Berserk: The Prophet
Chapter 23 Page

"stop!!"
"asshole..."
Two burly men chased after Green, winding their way into a quiet alley with few people around. Fortunately, no one bothered them.
The two quickly followed Green to a dead-end alley in the slums, where kestrels circled and cried in the sky.
"Phew...you brat, now you have nowhere to run, don't you? Give me back my purse, and this knight might spare your life!" William caught up with the guy who stole his purse, panting slightly. This kid could really run; he almost lost him.
"Ha, you brat, now you have nowhere to run!" His attendant, who had just caught up, breathed a sigh of relief and walked toward Green, ready to make a move.
"Whizzing"
"Pfft"
The sound of two sharp arrows piercing the air mingled with the sound of them penetrating flesh, and the servant didn't even have time to let out a scream before he was pierced through by an arrow and killed.
The knight seemed to have jerked his head and body to the side upon hearing the sound of the arrow, narrowly avoiding a fatal blow, but the arrow wound left a long gash on his face, from which blood gushed.
"Damn it!" William drew his sword and turned around abruptly. Four masked men in black appeared behind him, their eyes radiating murderous intent, clearly not to be trifled with.
"Who are you?! I am the son of Earl Galanz! He will not let you go." Although he was not favored by his father, his family was the only way to save his life at the moment.
"Heh, that's the one we've been looking for!" With a command from Kadi, the three men simultaneously drew their swords and swiftly slashed at William. William had no choice but to bite the bullet and charge forward; these men were after his life!
The three players each have their own unique fighting styles, yet they cooperate closely, clearly indicating that they often work together on the battlefield.
Seeing that they were getting closer and closer, Green quickly drew his greatsword from his back, preparing to find an opening to dodge.
"Sizzle"
Despite William's flawless parrying and swordsmanship, he was no match for the three men's combined attack. In no time, he was covered in wounds of varying sizes, and as he lost blood, he became increasingly exhausted.
William quickly retreated to within five meters of Green. The exit from the alley was completely blocked by the group. Even if he died, Cardi wouldn't care.
Since he's going to die anyway, I might as well end his painful life myself.
"Thud!" The sound of a greatsword piercing through chainmail and flesh rang out.
[Knight William has been defeated, gaining 520 experience points]
[Obtain Knight's Essence *1]
"Uh..."
William stared in shock, his pale yellow eyes filled with disbelief as he glanced back at Green. His legs gave way, and he collapsed to his knees, dying with his eyes wide open in despair.
"Sizzle"
Green stepped over the corpse and drew his greatsword. Fresh intestinal fluid and blood stained Green's hands and splattered on his face.
"Pa" "Pa" "Pa"
Cardi patted his hand and slowly walked over; he was very satisfied with Green's performance.
"Well done, Green."
"How does it feel to personally kill a knight? Doesn't it make you feel proud?" Kadi smiled meaningfully.
It was a cruel smile unique to this era. Green felt nothing. He didn't think killing was something to be proud of. If he hadn't experienced Chinese education, he might have been the same as them.
"Sorry, I don't feel there's anything to be proud of, because I want to live!"
Green sheathed his blood-stained greatsword, his words both a response to Cady and an apology to the corpse on the ground.
Kadi was momentarily stunned, because it really didn't sound like something a six-year-old would say, and then he laughed with interest.
"...That's why I said you're really interesting."
"Go, get rid of the rats that are looking around here, and dump the carcasses somewhere random." Kadi ordered his men in a casual tone, raised his right hand, and a kestrel landed lightly on his arm. He took a piece of meat from his pocket as a reward for it.
A few weak and terrified screams reached his ears. In this filthy and stinking slum, no one paid any attention. When Bazso arrived, he happened to see this scene and watched them go on a killing spree with cold hands and feet.
“You did well. The knight and his squire’s money pouch is yours. Remember to come back to Wyndam with us tomorrow morning, and don’t wander off.” Kadi’s deep blue eyes held a hint of warning as he looked at Green, and with that, he teased his falcon and left.
"..."
Green looked at the money bag in his hand, which was stained with blood. It was obviously unusable. He counted it quickly and found that there were about 26 silver coins and 85 copper coins left. He wiped his hands with the wrinkles in his clothes and dried his face with his hood.
My first pot of gold.
"Boss! Are you alright?" Bazzo ran over to check on Green's condition.
"What could possibly happen if I'm still standing here?" Green put the money from the bag into his pocket.
“His wallet is yours.” Green pointed to the servant on the ground, who had been shot through the throat. The screams from the slums had stopped, and they would be coming to deal with the body soon.
Bazzo found his wallet, weighed it in his hand, and then followed Green away.
The smell of blood on my clothes was too strong, so I had to change them quickly. Fortunately, it was already completely dark, and there were very few people on the street.

Day two.
The group left the city early. Kadi had already changed into William's gear and mounted their warhorses. There was another person disguised as William's attendant. They slipped out of the city as if nothing had happened in the slums yesterday. The city continued to operate as usual. Even if something was discovered, it would only be a symbolic, perfunctory investigation out of humanitarian considerations. After all, the dead were insignificant people, and the public, unaware of what had happened, simply let the corpses rot.
.........
"Would you like to become my page, Grin?" Cardi, clad in heavy armor, suddenly spoke, though for some reason, he made a perfunctory inquiry despite having intended to do so.
"Do I have a choice?" Green countered.
"Haha, of course there's no choice."
"......"
"Both of you can come. It's just some work like feeding the horses and polishing the armor."
"It's better than wandering outside. Don't you want to learn more sword skills, Grin?"
Green suddenly remembered the time he spent living with his adoptive father, Gambino, and thought that perhaps staying here for a short while and having a place to stay wouldn't be bad.
"Okay, I can be your page, and I'll have time to go out and play, right?"
Kadi suddenly laughed. After all, he was still a child, and it was normal for him to want to go out and play.
"of course."
