The socially awkward villain's furry superpower
Chapter 64 Majesty
The glamorous Supergirl's expression changed, from a hint of reluctant fear to an arrogant sneer, an expression that sent a shiver down Sienna's spine.
“You wouldn’t dare. Do you know how much your moral standards would drop if you did that?” Charm Girl pointed a finger at Sienna’s face. “I don’t know what tricks you’re playing, but they won’t work on me.”
Sienna nearly took a step back to avoid the Charm Girl's fingers.
Almost.
Instead, she flung that hand away, the pain in the back of her wrist and the fleeting feeling of guilt both surprising her.
“No—don’t do that,” Sienna snapped. She swallowed hard, struggling to control her sudden anger. “Don’t point at me like that. And don’t… don’t do what you’re doing anymore.”
The glare of Supergirl was intense; she straightened her posture and stood even taller. This woman possessed an aura of authority that shouldn't belong to someone dressed in such a colorful spandex bodysuit.
“You just let that bastard get away. I had already caught him by now.” She poked Sienna’s chest again.
Sienna took a deep breath, ignoring the pain from where Charm Girl's finger had touched her. "Did you pay for this opportunity?" Sienna asked.
“What?” Charm Girl asked.
"Did you spend money?" Sienna asked, enunciating each word clearly. "Aleya Iakta is very discreet, most of the time. He's even been hiding for a while now, keeping a low profile."
But he received an invitation, which he declined. Then you suddenly appear out of nowhere, and you know where he is even when he's not in uniform.
"Wait, you know him?"
“Shut up,” Sienna said. Her hands trembled at her sides until she felt Athena grasp one of her hands and squeeze it gently. “Are you with them? With that cabal?”
Charm Girl glanced to the side, just for a fleeting moment. The look that flashed across Sienna's sisters' faces when they lied flickered across hers for a brief instant. "What are you talking about?"
“How much did you spend?” Sienna asked. “Or what price did you pay? Did you pay anything at all? How does this work? Did they just tell you where to find him?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” said Charm Girl.
Teddy growled behind Charming Woman, his voice deep and muffled, making the shadows in the dim corners of the factory seem even darker. The deep rumble from his throat grew louder and louder, even drowning out the faintest sounds outside.
"Oh my god, what's wrong with you?" Charm Girl whispered. "I—we were supposed to be on the same side."
“That’s what I thought too,” Sienna said, “but now I’m not so sure.”
Especially when you might be the kind of person who would pay money for opportunities just for a little bit of fame. What exactly did Aleya Iakta do to be such a threat to you or others?
“He’s a bad guy!” said Charm Girl.
Sienna gritted her teeth, swallowing back the words she almost shouted. "He went into hiding after being blackmailed by the cabal, and you chased him for several blocks."
You're setting off those sparklers everywhere in public. I'm sure you know how dazzling those lights are. Did you make sure there weren't any cars around?
That fleeting sense of guilt indicated that the answer to the question was "no".
“In my opinion, what you’re doing now is more like a menace,” Sienna said.
That's not entirely accurate, but she had pushed Charm Girl to the brink. Although Sienna knew that pushing her too hard wasn't a wise move, she couldn't think of any other way. "So, tell me about that cabal."
“I…I don’t know what you’re talking about,” said Charm Girl.
Sienna took a step forward and released Athena's hand so that she could stand directly opposite the heroine.
She was shorter than Charm Woman, but she couldn't feel the difference at that moment. "Tell me the truth."
The heroine muttered a curse under her breath, but her shoulders slumped afterward. "Listen, they told me not to tell anyone about this."
“If you don’t tell them you told me, then there won’t be a problem,” Sienna said.
"Why do you want to know?" said Charm Girl.
"Because they are bad guys, bad guys who are active in this city."
Charming Supergirl shook her head. "No, no, they're not bad guys. Silver Fox told me about them. They help the heroes for a small fee."
“They also help the bad guys,” Sienna said. “They help both sides.”
“I don’t believe you,” said Charm Girl.
“That’s your problem,” Sienna retorted. She almost burst out laughing; the words were so dismissive.
She should have felt embarrassed, but seeing the glamorous Superwoman flinch, she felt a surge of excitement run down her spine.
"Oh my god, what's wrong with you?" said the glamorous Supergirl.
“I’m getting tired of being fooled like this,” Sienna said. “I’m thinking that maybe I should start taking some action.”
She licked her lips. "Let's start by making you tell me everything you know."
“I don’t know much, really,” said Charm Girl. She crossed her arms and looked around. “Well, they texted me. I asked Fox about it, and he said they’re reliable.”
They wanted me to do this sponsorship. The pay... I mean, not great, but not bad either? Then they told me where that lucky guy would be today. And they were right.
"Are you really willing to protect them like this for such a small benefit?" Sienna said.
Charismatic Superwoman scoffed, "At least one of us understands the meaning of loyalty."
The heroine suddenly convulsed, began to gasp for breath, her eyes widened to an almost comical degree, then rolled her eyes upwards and collapsed to the ground.
"what's the situation?"
“Oh dear?” said Athena.
[Action Rewards!]
By intimidating your opponent into a coma and defeating them, you gain the following reward: Skill Slot +1
Sienna blinked at the pop-up notification, then waved it off, before looking at the still-breathing Charm Girl on the ground.
"You...you knocked her unconscious?"
“It’s not my fault,” Athena said. “She’s too weak. I didn’t even push her very hard.”
Teddy's body twisted and transformed back into a girl wearing a pale yellow sundress and a plastic bear mask. "This girl is a bit of a coward."
Athena nodded. "Utterly weak."
Sienna sighed, took a step back, and shook her arms. She felt as if countless needles were pricking her all over, as if she had almost fainted just now.
“But you were really cool just now, sis,” Athena said, “and super scary.”
Teddy nodded. "I thought she was going to be so scared she'd poop and pee herself."
“I… what am I even saying? Never mind, don’t bother answering, I was just saying it offhand,” Sienna said. “We probably have to go.”
Athena gave Sienna a thumbs up, and Teddy skipped over and grabbed Sienna's hand. "Let's go home! We can call that idiot and tell him he owes us a favor."
“Okay,” Sienna said.
She had to call Handshaw and use this information to get something else in return. Besides, he had promised to tell her the location of a safe house.
That might come in handy.
As for Glamour Woman, Sienna believes she can take care of herself.
Sienna reached out her hand to Athena, and after the girl took her hand, Sienna turned and began to walk out of the factory.
When they were in the factory, the sky had already darkened, turning into the deep blue of approaching night.
Her home wasn't far from here; it was just a few blocks towards the school, and then she could walk to her dorm. However, she couldn't walk there dressed like this.
They found a place near another similarly abandoned factory, which had a dilapidated restroom on the first floor.
After hurriedly changing their clothes, they still had to walk home in the dark a few minutes later.
Sienna swiped her phone on the card reader to open the dormitory door, then almost stumbled towards the elevator and returned to her room.
As soon as she saw the bed, she threw herself onto it, not wanting to care about anything else.
Sometimes life can be really exhausting.
She could wait until the morning to reflect on the frustrating reality that she was more of a villain than she had imagined, and think about what to do.
Or perhaps, if she were clever enough, she could do nothing and pretend that she hadn't become so harsh under pressure.
But she felt things wouldn't be that simple.
