Berserk: The Prophet

Upon arriving in town, Saimile Buddha immediately sensed a completely different, oppressive atmosphere. Pedestrians hurried along the streets, their eyes darting around; the usual liveliness and peace were nowhere to be found.

As soon as it appeared, the crowd scattered like a receding tide, screams of terror rising and falling: "The dragon is here! Hide!"

The Maitreya Buddha was filled with doubt. It tried to stop an old man to ask what was going on, but the old man was so frightened that he collapsed to the ground, screaming incoherently, "Don't eat me, don't eat me... You stole the livestock and harmed so many people!"

It was only then that Saimi Lefudo realized that those terrible rumors had already taken deep root among the people.

"You foolish humans! If I wanted to eat people and livestock, I would have demanded your offerings long ago. I didn't do any of that!!"

This is practically a conspiracy!!

Immediately anxious, Saimile Fudo took flight and decided to go directly to the palace to find Edvarut and get the truth out of him.

Before the palace, the guards stood ready, spears stood in rows, archers aimed their arrows at the dragon, and even the catapults used for siege were poised to fire.

"Edward, get out here! Where is Benedict? Why are there so many slanders against me throughout the city?" Saimile Buddha roared.

At this moment, Edvarut appeared on the palace wall. His face was cold and stern, and he said loudly, "Semirfodo, your crimes are notorious. You steal livestock and harm the people, and now you dare to openly break into the palace! Today, I will rid the people of Grant of this scourge!"

Having said that, he waved his hand, and the diviners and their followers hidden in the shadows immediately cast powerful spells, and chains of restraint flew toward Saimile Buddha like ropes, attempting to bind him.

Saimile Buddha roared furiously, his wings flapping violently, and his powerful body and sharp claws tore the chains apart in a few moments.

Its eyes burned with rage, and it knew in its heart that all of this must be a conspiracy by Edvard. Just as the two sides were deadlocked, Semifeldo suddenly sensed a faint yet familiar presence coming from the depths of the palace—it was Benedict!

"Fire arrows!!" Seeing that the Buddha was unharmed, Edwal immediately ordered the archers and catapults to attack it at all costs.

"Roar!!" The Maitreya Buddha, who was hit by the large rock, staggered noticeably, and felt the pain as if a human had been bruised by a stone.

Semyl-Fo gave Edvarut a cold look, then charged headlong toward the source of the aura. The guards' spears were as useless as toothpicks poking at it; with a flick of its tail and claws, it felled a whole group of them, and the scene instantly turned into a bloody carnage.

It's very irritable now. Edvarut doesn't care about the lives of these people at all. Even a dragon can't withstand the boulders thrown by the catapults forever.

Moreover, it was not even an adult dragon; even if converted to human terms, it would only be a child under seven years old.

Its sharp claws easily tore open the stone walls, and deep within the palace, Semileford found Benedict imprisoned in a huge iron cage.

Benny looked haggard, but her eyes were resolute. When she saw Samuelford, a hint of surprise flashed in her eyes, but it quickly turned into worry and concern.

“Sai Maitreya Buddha, you shouldn’t have come, this is a trap!” Benny cried out urgently.

As it looked at the imprisoned Benny, its anger intensified. It took a step forward and was attacked by a trap. The ground collapsed, revealing sharp spears and giant animal traps below.

Before the ground could react, the Maitreya Buddha leaped up with a sudden flap of its wings as the ground collapsed. Its forelimbs gripped the relatively solid ground, narrowly avoiding the deadly traps. However, its right hind leg was unfortunately caught in a bear trap. It roared and used its dragon breath to melt the trap, stopping the bleeding as well.

Its wings could not spread in such a small space, but the strong wind it generated still blew the surrounding dust and debris flying everywhere.

After carefully examining his surroundings and confirming that there was no danger, the seemingly sturdy iron cage was torn open as if it were made of paper.

"You're injured!" Benedict looked at Samuelford's injured hind leg, her eyes reddening with heartache, her voice trembling. Samuelford, however, tried to remain calm, gently nuzzling Benedict and saying, "I'm fine, it's just a minor injury. We need to get out of here quickly."

However, before they could act, a sudden burst of rapid footsteps sounded outside, clearly indicating that more soldiers were rushing towards them. Samuelford shielded Benedict behind him, vigilantly watching the breach.

Soon, a group of soldiers appeared at the cave entrance, weapons in hand, their eyes filled with fear and hostility. Saimile Buddha roared angrily, causing the soldiers to involuntarily take a few steps back. But under the command of their commander, they regained their courage and surrounded the breach.

Saimile Buddha carefully shielded Benny with his tail and whispered, "Don't be afraid, Benny, I will definitely take you away from here."

Semirafodo took a deep breath and suddenly exhaled dragon breath. Blazing flames swept towards the soldiers, who scrambled to avoid them, but many were still burned. Taking advantage of the chaos, Semirafodo bent down and let Benedict climb onto his head.

"Hold on to my dragon horns."

Benny clung tightly to the dragon horns of Samuelford, who took a running start towards the opening, flapped its wings, and soared into the air.

However, Edvarut had anticipated their breakout and the giant crossbows specially prepared for slaying dragons were already loaded with spears.

Standing on the city wall, he watched as Semmelifodo was about to take Benedictine away, a fierce glint in his eyes, and commanded his men to activate the large crossbows.

With Edvarut's command, the giant crossbow made a dull thud, and several huge spears shot towards Semirfodo like meteors.

"Hold on tight!" Samuel Fodo keenly sensed the danger and twisted its body in mid-air, trying to avoid these deadly attacks.

A spear grazed its left wing, tearing its scales and drawing blood. Despite the pain, the Maitreya Buddha endured it without hesitation, flapping its wings even harder to soar higher into the sky.

Benedict was jolted on top of Samuelford's head. The powerful changes in the airflow made it impossible for her to open her eyes, so she could only hold tightly to Samuelford's dragon horns.

However, Benny could sense its pain, which made her extremely anxious: "Sai Maitreya Buddha, how are you?"

"...I'm fine, don't worry, I won't let them hurt you." Saimile Buddha replied firmly, even though its body had indeed suffered relatively serious damage, its voice carried a hint of determination.

Edvarut, watching from below, saw that Semirfodo was still able to fly despite his injuries, and his expression grew increasingly grim.

“Your Majesty need not worry. The dragon is now severely injured, and its wings are damaged. It will definitely not be able to fly out of this island. I will send my men to track down the dragon.” The diviner ordered his attendants to ride flying beasts from the Eastern Empire to track down the dragon.
