, who had never been diligent, began to feel a great challenge in this classroom, while Xu Li, who had always wanted to show off his intelligence, started to study quietly.
The school has two Olympiad classes this time, namely (35) and (36). Each class has 42 students, all of whom are among the top 100 in the county in this middle school entrance examination. Moreover, the school divides classes once every half semester, removing those with poor grades from the regular classes and assigning those with good grades from the regular classes to the Olympiad classes.
Zhou Min, who already knew about the policy, also started to get nervous because she found that the grades of her classmates were very close. A big mistake could immediately drop her from the top three in the class to the bottom three.
