EROS [Zerg]

Chapter 19 Love me, love my dog; hate my servants

The light of the insect-made sun gradually faded, and the nighttime temperature quickly dropped below zero and continued to fall.

This harsh living environment makes it difficult to find any life other than insects on the host planet.

The colder the temperature, the clearer the starry sky becomes.

As Eros walked through the campus, he kept recalling what Alai had told him.

"With a face like yours, it's really hard not to notice you."

"Within this academy, there are bugs like me who like Evanson, and naturally there are bugs who hate him."

If you love someone because of them, you'll also hate their relatives and friends.

Eros's expression grew increasingly grim, and his thoughts uncontrollably drifted towards the worst possible outcome.

Suddenly a dark shadow appeared in front of him. Eros quickly stopped, but the shadow did not slow down and crashed straight into him.

Eros was far smaller than his opponent and staggered back a few steps after being knocked down, only to hear a furious roar from above:

"Are you blind?!"

Eros bent over, clutching his shoulder where he had just been hit with his claws. The impact had sent a jolt through half of his body, as if he had been electrocuted.

After a long while, he straightened up and looked at the female insect that had bumped into him. His purple eyes were dark in the night: "You bumped into me."

The female insect that bumped into Eros noticed him staring at her. She was initially a little intimidated, but when she saw the Comet Class emblem on Eros's school uniform, her disgust was immediately obvious.

"So what? The disabled students in the Comet Class."

Eros couldn't understand why the female insect's words were so malicious.

“You can’t do this…” Eros wanted to argue for himself, but he couldn’t find the words; he was indeed disabled.

"People with disabilities like you should stay at home. You can't go to the battlefield, and no male insects will breed with you. You're all a burden on society, and now you're coming out to take up academy resources." The female insect Lim's voice was full of contempt.

Eros retorted, "Our physical disabilities are not of our own volition, and the opportunity to learn is a right granted to us by the Empire. How can you say we are wasting resources?"

"Ha, if it weren't for that meddlesome insect, and the insect queen's favor towards him, how would you have had this opportunity?" The female insect's voice grew increasingly sarcastic in the darkness.

Lim's attitude grew increasingly hostile, while Eros's expression grew calmer. He looked at Lim and said in a measured tone, "Are you so sure that you won't end up with a disability, missing an arm or a leg?"

Eros's words startled Lim for a moment, then he became enraged: "You dare to curse me to lose an arm or a leg? Do you want to get beaten up?"

"You're not leaving here today if I don't break your leg!" With that, Lim's fist slammed into Eros's face.

Eros, of course, wouldn't just stand there and take the beating. Before the fist reached his eye, he instinctively tilted his head to avoid the female insect's attack.

Lim's punch missed, and he immediately changed his attack.

Eros realized that his opponent was serious and quickly dodged.

After Eros dodged several attacks in succession, Lim's expression gradually changed. He realized that the female insect in front of him was not without any ability.

It would be difficult for even ordinary female insects in the Tianxing class to gain any advantage under his claws, but this thin female insect in front of him was able to evade his attacks time and time again.

Eros also noticed something strange. He had never received any training, and when Lim swung his claws at him just now, all his dodges were instinctive.

Dodging it once or twice is considered an accident.

But having dodged it every time, Eros instinctively felt that this was no accident.

It felt as if he had practiced Rim's fighting techniques countless times, until they became muscle memory.

So when Lim's claws struck again, Eros no longer chose to dodge; he let himself follow his instincts:

Just as Lim's claws were about to touch Eros, his wrist suddenly went numb, and then his entire arm bent backward.

Eros's movements were invisible in the darkness. He gripped Lim's wrist tightly, using the force to twist it backward. Taking advantage of the moment when Lim's body was numb, he raised his knee and struck him hard on the back.

Lim's pupils contracted sharply, and his face showed pain. But before he could scream, he suddenly lost his footing and fell heavily to the ground.

Eros's movements were so unpredictable that he didn't even create a breeze; in the blink of an eye, he had already crushed his opponent to the ground.

Not only did Lim find it unbelievable, but even Eros himself found it somewhat incredible.

Eros stood in front of Lim, looking at the female insect lying on the ground, and suddenly some memories he had never had before flashed through his mind.

For a moment, it was as if he were in a noisy arena, where the enthusiastic shouts and clamor from the stands made Eros unable to hear anything else.

The opponent before him had already transformed into a half-insect form, and Eros could almost see the fear and eagerness in its eyes.

Yet he felt no panic whatsoever, as if... as if victory was already assured...

As Eros was recalling this sudden memory, he suddenly heard a clapping sound.

He suddenly came to his senses, only to see that another female insect had already approached him.

"They are very skilled."

