Berserk: The Prophet
Chapter 18 Embarrassment
...............
The streets were bustling with traffic and the cries of vendors were incessant, along with, of course, those annoying noises.
"You're back, but you gave very little. Tsk, only two silver coins."
"Hahaha, you should be grateful if you can sell that sickly look for two silver coins! At least you still have 120 copper coins left!"
"Haha, you're right." The two returned to the tavern arm in arm.
Shiva looked towards the stables, where the two children seemed to still be. A playful smile appeared on his lips as he walked toward the two children with ill intent.
"Huh, why does it smell like blood?" another person with a keen sense of smell reminded Shiva.
"Tsk, what a lucky lazybones." Looking at the injured Green lying there with his eyes half-closed, Shiva looked annoyed. Being injured means he won't fetch a good price, what a lucky little brat!
"Pah! Still not behaving properly even after entering the city." Shiva didn't care how Green got injured; he only cared about his wallet!
He quickly turned his attention to Bazso, who had just finished feeding the horses.
"Hehehe, you haven't lost much weight after running all this way, kid!" Shiva and another person blocked Bazso's path with ill intent.
"Uh, what are you going to do? I don't have any money on me..." Bazso was cornered against the wall, head down, not daring to speak. Thinking about what Green had said last night, his anxiety made him nervously clutch the hem of his clothes.
"Hahaha, no money is no problem! Aren't you money? Little fatty!"
"Hahaha..."
The two men's joking voices carried far, but no one would care even on a busy street like this; there was no need to get into trouble over something that didn't concern them.
"Come with me!!" Shiva punched Bazso in the stomach; he wasn't planning on taking the man away peacefully.
"Ugh!" Bazso dared not resist and could only clutch his stomach. Then Shiva's large hand pulled Bazso to the ground, preparing to drag Bazso, whose face was covered in mud, away to sell him.
That's enough!! Green no longer has the energy to teach the two a lesson.
"Kadi, we're already under your command, aren't you going to do anything about those two?!"
Cardi had obviously noticed what happened and was leisurely drinking tea upstairs when he heard Green call him, so he slowly put down his cup.
"What are you yelling about? You brat, how dare you call the boss by his name?!" Upon hearing Green's nonsense, Shiva immediately raised his fist, ready to teach this arrogant kid a lesson.
"Alright, Shiva."
Just as Shiva's fist was about to strike Green's face, the leisurely voice from upstairs came and stopped the farce.
"See, you brat, you're useless..."
Just as Shiva was about to triumphantly teach the brat a lesson, he suddenly realized something and looked up at Kadi upstairs in shock.
"What? Boss? Didn't we agree..."
"I still have a use for those two. You two go and get something to eat first." Kadi remained unhurried.
"..."
"Tch... Let's go." Shiva glared at Green, thinking, "What luck! I wonder if there'll be a next time!"
Watching Shiva and the man leave, Green went over to check on Bazso. Apart from his face being a little dirty, his stomach should recover in a couple of days.
"Are you alright?" Green reached out his right hand and pulled him up from the ground.
"I'm fine..." Bazso's voice was trembling, he must have been crying, but it was hidden by the mud on his face and his hair, so it wasn't obvious. He was clearly putting on a brave face and didn't want Green to see his current predicament.
Seeing this, Green could only sigh helplessly in his heart. After all, no matter how great he becomes in the future, he's just a little kid now.
"Let's go wash our faces by the river, then we'll go eat."
Green patted Bazzo on the shoulder and turned to leave. He probably didn't want others to see his vulnerability. Green understood that feeling; after all, boys are all concerned about their image.
...............
The city of Wyndam is connected by a natural river, which supports the city's hundreds of thousands of residents and highlights Wyndam's unique geographical location and culture.
The good time for fetching water has passed, and some women and unmarried girls are gathered together washing clothes.
Green and Bazso chose a quiet spot to wash their faces, but this still attracted the attention of the girls and women.
The women were whispering among themselves, while the girls covered their mouths and snickered at Bazso's miserable state.
He must have been embarrassed; Bazso's ears were completely red. He quickly washed his face, not daring to look up, his whole face as red as a ripe apple.
"Haha, how come your face is still so red? Don't worry about it, boys have their down days too. Just laugh it off confidently and generously!"
Green couldn't help but joke, even though it was a terrible situation, he still wanted to laugh.
"No way!! I didn't..." Bazso was at a loss for words. He washed his face and looked at his reflection in the water, lost in thought, and followed Green dejectedly.
I feel like I'm a natural burden, unable to help at all, and so stupid that I was almost sold off. If it weren't for Green, I would have been sold to the Colosseum by now.
He didn't like it at all.
Green was about to walk into the alley when Bazzo followed behind, seemingly having made a decision, and grabbed Green's arm.
"Ok?"
"Green! Teach me swordsmanship once your injuries have healed!" Bazso's small eyes were filled with longing and determination; he wanted to become stronger!
Green looked at the boy who looked even stronger than himself and thought for a moment.
"Of course, as my little brother, you must obey my orders."
"Yes, boss!" Bazso immediately straightened up. He never wanted to experience such a miserable state again!
"Okay, let's go." Green nodded in satisfaction. After all, he would be a decent fighter in the future, and having more helpers was better than having none.
............
Golden leaves are scattered on the streets in late autumn. Maybe it's time to eat something and then go look at some new clothes. I've been wearing this outfit for so long, the fabric is going to get moldy if I don't wash it soon.
Same old place, this time I ordered two lamb shanks. As my little brother, I naturally wouldn't treat Bazso unfairly.
Two children, each about 1.3 or 1.4 meters tall, were too conspicuous eating lamb legs on the street, so they naturally attracted the attention of thieves.
The thief was a child. I hadn't put my money bag in my spatial storage today, and the child bumped into me and stole it.
"Hey!" Green reacted immediately and shouted loudly. Fortunately, Bazso reacted quickly, stuffed the lamb leg into Green's arms, and chased after him.
Green could only try to keep up with the two of them, his physical pain preventing him from running too fast.
Damn it! Next time I'll just store the money in my storage space.
