"You only regret doing something wrong. Why should I regret doing something right?" Liang Qing also stood up, and the two of them were now standing face to face.

"Even if I am your enemy, you will still act the same way; even if I make that matter public, you will still act the same way. You really won't feel even the slightest bit of resentment towards me?"

Liang Qing shook her head. "I used to, but I don't anymore."

Yan Su stared at her expression without moving, seemingly trying to find any trace of her lying.

But as he gazed at her, his eyes were unconsciously drawn to hers.

Yan Su's eyelashes trembled, and his hands unconsciously clenched. Why did she always look at him with such gentle eyes now?

He composed himself. "Are you forgiving everything I've done and will do in the future because you pity my plight? You used to hate me."

"But now, I admire you."

Yan Su looked quite bewildered. "Admiration?"

A very serious expression appeared on Liang Qing's face. "Yes."

Yan Su was speechless for a long time, then his face suddenly turned red. "You won't look down on me, will you?"

“Yan Su, don’t always feel ashamed that what happened is your shame. The one who should feel ashamed is not you, but the person who hurt you.”

"You just said you've thought about whether you're too polite, too beautiful, or born with original sin?" Liang Qing continued, "None of these are reasons for this to happen, and it has nothing to do with God."

"There is only one reason why this happens: the person who hurt you is despicable and shameless."

"You did absolutely nothing wrong."

"Not to mention those who look down on you, they're all idiots. If they were even slightly smart, they'd know who's really shameful in this kind of thing."

Yan Su frowned in confusion, "But why do you admire me? As you can see, I am not a good person, much less a noble one."

“You grew up in such an environment, you have seen so much darkness, but your heart still yearns for the light.”

"You always say you're not a good person, but your actions always seem to lead you down a path of nobility. You see other people's suffering as your own. How many people in this world are like you?"

“You’re mistaken. I’m not like that at all,” Yan Su said, turning his face away. “I don’t take other people’s pain as my own.”

"If that's the case, why do you know so much about how others have been hurt? And why are you in pain because of it?" Liang Qing said helplessly. "For you, it seems that admitting that you are a good person is much harder than admitting that you are a bad person."

“Good people help others, but I don’t; good people love others, but I don’t,” Yan Su said. “On the contrary, I know all the tricks of bad people.”

"If you were truly a bad person, you would have chosen to push me out of the car that day to ensure your own safety, instead of getting off to ensure my safety; if you were truly a bad person, you wouldn't always be so soft-hearted."

Yan Su turned and walked into the house. "You're too naive. Thinking too highly of me will only hurt you."

"Then why did you tell me what you've kept hidden for so many years?"

The words from behind made him pause.

Aren't you afraid I'll tell everyone?

“It doesn’t matter,” Yan Su walked to the sofa and sat down. Using the dim light coming from the balcony, he fumbled for the cigarette case, opened the lid, and took out a cigarette. “Say what you want to say.”

He picked up a lighter to light his cigarette, but for some reason his hand kept shaking and he couldn't get a flame.

Just then, Liang Qing walked over, half-squatted in front of him, took his trembling hand, and said apologetically, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have pressured you."

Liang Qing felt very guilty. Even if it was to force Yan Su to face his true self, she shouldn't have used this matter to pressure him.

After all, he was in so much pain that he even shed tears in front of her.

Yan Su didn't look at her or say anything.

"Don't be sad, okay?" Liang Qing said. "I won't tell anyone. Even if you tell me what happened to me, I still won't."

"I wasn't threatening you, I just..."

"Let go," Yan Su interrupted her.

He finally looked up at her, and Liang Qing's expression showed some surprise.

“My finger is touching the ignition button. If you keep pressing down on me, you’re about to press it,” Yan Su said somewhat stiffly.

Upon hearing this, Liang Qing quickly withdrew her hand from his and said awkwardly, "I'm sorry."

Liang Qing's hand left, but Yan Su didn't immediately light a cigarette. Instead, he grabbed her wrist and pulled her to sit down on the sofa. "Sit down."

The two of them suddenly fell silent, and the only sound in the room was the clicking of a lighter.

Yan Su kept lighting the fire, and Liang Qing watched him quietly.

The lighter seems to be broken; I pressed it several times but no flame came out.

Yan Su shook the lighter lightly and pressed the button again; this time, a flame finally came out.

The warm yellow light illuminated his face as he brought the cigarette in his mouth close to the flame, just a centimeter away from lighting it.

He suddenly put out the fire and threw the lighter on the table.

Liang Qing asked in confusion, "Aren't you going to order?"

Yan Su took the unlit cigarette out of his mouth and put it in the ashtray. "I don't want to smoke anymore."

There was another moment of silence.

"Do you want a drink of water?"

"Can I ask you a question?"

The two of them suddenly spoke at the same time.

Liang Qing, who was about to get up, turned to face Yan Su and replied, "Go ahead and ask."

Yan Su didn't ask a question immediately, but stood up and said, "I'll turn on a light."

After a while, the lights were turned on.

Liang Qing squinted to adjust to the light, and when she opened her eyes again, there was a glass of water on the coffee table in front of her.

Liang Qing looked at Yan Su, who was also holding a glass of water. When he saw her looking at him, he gestured to her, "Drink it."

After taking a few sips of water, Liang Qing asked, "What do you want to ask?"

Yan Su pondered for a moment and then said, "Can you tell me what your feelings are for each of them?"

He didn't say who they were, but he knew Liang would understand.

Liang Qing's expression visibly became complicated. "Why would you want to know this?"

"The reason I'm taking revenge on you is because I think you don't value others and enjoy toying with their feelings."

"For a long time, I believed this and was convinced of it."

"But now, I can no longer stick to my ideas."

Yan Su frowned slightly and said in confusion, "You are willing to risk your life to save a complete stranger, and you would do the same for me, your enemy."

"Why did you act so outrageously towards Qin Zhouyu, whom you dated, and Song Zhiji and Su Heng, who were pursuing you?"
