Berserk: The Prophet
Chapter 326 Fairy Buck
Green frowned and pressed on, "Grandma, what exactly does 'unclean' refer to? Is there any way to resolve it?"
The fortune teller shook her head. "The cards are too chaotic. It's hard to know exactly what 'unclean' means, and the solution isn't shown in the cards either. Everything depends on your fate on your journey."
Jacob looked at Green with concern, "Young Master, should we postpone this trip?"
Green shook his head. "The itinerary is set, how can it be changed so easily? Besides, this is just a divination, it may not come true."
"Hehe, little guy, my divination is usually very accurate. If you're willing to listen to advice, my suggestion is... it's better not to meddle in other people's business, because you're not capable enough. Even if you get involved, you won't be able to change anything."
"The fee for this session is five copper coins. If you have no other questions, please let the next person come for a divination."
Green took out five copper coins and placed them on the table, bowing slightly as he said, "Thank you for the reminder, Grandma. However, some roads, even if they are full of thorns, you have to walk them to find out."
After saying that, Green and Jacob left the stall.
The fortune teller watched the two leave, muttering to herself, "These days, young people always seem to learn their lesson only after suffering greatly. It's not worth it if they accidentally lose their lives. There's just no way around it..."
The circus troupe had almost finished packing up their belongings; they were going to perform for the count that evening.
Even after noon, the sun was still strong. Wearing a thick blanket, Jiedu took out a birdcage and fiddled with it, while also lying on a few wooden crates of supplies to bask in the sun.
"Jetto, I want to go out and play for a while." The little man with two pairs of insect wings in the cage was chattering incessantly.
Judau glanced lazily at the restless little man in the cage and tapped the cage wall with his fingertip: "No, can't you see I'm resting? Besides, the Earl's performance can't go wrong."
The little man angrily flapped his wings against the iron bars, making a muffled "buzzing" sound: "You always use performing as an excuse! Last time at the market you said you were going to prepare magic props, and this time it's the same... You clearly promised to take me out to play when we came to town."
"I'll be back before dark, anyway, no one in this city can see me."
"No!"
Just as Judau and the villain were locked in a stalemate, Green and Jacob happened to pass by.
Green's gaze was drawn to the birdcage. Curious, he leaned closer and saw the little man inside. The little man also noticed Green, his eyes suddenly lighting up as he cried out urgently, "Friend, please save me! Let me go out and play! He never lets me go out!"
"Hmm? What is this thing? It's a tiny flying insect that looks like a person." Green looked at the little thing with blue hair, a tiny human body, and two pairs of insect wings. What did it look like again?
"Hey, the fortune teller's back. Speaking of which, you actually managed to see this guy?" Judau sat up from the wooden box, carrying the birdcage and the little goblin.
Green raised an eyebrow, looking at the little man in the cage with great interest. "Why can't I see him? This little guy looks quite interesting."
He reached out and gently poked the cage, and the little goblin immediately clung to it excitedly, its wings flapping even faster.
Jiedu narrowed his eyes. "Ordinary people can't see fairies, especially those who believe in the Dharma King's Hall."
"...Really? So it's a fairy. Does this little guy have a name?" Grimm's eyes were fixed on the blue-haired fairy. Jiang Yue also had a favorite little creature, something like Chestnut Head, probably a fairy or something similar. She'd shared quite a few fan art pieces with it back then. These two looked alike...
...These pointed hairs do look a bit like a chestnut.
"It's Buck! My name is Buck! Great Fairy King, why don't you open the cage right now?" The little fairy shouted as he transformed himself in a disheveled manner, looking completely out of place in this world.
Judau was amused by Buck's exaggerated transformation. "Come on, you call yourself the King of Fairies? Last time you stole some human fruit wine and got so drunk that you slept in my hat for three days and three nights."
He tapped on the birdcage, and the metallic clanging sound instantly deflated Buck, causing him to revert to his original fluffy little form.
Green was amused by the scene and asked, "Jetto, where did you get this little imp? She's quite interesting."
Jiedu scratched his head and said, "It wasn't me who brought it. It was brought by that fortune-telling old woman. Apparently, she used to like causing trouble in the city."
"Why would your mother-in-law give it to you?"
Judau shrugged and said, "My mother-in-law said she's too old to control this little rascal. Luckily, I'm a new member of the troupe and still have a lot of energy. Maybe it can even add some color to the performance, so she entrusted it to me."
"I see. She can even subdue little fairies. That fortune teller is quite extraordinary." Green stroked his chin, his gaze thoughtfully falling on Buck.
Upon hearing this, Buck exploded again, "Subdued? No way! I just made a deal with that old woman..." Before he could finish speaking, Judau covered his mouth.
"Alright, alright, you talk too much." Jiedu chuckled awkwardly. "Who knows what nonsense this little one will spout this time..."
“Aren’t you going out to play? Here, just put this on.” He took out a thin silver chain from his pocket, with a small bell engraved with runes hanging from it.
Upon hearing that he had to wear a chain, Buck immediately flew into a rage, shouting, "I don't want to! It's a disgrace!"
“If you don’t wear it, don’t even think about going out,” Jiedu threatened.
Buck drooped its little head and ears, looking aggrieved, as Judau tied the bell around its neck.
As soon as it was put on, it couldn't wait to rush out of the cage, twirling happily in the air like a miniature Superman, shouting, "Finally free! Buck, attack!!"
"...Remember to come back before dusk, and don't forget tonight's performance," Jiedu shouted to the little figure in the sky.
"...Okay!!" Buck flew further and further away, who knows where it's going to cause trouble next?
The people around him watched as Jiedu shouted into the air, thinking he was calling for someone in the distance. They didn't see any small flying insects or goblins at all. In their view, Jiedu was just playing with an empty birdcage.
Green watched Buck walk away and couldn't help but laugh out loud: "That little imp is really funny, like a child who's always full of energy."
Jacob smiled as well: "Yes, young master, this is the first time I've ever seen a fairy. I've only ever heard of them in storybooks before."
Green turned to look at Judah: "Judah, you and Buck seem to get along quite well. It seems that although it doesn't like it, it actually listens to you a lot."
Jiedu smiled and said, "I heard from the fortune teller that all fairies are like this. They are just a bit wild and playful, but they are not bad at heart."
"After spending time with it, I realized that it's a noisy and mischievous little guy."
“He does have a playful personality.” Green nodded in agreement. Since it was still early, he decided to sit down and chat with Judau.
Judau watched Buck's disappearing figure, his blue eyes filled with a mixture of melancholy and relief. "Speaking of which, Father brought us out here to find the legendary 'Fairy Scale Powder,' but we unexpectedly stumbled upon it at this circus."
"I always thought that it was something that only existed in stories, until I saw that little fairy with my own eyes. I realized that there are too many things in this world that cannot be explained by words."
