Chapter 169 is all proof that you lived.

“If you and Jiang Yu start talking, other people won’t care about the person who confessed to you.”

Jiang Mian said, "News popularity is always suppressed by other news."

Hearing this, Gong Yan glanced at Jiang Mian and said, "That's your brother."

“Yes. But didn’t you say you like smaller ones?” Jiang Mian said.

If it were Gong Yan, it seems like there's nothing wrong with it, and Jiang Yu would get a good deal.

"You really are... quite accepting, you don't have any resistance at all." Gong Yan clicked her tongue.

Jiang Mian laughed and said, "If I were still alive, I wouldn't have any objections, let alone if I were dead. Now that I'm Jiang Mian, there's even less reason for me to object."

Gong Yan waved her hand helplessly and said, "We'll see. Jiang Yu and I aren't really like that."

Gong Yan didn't really want to mention it, because her relationship with Jiang Yu, to be honest, started after Jiang Mian died.

Their relationship developed from a state of mutual support and comfort in grief.

Gong Yan felt that perhaps love had nothing to do with it at all.

It was just two sad people hugging each other and licking their wounds.

Gong Yan changed the subject, "What brings you here?"

"I missed you." Jiang Mian tilted her head and looked at her.

Gong Yan sat behind her desk, watching her, then slowly smiled and said, "Then keep thinking about it."

There was no trace of the cold and indifferent demeanor she had shown towards the person who had confessed to her.

“You keep working, don’t worry about me,” Jiang Mian said. “I’m safe and sound as long as I’m with you.”

Gong Yan smiled and continued flipping through the case files in her hand, whispering to Jiang Mian, "There's candy in the drawer under the coffee table."

They spoil her rotten.

Jiang Mian took out a candy, put one in her mouth, and squinted her eyes because of the sweetness.

Then he slowly began to speak.

"Do you know that Lu Bozhou has a forbidden area on the third floor of his mansion?" Jiang Mian was just starting a conversation; she didn't really want to know if Gong Yan knew.

Unexpectedly, upon hearing this, Gong Yan, while still looking at the dossier, replied, "That room filled with your belongings?"

"You know that?!" Jiang Mian was now surprised.

"Of course I know." Gong Yan clicked her tongue. "Jiang Yu has fought with him countless times because of this."

“Everyone was very sad after you left. You and he were married for five years and lived in the mansion. Most of your belongings are still there.”

"But that man was like he was sick; he wouldn't let anyone touch him or take him away. Even your parents, who wanted to take some of your belongings back as a keepsake, couldn't get them."

"Lu Bozhou is a mad dog, biting anyone he can get his hands on. No matter how much Jiang Yu provokes or insults him, he's usually too lazy to pay any attention to Jiang Yu."

“But if Jiang Yu mentions anything about wanting to take your things, he will definitely be dealt with by Lu Bozhou.”

“After you died, he remained obsessed with you.” Gong Yan glanced at Jiang Mian. “What? You want to go into that forbidden area? It's full of your own things. It's pointless.”

If we were talking about the past, that forbidden area would have held great significance for Gong Yan as well.

But now, Jiang Mian has arrived. For Gong Yan, that secret room has lost much of its significance.

“I went in,” Jiang Mian said. “I was quite surprised by what I saw inside.”

"What's there to be surprised about? It's all proof that you've lived." Gong Yan originally wanted to remind Jiang Mian to be careful that Lu Bozhou might find out and cause trouble.

But then I thought, what good would it do if he found out? Even if he really got angry at Jiang Mian, what if one day he found out Jiang Mian's true identity...?

“I got my card back,” Jiang Mian said.

"Oh?" Gong Yan asked, "The one you mentioned before?"

“Yes, my retirement money.” Jiang Mian smiled. “I wonder if Lu Bozhou has closed the account for me. He shouldn’t have, since he probably doesn’t know about this account.”

"Probably not," Gong Yan said. "Even if he found out, he probably wouldn't cancel it. If your parents and Xiao Yu hadn't been so determined to fight him back then, he probably wouldn't have even canceled your account."

Jiang Mian was taken aback. She knew that the "household" Gong Yan was referring to was the one with the household registration.

"So don't worry. Although your identity has been cancelled, it won't affect your bank card usage. Just don't withdraw large amounts of cash, and there shouldn't be any major problems. Just withdraw one amount at a time, since you don't have much money anyway."

Gong Yan's words amused Jiang Mian so much that she didn't think too much about the content of Gong Yan's words.

He's not even willing to cancel her identity and household registration?

Jiang Mian stayed in Gong Yan's office, since Gong's office was quite spacious.

She lay lazily on the sofa, looking at her textbook.

Gong Yan was busy with work, and we only chatted for a few minutes occasionally.

Seeing her reading, I asked, "Are you really planning to become a teacher? You're even reading for the teacher qualification exam."

"Maybe? Let's take the exam anyway," Jiang Mian said. "After all, this is my... dream."

Gong Yan could tell that she wasn't talking about Jiang Mian, but the real Jiang Mian.

“If you really wanted to be a teacher, you would be quite suitable. You have a good personality, so you would probably be a good teacher,” Gong Yan said.

Just then, Gong Yan's phone rang.

She picked it up and glanced at it. It was a message from Jiang Yu. She was working and hadn't planned to open it.

But after thinking about it, I unlocked the screen and opened it anyway.

To his surprise, Jiang Yu didn't send a message to chat, but instead sent a video.

Gong Yan opened the video and watched for a few seconds before her eyes widened slightly.

She sat up a few degrees straighter.

I clicked on the video again.

The video, which was less than ten seconds long, made Gong Yan's mouth dry.

"What's wrong?" Jiang Mian happened to look up and saw that Gong Yan's expression was not good, so she asked.

"Mianmian." Gong Yan got up and walked over to the sofa.

Jiang Mian noticed her serious expression and straightened her previously languid posture.

"What's wrong? Why do you look so pale all of a sudden?" Jiang Mian asked, her voice filled with concern.

"Look at this." Gong Yan handed the phone to Jiang Mian.

Jiang Mian saw that it was a short video sent by Jiang Yu.

Gong Yan clicked on it.

The image isn't particularly clear because it was captured from a surveillance camera.

Even so, it's still clear that it's located at some construction site.

The people in the picture are all wearing yellow safety helmets.

But just seconds later, something suddenly fell from the sky!

Then the two people walking side by side suddenly fell down, it's unclear whether they were hit by something falling from above!

Jiang Mian was also shocked by this sudden scene, her eyes widening in disbelief.

“This is…” Jiang Mian’s lips trembled, and she reached out and tapped the screen to play it again.

The video ends after the object falls from the sky and the two people fall to the ground.

But Jiang Mian pointed to one of the two people, "...Is this Lu Bozhou?" [Qiqi is here to ask for votes and recommendations, mwah!]
