Berserk: The Prophet

Chapter 184 Fighting Beasts

Green and Bazzo already had a general idea in mind that they would most likely be facing a pack of hungry wolves next.

"Let's begin. Didn't you say you were a clan of bears and wolves? Let me see just how capable you are!" The lieutenant gestured with great interest to the soldiers to open the gate and release the pack of wolves.

Today's gladiatorial performance was not authorized by Kadi, but was decided on his own initiative by Juda, the centurion and deputy commander of the concentration camp.

"Awooo—!" The wolf howl rang out again, and as soon as the gate was pulled up, more than a dozen ferocious wolves rushed out. They bared their teeth, their eyes gleaming with ferocity, and their mouths watered at the aroma of meat wafting from the two men. They pounced on Green and Bazso impatiently.

Only then did the Juda soldiers watching from the platform leisurely throw wooden spears for the two men to use in self-defense.

With lightning speed, Green caught the flying spear, dodged a wolf's attack, and thrust the spear at the wolf.

However, due to his stiff body, Baziso's movements were somewhat slow, and he was almost bitten by a wolf.

Green shouted, "Bazso, pull yourself together!"

Bazso gritted his teeth, enduring the discomfort brought by the cold, and brandished his spear to fight off the wolves.

The wolves were extremely fierce and launched continuous attacks. Green and Bazso stood back to back, cooperating with each other, and for a time they were able to barely hold them off.

However, the wolves outnumbered them, and they gradually became exhausted. Taking advantage of Bazso's momentary lapse in attention, one wolf bit his arm, and Bazso cried out in pain.

Green was frantic and thrust his spear at the wolf, driving it away. But Bazzo's wound continued to bleed, making his condition even more critical.

"We can't die here!" Green roared, repelling another wolf that pounced on him.

Meanwhile, the Juda soldiers on the wall were loudly laughing and cheering on the wolves.

Green's eyes were filled with anger and determination. He knew that only by fighting to the death could he have any chance of survival.

Baziso is very strong, but too agile, so he can only fight one wolf at a time.

Green helped the injured Baziso to his feet, and the two fought and retreated, their eyes fixed on the wolf pack in front of them. In a fierce battle, they found a corner with their backs against the wall to resist, protecting Baziso behind them.

Green took a deep breath and then decisively charged into the wolf pack, his spear flashing up and down, each strike precisely piercing the wolves' vital points.

As Green continued his rampage, the wolf pack's encirclement gradually tightened. Green bore several deep, bone-revealing bite marks, but he remained fearless, driven by a single belief: he must leave this place alive!

Just as Greene was blocking an attack from a wolf that was larger than the others, the simple wooden spear in his hand was suddenly bitten and split in two.

Green was also pounced on by the wolf, and the situation immediately became extremely critical.

"Hahaha, you really put in a lot of effort!" Juda's captain of a hundred men chuckled at Green, clutching his stomach, as if he already knew what would happen next.

At this critical moment, Green's hands swiftly and firmly gripped the wolf's gaping maw. The two were locked in a struggle, while the other wolves were preparing to pounce and tear Green apart.

Seeing this critical moment, Bazso suddenly unleashed a powerful force from nowhere. He roared and stabbed the wolf that was pressing down on Green with his wooden spear, slamming it against the wall.

The wolf's belly was pierced, and blood gushed out. Its head still tried to tear at Bazso and the wooden spear that had pierced it, struggling fiercely.

Bazso had no choice but to hold the wooden spear in his hand tightly to prevent it from biting him.

On the contrary, Green's situation did not improve much because of Baziso's help. Another wolf tried to bite Green's throat. Green quickly raised his left arm to block the vital point, and with his right hand, he picked up the spearhead that had been broken in two and stabbed the wolf's eyeball.

The wolf was immediately in pain, released its grip, and ran to the ground not far away to roll around, howling and whimpering.

Green seized the opportunity to get up and drive away the remaining wolves. He saw that Bazso's wooden spear was about to break under the wolf king's struggle. Green pounced on it without hesitation, used his knee to hold down its head, and then used the spearhead with its eyeballs stuck together to pierce its throat.

Blood splattered on Green's face, but Green's eyes were filled with a manic, bloodthirsty glint. His teeth involuntarily protruded, and his fierce, twisted face was almost grinning maniacally. This was food!

Soon the wolf king fell silent, and the pack seemed intimidated by their imposing presence, their steps faltering slightly as they prepared to attack.

After seeing that their leader, the wolf king, was completely dead, the leaderless pack whimpered and tucked their tails between their legs, running back to their pen.

The entire concentration camp's parade ground fell silent, followed by cheers from the children.

"...We won!!" "Amazing!!"

Covered in blood, Green and Bazzo let out a long sigh of relief and collapsed to the ground as if they had used up all their strength.

Meanwhile, Qiu Da's centurion gripped his wine glass tightly and smashed it violently on the playground.

"Why didn't they just die obediently?! What a disappointing ending!!"

He didn't care what use that man named Kadi had for his two children; since Kadi wasn't in the concentration camp now, he wanted them to pay for what happened last night.

"Enough! Shoot them dead with arrows!!"

Judas's centurion, hearing the cheers of the children in the cage, felt utterly humiliated and immediately gave orders to his archers.

The Juda archers in the concentration camp immediately pointed their arrows at them, which sent a chill down Green and Bazso's spines.

“We’re...out of options,” Green murmured.

"...Boss, I'll still be your brother in the next life." Bazso was already prepared to die.

Just as the arrows were about to leave the bowstring, the throats of the Juda soldiers on the wall were slit by a group of men dressed in black robes and soft armor.

Just then, Green heard a familiar bugle call, a sound he had heard before in Hohenheim—it was General Kirsten's troops!

"what?!"

Judas's centurion looked behind them in surprise. It turned out that General Kirsten's troops had secretly infiltrated the arena while they were all engrossed in the spectacle!

...Soon it was his turn.

"Don't panic!! Counterattack in an orderly manner! Heh..."

Before he could finish speaking, the good-for-nothing centurion was killed by the sword that pierced his mouth.

To Grant's children, this scene was like witnessing the dragon in the story being pierced through the throat by a hero, and the centurion's body falling straight down from the city wall.

The remaining Juda soldiers were thrown into chaos, but the well-trained Kirsten army quickly surrounded them and engaged in a fierce battle.