Eros turned to look at the female insect approaching him. He noticed that she was wearing a school uniform and was a student in the Comet Class, just like him.

Her tall, black hair hung freely down her back, her red eyes were extremely aggressive, and the lines of her muscles were faintly visible through her tight white school uniform.

He's not a kind person.

Eros scrutinized the insect; it was not missing any limbs, was not deaf, not mute, and not blind... Eros knew in his mind who it was.

"Are you Galilee?"

"Huh, you know me?" The female insect lowered her head and thought for a moment. "Oh, you're the new little female insect who arrived today?"

Gally approached Eros and exclaimed in amazement, "I had heard that a female insect that looked like that one had come to the Comet Squad. I didn't believe it at first, but now that I've seen it with my own eyes, I'm completely convinced."

"Completely convinced?" Eros couldn't understand Galilee's words.

“Yes, no female insect can compare to him.” Galil raised his head and glanced contemptuously at Lim, who was still lying on the ground. “A guy who only spreads rumors and slanders behind people’s backs will never catch his eye or reach his level.”

Eros knew who "he" was when Gally spoke of.

It's Evanson Eastland.

It's not Eros.

Every time Eros heard the name "Evanson," he felt suffocated.

Every time Eros thought he could finally live the life he dreamed of and look forward to a bright future, the name "Evanson" haunted him like a nightmare, impossible to shake off, and preventing him from breathing the air of freedom.

"My name is Eros."

“Oh, I know, I heard about it a long time ago.” Gally nodded and reached out to put his hand on Eros’s shoulder.

But it turned out to be empty.

Eros dodged Gally's outstretched claws, his gaze filled with distance: "My name is Eros, not Evanson. Don't get me wrong."

Gally paused for a moment, then the smile on his face vanished. He slowly withdrew his hand, expressionlessly looking Eros up and down, before suddenly speaking in a viciously sarcastic tone: "Go back and get a mirror to take a good look at your face. You should know what it took for a commoner like you to get here."

"you!"

Eros, unwilling to argue with him, turned and left.

Hearing the constant taunts from behind, Eros clenched his fists, suppressing his inner impulse, and quickened his pace back to the dormitory.

As Eros pushed open the door to the dormitory, Alai was pushing his wheelchair out of the bathroom, still soaking wet.

When Alai saw Eros, he was visibly startled, and then pulled his clothes down a little.

"Oh, it's you back. I'm so sorry, I don't think I've adjusted to suddenly having a roommate yet."

As Eros entered the room, he saw that Alai was completely naked from the waist down, and the anger on his face gradually subsided: "Do you need any help?"

"No, no need, I can do it myself." Alai shook his head, a little embarrassed, and said, "When I'm getting dressed, you can turn around."

Perhaps Alai doesn't mind his physical disability, but he certainly wouldn't want to expose it to the other insects.

Eros nodded and walked out of the dormitory.

Alai moved quickly, and soon the dormitory door was opened a crack.

Alai poked his head out from inside the door and looked at Eros standing in the corner: "You don't seem too happy?"

Eros entered the dormitory and closed the door:

"I ran into two annoying guys."

"You got into a fight with other insects?" Alai asked in surprise, "Are you hurt?"

"No."

“That’s really lucky.” Alai breathed a sigh of relief, pulled Eros to sit down in a chair, and said to him:

"Our Comet Class students shouldn't get into conflicts with students from other classes, or we'll be the ones who suffer."

"The female insects in the Beginner and Star classes are too young, and they don't know how to control their words and actions. The female soldiers in the Heavenly Star class are very difficult to manage because they have been on the battlefield. If you offend them, you are likely to be resented and retaliated against."

"What about the Shining Star Class?" Eros asked.

“We don’t usually see the students in the Shining Star Class. The female soldiers in the class are all officers of the interstellar legions. They spend most of their time serving in their respective legions and only come back for further study during holidays.”

“Alai, you told me today that my deskmate is that female insect named Gali.” Eros looked troubled.

“Yes.” Alai looked at the resentment on Eros’s face, then suddenly realized something and asked with wide eyes, “You didn’t have a conflict with him, did you?”

“I don’t want to get too close to him.” Eros turned his head to one side.

“Sure, but you have to tell me first what he did that made you hate him so much?” Alai calmly looked at Eros’ profile, quietly waiting for the answer.

Eros remained silent.

"Is it because of Lieutenant General Evanson?" Allai asked.

Eros nodded.

“Gali didn’t like Evanson a long time ago because Evanson had killed a male insect from his family.”

"But it was only after the male insect took away Gali's insect wings that he could no longer fly and could no longer go to the battlefield that he began to acknowledge Evanson."

Alai lowered her eyes, her voice gentle:

"Gali is actually a very simple female insect."
