Berserk: The Prophet

Chapter 185 Saved

The situation on the wall became visibly chaotic. Green and Bazzo, supporting each other, used their unusual strength, which was beyond their years, to break open the cages holding the children one by one.

General Kirsten's troops advanced rapidly, quickly gaining the upper hand and opening the gates of the concentration camp, allowing more troops to pour into the small camp.

Seeing that defeat was inevitable, Juda's soldiers surrendered one after another, and their plans to dig tunnels and train spies were exposed.

"Hmph, Juda's style of doing things really hasn't changed at all!!"

The elderly man at the head of the group rode his warhorse to the center of the playground where the children were imprisoned. His heart clenched at the sight of the emaciated and battered children of Grant.

"Damn it, kill all these Qiu Daren officials below the rank of ten-man commander!"

General Kirsten's orders quickly reached the entire army. Then, he noticed the blood-soaked Green and Bazso, and the wolf carcasses on the ground.

"...Oh? You did all of this?"

General Kirsten looked surprised. The man and woman following behind him were the same two people outside the city last night: Edward, the blond one-eyed man, and Heckel, the silver-haired man.

Without Green and Bazso speaking, the other children were enough to testify for them.

General Kirsten nodded, his eyes full of admiration.

"You've done a good job, children, come home with me!" General Kirsten, with a booming voice, summoned his mounted guards and led the children one by one onto their horses, preparing to take them back to the "Dragon's Nest."

Edward and Hickel stepped forward, looking at Green and Bazzo with expressions of admiration.

Heckel dismounted and examined Green and Bazso's wounds, and Edward followed suit, taking out bandages and ointment from his bag.

"Thank you." Green and Bazzo scratched their heads a little embarrassedly.

"Let's treat the wound first, we can talk about the rest when we get back." Hickel took out a handkerchief and gently wiped the blood from Green's cheek.

"Thank you... You're so beautiful, sister." Green stared at the young woman wiping away his blood, her long silver hair and light blue eyes making him speechless.

Edward was carefully applying ointment to Bazso's wound when he heard Green's words, and his face darkened. After all, those were words that even he himself would be embarrassed to say to Hickel.

Upon hearing this, Hickel gave Green a tender yet bitter smile, feeling sorry for him. This child was incredibly tenacious, with ugly and gruesome scars covering almost his entire body.

Edward quickly treated Bazzo's wounds, while Green was given a flat bench by Hickel to have her upper body wounds treated. The ointment and bandages she carried with her were running out.

Just as Hickel was preparing to fetch the medicine and feeling troubled by Green's lower body wound, Edward came over with the dressings and bandages he had brought, patted Hickel on the shoulder, and indicated that he could take care of the rest.

"Go and get ready to leave. I'll take care of his wounds from now on."

Unlike most Grants, Edward had a soft voice, and if you didn't look closely at the ugly scratches on his left cheek that were hidden by his hair, you could even call him handsome.

Hickel nodded, stood up, glanced at Green, and then turned to tidy up the pack on his horse.

Edward knelt down and carefully treated Green's wound. His movements were gentle and skillful. First, he simply cleaned the surface of the wound with a clean towel. Then, his long, calloused hands applied a green dressing to it.

Despite the pain, Green's gaze remained fixed on Edward. He thought to himself, "This man is not only handsome, but he also seems quite gentle."

"Take off your pants. You also have wounds below your waist." Unfortunately, after Hickel walked away, Edward's voice was noticeably different from before.

Edward was still upset about what had just happened, even though the child in front of him seemed to understand nothing.

“Oh, okay.” But Green clearly didn’t understand the source of this change.

Slightly annoyed, Edward hastily treated Green's lower back wound with a dressing and began bandaging it. He couldn't help but frown slightly when he looked at the intact and gruesome wound.

Yes, why argue with a child? It's just that I don't have the courage to speak up for even one of my own children.

"Sigh," Edward sighed, his sharp eyes softening again. He finished bandaging Green's wounds and put away the remaining dressings and bandages.

"...Thank you." Green pulled up his tattered linen trousers; he looked no different from a little beggar.

Edward paused for a moment, then smiled. "You're welcome."

While Green's wounds were being treated, General Kirsten's guards had already conducted a thorough search of the concentration camp, and Father Morse had died in his stone hut, clutching a sacred text bearing the symbol of the Royal Palace.

I wonder if his "god" has answered his prayers throughout his life? Or is this all arranged by that so-called "god"?

Grimm stared silently at the stone house opposite him. In this world... only the abyss truly exists.

"Alright, it's time for us to set off." General Kirsten waved his hand and led the group toward the "Dragon's Nest".

Along the way, the children, who were usually listless, showed long-lost smiles. They all talked excitedly about going home and, filled with hope for the future, curiously looked around at their surroundings.

Green and Bazzo breathed a slight sigh of relief. It was all good, as long as they weren't in that ruthless place.

This experience was just the beginning for them; their real mission was only just beginning.

......

After two days of travel, the group finally arrived at the so-called "Fire Dragon's Nest".

The sight before them amazed the children who originally lived in the mountain village: towering city walls, bustling streets, and friendly, familiar people.

Many children have already found their fellow countrymen and relatives in the town market of a fortress somewhere in the "Dragon's Nest". They embraced each other and wept with joy.

As for the children whose families had not yet been found, General Kirsten arranged accommodations for them, and Green and Bazzo had their own rooms.

"Finally, I can get a good night's sleep." Bazso lay on the bed, his face full of relaxation after exhaustion.

Green sat by the window, gazing at the scenery outside, his thoughts drifting away.

He was thinking about everything that had happened, including the beast fight and Juda's centurion's attempt to kill them both. Fortunately, Grant's general's troops arrived in time. Was all of this really within Cadi's expectations?
