EROS [Zerg]
Chapter 69 [Crimson Corona]
Lian Zhen was a name Eros had never heard of in the academy.
He watched as Brandt kicked Pared out of the office, then dialed another insect's communication:
"You really have a thick skin, actually letting your male master's female offspring steal things for you."
"..."
"You think you can hide your ridiculous selfishness by pretending to be mute?"
"..."
"If you knew about that kid's theft today, I could have taken him to arbitration!!"
"That's enough," the other end finally replied, then abruptly ended the communication.
Brandt took the terminal off his wrist and threw it hard on the ground. He was about to kick it a couple more times when he suddenly remembered that Eros was still watching, so he stopped in his tracks: "Did I scare you?"
Eros picked up the terminal that had been thrown on the ground. Fortunately, it wasn't broken. He discovered that the terminal Brandt had thrown was not a new one; in fact, it was older than the one he had.
"Teacher, this terminal must have been a gift from a very important insect, right?" Eros believed that Instructor Brandt was not short of star coins; one could tell from his usual belongings that he had a fondness for understated luxury items.
The old, even outdated, terminal in his hand is something you won't find anywhere else on Brandt's person.
“There’s too much stuff stored inside, and I’m used to it, so I’m too lazy to change it.” Brandt took the old-fashioned, wristwatch-like terminal from Eros’s claws—a style that was popular decades ago; nowadays, terminals are implanted under the skin with chips.
"Teacher, why did you release that worm?" Eros felt that a worm that stole other people's knowledge should not be so easily forgiven.
“His name is Palid von Mai, a female insect from the ancient noble family of von Chiya in the Empire.” Brandt pinched his brow, looking very troubled.
"Has this family become so powerful?" Eros wondered, wondering how this noble family, which he had never heard of before, could possess such strength.
“No, the Feng Qiya family declined eight years ago. The only thing that’s been widely known about their family now is the romantic escapades of those few male insects.” Brandt shook his head: “You should read more about the history of the Empire. Don’t turn yourself into a steel-plate head buried in a screw.”
Eros scratched his head, then suddenly remembered something: "Then why did you let that female insect go, Professor Brandt?"
"You ask so many questions. If you channeled that gossipy energy into your daily practice, you'd be a master long ago." Brandt glanced at Eros, who, oblivious to the world, laughed.
"Haha... So, Mr. Brandt, why?"
“Parid is nothing more than a little female insect roasted on a fire. He is just a female insect born of a female slave. His female father is controlled by his male father’s female lord. He dares not disobey that female lord.”
"So, although Pared is an A-rank female insect, he's quite indecisive. Even his admission to this school was only secured through connections by his female lord." Brandt paused.
“As long as he doesn’t do anything too heinous, like this failed attempt to steal the design blueprints, a beating to teach him a lesson is enough. There’s no need to send him to arbitration.”
"This is not like something you would say, Professor Brandt. It's so unlike your usual way of doing things."
"What is my usual style like?" Brandt asked, raising an eyebrow. "How dare you say you know my style of doing things after only knowing me for a short time?"
“Professor Brandt, you don’t seem like a sub-female, you’re more like a female insect.” Erostan replied honestly, “Just like a female insect, you like to compete and win. You seem to prefer to get what you want through your own strength.”
Brandt wasn't angry. He chuckled softly and said, "That's the problem with you female insects. You always think that sub-females and male insects are weak and useless. Don't underestimate sub-females, or you'll suffer a lot."
Eros nodded solemnly, "Yes, I will remember." Then he smiled and walked over to Brandt, telling him about his request to change his class schedule.
"Quite ambitious, learning mecha warfare. Is he hoping to go to the battlefield someday?" Brandt looked at Eros with a sharp gaze and a half-smile. From the first moment he saw this little female insect, he had the illusion that this child would definitely go to the battlefield because of her familiar appearance.
"If I have the chance, I definitely will." Eros pursed his lips, his eyes filled with eager joy.
"War only brings suffering, so why do you want to go to the battlefield?"
"War certainly brings suffering, but if we are the stronger side, we can seize the initiative on the battlefield," Eros replied calmly.
"At that time, the initiative to initiate a war will be in our hands, and we can use our strong military power to create and maintain long-term peace."
"Moreover, I am a female Zerg, and I don't need to stand in the shoes of other races or think about them. If it were any other race, they wouldn't think from the Zerg's perspective either."
Brandt nodded and chuckled, "You usually seem like such a gentle and mild-mannered female insect, but I never expected you to utter such belligerent remarks."
As he said this, he turned on his computer and pulled up a mecha design drawing.
"This is the latest generation design of the Corona, named after a famous set of blood-soaked photos taken by accompanying journalists during the famous Battle of Saljuan by its pilot, Lieutenant General Evanson."
Eros's gaze fell on the crimson mech on the display screen. He had seen models of previous generations of Corona mechs, all of which had a white base color. But the crimson mech in front of him had white as a secondary color and red as the primary color. At first glance, it looked like it was standing under the setting sun, bathed in the afterglow of the sunset.
It was both majestic and tragic.
"What a beautiful mecha!" Eros kept praising it.
"If all the data passes and the test is successful, then this [Crimson Corona] will be the most technologically advanced and powerful mech in the Zerg so far, without exception."
"Which female insect pilot was the [Crimson Corona]? Was it the Insect Queen? Or was it Imperial Marshal Ulysses?" Eros thought to himself that such a powerful mech must be assigned to the most powerful female soldier.
What an honor it would be to be able to pilot this mech.
Upon hearing Eros's words, Brandt sneered: "It's not them. The modification of the Crimson Corona was carried out on Evanson Eastland's original mech, so this mech still belongs to Evanson Eastland's private property."
Eros asked in confusion, "But wasn't Lieutenant General Evanson already dead?"
"Yes, so this mech now belongs to the private property of Grand Duke Kavenor, the lord of Evanson."
