NBA's King of Talking

Chapter 20 was finally selected.

Kemba Walker was unsurprisingly selected by the Bobcats, which made Jia Fei wonder if he would also be selected by the team. The Bobcats also have a first-round pick of 19th overall. If they use this pick to select Jia Fei, they will get two players from UConn.

Jia Fei's attention was fixed on the big screen; he was waiting for his name to appear.

Time ticked by, and before they knew it, they were at position 18. Jia Fei's heart began to race...

Finally, the announcement began. David Stern said, "The Charlotte Bobcats have selected Tobias Harris from the University of Tennessee!"

Jia Fei sighed inwardly. It seemed his performance hadn't truly won over the basketball god, Michael Jordan; they were still reluctant to use their 19th pick to select him. However, it wasn't entirely out of the question that he had no chance of playing alongside Kemba Walker, because the Bobcats still had a second-round pick.

Jia Fei was desperate to be selected as soon as possible; the sooner the better. Sitting there waiting was unbearable, especially for those of them who hadn't received any promises of being drafted. His two teammates, Art Mayork and Oljak, weren't much better off. The tension made them both feel the urge to urinate, but they dared not go to the bathroom for fear of missing their turn to be called.

Jia Fei wondered if there was something wrong with his prostate. He needed to urinate so soon, even though he hadn't drunk much water! Besides, it hadn't been long since he went to the toilet! He should have worn a diaper; he couldn't possibly wet his pants in public!

Until the 30th pick in the first round was announced, Jia Fei and two other UConn players had not yet been named. This meant that even if they were to be selected, it would only be in the second round. It also meant that none of the eight teams that had workouts with Jia Fei used their first-round picks to select him.

This result disappointed him somewhat. Although he wasn't quite in despair, he still felt a bit uneasy. He had clearly worked very hard and performed very well during the trials, but he hadn't been chosen. This feeling of powerlessness was particularly unpleasant, as if his fate was being controlled by someone else.

He suddenly recalled the scene in One Piece where Trafalgar Law, with his Op-Op Fruit power, was squeezing someone's heart. He felt as if his heart was being squeezed by someone else, and his fate was completely in someone else's control.

After the first round of results were announced, during the halftime break, Jia Fei stood up to stretch and called two teammates to go to the restroom to relieve themselves. Art Mayork and Oriak were in the same boat, and the three of them went to the restroom together.

After the water was released and a while later, the results of the second round of the draft were announced. This time, the person announcing the results changed from head referee David Stern to league vice president Adam Silver, who looked like Maruko's grandfather.

As Adam Silver began announcing the results of the second round of the draft, Jia Fei and the other two immediately perked up their ears... If they could have thought it was normal that they weren't selected in the first round, then the second round was their last chance. If they weren't selected, they would be undrafted, and if they wanted to get a contract, they could only hope that a team would try to pick them up later, but that chance was even more remote.

Bojan is first in the second round!

The second overall pick in the second round belonged to the Cavaliers. Jia Feixin was in his throat. He clearly remembered every detail of his tryout in Cleveland. Logically, the Cavaliers should have drafted him!

As a result, the Cavaliers selected Justin Harper...

Damn it, I lost another health bar... Jia Fei thought to himself, how many health bars and how many lives do I have left? After being disappointed time and time again, can't I be given some hope?

Amitabha, Amen, Allah. You asked me if I believe in light? Right now, I only believe in Grandpa Maruko. Please call my name! Oh, and my teammates too, their names need to be called as well!

The third pick in the second round went to the Pistons, and Jia Fei had given them a tryout, but they ended up selecting Kyle Singler...

Another devastating blow...

The next three draft picks went to the Kings, Nets, and Clippers. Jia Fei didn't give any of them tryouts, so unsurprisingly, they didn't select him.

The Rockets got the 8th pick in the second round, and Jia Fei held his breath once again!

The Rockets, the Rockets, to prevent the world from being destroyed, to protect world peace... Jia Fei wants to become one of Boss Sakaki's men, he wants to be teammates with that trio of good-for-nothings, he wants to inherit Yao Ming's mantle...

As a result... the Rockets drafted the handsome and wealthy Parsons...

Jia Fei was practically spitting blood...

But he can't fall! Even with low health, he's fearless. He unleashes his berserk mode, and his dual blades leave only the red-eyed slain! The next draw belongs to the Lynx!

Jordan, Mr. Jordan, you can't be joking with me, can you? Your judgment should have improved!

The result—the Bobcats chose Jeremy Taylor…

Jia Fei has no blood left...

Seeing his disappointed expression, Art Mayork patted him on the shoulder to comfort him. Art Mayork knew all too well how he felt at that moment; the image of him trying out for the Bobcats was still fresh in his mind, and not long ago, he had returned with a T-shirt autographed by Jordan.

Therefore, this feeling of disappointment is particularly hard to accept!

The draft continued, and in the blink of an eye, 20 of the 30 second-round draft results had been announced, but Jia Fei and his two teammates' names did not appear on the big screen.

There are still 10 spots available!

Jia Fei could only pull himself together and see what happened, no matter what!

In the second round, with the 21st pick, the Portland Trail Blazers selected Jia Fei from the University of Connecticut!

Jia Fei finally saw his name. He rubbed his eyes hard. Yes, it was indeed his name. He had been chosen!

He didn't know what to say for a moment. He only remembered his two teammates excitedly pushing him. Clearly, this was reality, not a dream.

Strangely, he never had a tryout with the Trail Blazers, so why did they choose him? But results can't be faked, which is why the world is sometimes so unpredictable!

Portland Trail Blazers! Jia Fei was trying hard to recall who was on the team's current roster and who the head coach was. What impressed him most about this team was their "veterinary team." Whether it was the Yellow Mamba or Oden, their professional careers ended early. He'd always wondered why the team didn't replace this medical team. Wouldn't it have been better to poach a few from the Suns' medical team?

The draft is still ongoing, and up to the 25th pick in the second round, Art Mayork and Oljak have still not been selected.

Jia Fei suppressed his excitement and began encouraging his two teammates. The remaining opportunities were indeed dwindling...
