EROS [Zerg]
Chapter 242 Cooperation
Evanson Eastland put away his memories, because he did not inherit the feelings of the previous Evanson, and he did not know what the later Evanson was thinking.
However, that wasn't too important. A few months after Evanson returned, his body began to weaken due to poisoning and injuries. The power of the "insecticide" weapon invented by the Blue Star people should not be underestimated.
To prevent the toxins from contaminating the insect core where Evanson stored his memories, Kove ended his life prematurely, allowing a new body to inherit his memories.
Evanson Eastland's eyes were devoid of emotion. From the moment he opened his eyes and saw the first ray of light, the darkness of this world had extinguished any hope in him.
“I heard that your new commander is capturing female insects for experiments.” Evanson Eastland coldly looked at the Blue Star people locked in cages.
The blue planet in the cage was startled by the sudden question: "You can actually speak human language?!"
"You, what do you want to do?"
“What I want to do is none of your business. All you need to know is that I need you to deliver something to your superior.” Evanson Eastland walked up to the Blue Star man, knelt down, and stuffed a paper letter into his collar. “Deliver this letter for me, and you can leave here safely.”
"If you fail to do so within two days, all your undercover agents in the Sixth Star System will be arrested immediately."
"What's inside?" the Earthling asked warily.
“I’m very interested in your female commander’s experiments, however, such experiments are forbidden in the Zerg. I’m thinking that perhaps we can cooperate.” Evanson Eastland’s lips curled into a cruel smile.
Two days after releasing the Earthlings, Evanson Eastland received a reply.
On Blue Star, Rowling suggested that she wanted to meet him.
To avoid being discovered, they chose to meet at the chaotic black market.
In the dimly lit alley, where the lights flickered on and off, a woman wrapped in a black robe for warmth cautiously observed the alley entrance where few creatures passed by.
A faint salty, fishy smell filled the air, and the approaching footsteps made her prick up her ears.
A dark figure finally appeared at the alley entrance.
Rowling bit down on the oxygen device in her mouth, her eyes fixed on the approaching Zerg: "Long time no see."
The blonde female insect stood in the shadows, scattered light and shadow falling on her, revealing a strange and cold aura that kept strangers at bay.
As Rowling watched Evanson approach, his violet eyes, illuminated by the dim yellow light, shimmered with a hint of black and gold, strikingly resembling the pupils of ancient Eastern peoples from Earth.
“It really is you, RouLi.”
What do you want from me?
There was a moment of silence on the other end, then a sudden grin appeared:
"Would you like to consider working with me?"
“I am very interested in the experiment you are doing and am willing to help, provided that you share the experimental results with me.”
"Do you know what I'm doing, yet you dare to say such things?"
“I know.” The blonde female insect smiled, her fingertip touching the corner of her lips.
His smile was ambiguous, but his gaze was cold: "Otherwise, I wouldn't have thought of you."
Rowling's heart skipped a beat; for a moment, she had no idea what Evanson Eastland was referring to.
“I am not him; I merely accepted and utilized his identity and memories.”
Rowling's dry lips twitched slightly. "What do you mean?"
Evanson Eastland looked at her with disdain and slowly walked up to Rowling: "What I mean is, I'm not the bug you know. I won't show you any mercy. If you refuse my invitation, I'll send you to your hell right now. Of course, if you accept my invitation, I'll send you to your heaven."
It wasn't until Evanson Eastland approached that Rowling noticed some specks of blood on the soles of the Zerg's shoes.
"What help can you give me?" Rowling didn't know what Evanson Eastland meant by "I am not him," but she was no longer the naive little girl she had been a few years ago, and she knew better than anyone what choice she needed to make.
“A separate laboratory? Or experimental materials you can’t even imagine?” Evanson Eastland asked.
"Do you know what my experimental materials are?" Rowling's voice turned cold.
“I know, they’re bugs.” Evanson Eastland looked at the girl opposite him with utter disdain. “You humans have wanted to study them for a long time, haven’t you?”
"Them? Aren't you the same kind? Aren't you an insect?" Rowling questioned.
“Haha, bugs.” Evanson Eastland said with disdain, “I’m not the same kind of thing as them.”
"Do you humans consider robots to be human? Or do you consider androids to be human as well?"
Evanson Eastland learned from his past memories that Rowling had once told him that the blue planet on which humanity originally depended for survival was destroyed because the ignorant people who once lived on it wanted to change all of humanity through genetic technology, but they did not expect that humanity would not be able to control the technology they had mastered.
When gene technology was just beginning to emerge in human society, the successful development of bionic humans inspired the continuous application of this technology in human life, while also opening the door to the misuse of gene technology.
At that time, androids were seen as commodities or objects by humans. Even though they could develop emotions, as something that could be mass-produced, they were nothing more than commodities in the eyes of humans.
The misuse of genetic technology not only failed to bring them a qualitative leap, but also created many monsters, ultimately destroying the Earth.
Therefore, upon receiving this memory, Evanson Eastland quickly assessed his own situation. How was he different from the androids that humans on Earth had created in the past?
Kowe's research was aimed at mass production, and if he hadn't resisted, his outcome would have been far worse than that of those androids.
“You really aren’t him.” Rowling lowered her head and chuckled self-deprecatingly. “He would never make a choice like you.”
"He is a warrior who would rather risk his life to cover the rear than let his fellow countrymen escape from the human base."
Evanson Eastland responded arrogantly: "I am not ashamed of it, but proud of it."
Evanson Eastland tossed Rowling a palm-sized terminal: "I'll use this to contact you."
"And those thugs you brought, I can only laugh."
"What are you going to do with them?" Rowling asked, displeased. She had already realized that the bloodstains on Evanson Eastland's bodyguards must have been from her own men.
Evanson Eastland chuckled maliciously: "Of course they're for eating. What, would you leave those worthless things as hostages? They'd have plenty of good food and drink."
