The socially awkward villain's furry superpower
Chapter 33 Garage
Homi is not good at running.
His physique isn't bad. His diet isn't very healthy, and as for regular exercise... he doesn't do it at all.
However, he is quite thin, has a fast metabolism, and the medications he takes are quite effective for his digestive system.
But the reality is that since high school—which was several years ago—he has never run for the sake of running again.
But now he's running at breakneck speed, faster than ever before, all thanks to the "momentum" of the two-ton grizzly bear roaring and chasing after him.
The bear roared a few more times and sped up.
Harold's mind was filled with thoughts of how such a behemoth shouldn't be running so fast.
Then, he turned a corner and saw the place where he could save his life.
A garage, old and dilapidated, with several used cars parked in front.
The front door was wide open, and he could vaguely see two mechanics tinkering with something under an old pickup truck.
This wasn't just any garage; it was a place he used to frequent.
It's the place where he paid protection money to the boss, the place where he used to spend hours changing engine oil or repairing brakes in his normal capacity.
This place wasn't exactly his safe house, nor was it a base he was particularly familiar with, but at least he had spent some time here, and that was enough.
He weaved between several parked cars, and amidst a cacophony of car horns, he dashed across the street.
He then sped across the parking lot in front of the garage and rushed into the dimly lit garage. "Get out of the way!" he shouted.
The people working inside glanced at him, and some looked like they were about to complain about him barging in.
But the moment they saw the bear chasing him, they ran away without saying a word.
He only has thirty seconds to unleash his abilities.
Normally, this ability takes effect quite slowly, like a slowly seeping, invisible miasma that will envelop everything in the room.
Then, in his mind, a super-detailed picture appeared of the location and purpose of everything in the room.
Now he unleashed his full power, letting his abilities flood the entire room.
As soon as he touched the control device by the door, he pulled hard, and the electric motor near the ceiling started.
But this speed is too slow.
The bear could practically squeeze into the garage without even having to duck.
However, oil drums and piles of tires are now blocking its way.
Homi swung his arm, causing a tire to roll off the pile of tires and hurtle towards the bear, but the bear swung its paw and knocked the tire aside.
His ability was barely enough to move this thing.
He needs to find a way to buy time.
"Come on, you ugly thing!" he shouted as he placed the laptop and its bag on a toolbox.
The bear obediently charged over, rampaging across the tool tray, knocking parts over wherever it went.
Homi continued to use his abilities as he ran laps around the back of the room.
There were several cars parked there, providing excellent cover; Xiong couldn't maneuver around them as nimbly as he could.
When his power finally filled the entire room and became more concentrated, he began to fight off the bear while searching for something he could use to protect himself or scare the beast away.
Unfortunately, there were no loaded shotguns hidden there for him to use.
Just as the bear got closer and closer to him, closer than he could handle, his abilities sensed something that might come in handy.
There is an emergency release valve on each side of the lift platform holding the truck in the middle.
It's a big, heavy thing. If you open it, the liquid inside the hydraulic jack will flow out, but you need a wrench to unscrew it.
There were quite a few wrenches around.
Homi jumped onto the hood of a car, dodging a bear's claw, and ran towards the far end of the garage.
Meanwhile, two wrenches, under his control, flew across the room without the bear noticing, to the release valve and began to loosen the hose.
He ran to the pickup truck, grabbed a tool from the shelf, kicked open the safety bracket under the truck, and then, guided by his ability, threw the tool backward, hitting the bear squarely on the head.
“Come and get me!” he roared.
By then, the mechanics had long since disappeared, but in a small office on the side, a man was bent over, panting heavily.
The bear bared its teeth at him and then charged across the room toward him.
Just as the bear charged over, Wrench completed his task, the hose loosened, and he used his ability to press the descent button.
Just before the two-ton rusty old pickup truck crashed down on the bear, the bear's eyes widened in shock.
"Boom!" he cheered.
The bear roared again, but this time it was firmly pinned down.
However, an unexpected long arm emerged from under the truck, and had he not been able to warn it in advance, this claw would have knocked him to the ground.
“Yes, you can stay there,” he said.
The bear seemed very unhappy about this, but had no other choice.
Even more interestingly, if it could turn back into a little girl, it would still be crushed under the truck.
"See you later," he said smugly, turning to leave. Just then, he noticed a can full of engine oil nearby.
He also had a disposable lighter in his back pocket.
[New mission!]
Eliminate the opponent
[Reward: For each enemy with superpowers killed, you will receive +3 skill upgrade points and +1 skill slot. Each successful mission completion will increase your "Villain" attribute by +3!]
To accept or to reject?
That bear was trying to kill him just now.
“Accept,” he muttered, then pushed the can over. His ability detected several more gasoline cans behind it, so he thoughtfully knocked them over as well.
Soon, the entire garage was filled with the smell of gasoline.
There was still one person in the garage, hiding in the office, but he could tell that person to run for their life at any time.
"Bye-bye, bear girl," he said, lighting the lighter and letting it fall.
The fire... was quite weak. There was only a small patch of fire on the ground, not very threatening.
He threw a few pieces of rags on it, and after seeing the rags catch fire and the fire start to spread a little, he nodded in satisfaction.
The bear under the truck began to growl softly, and its body began to sway. He felt a little sorry for it.
He grinned to himself and walked to the spot where he had previously tossed his laptop aside.
Go into the garage lobby and office area, and tell that idiot who's still waiting foolishly to get out of this mess.
Then, he encountered a person wearing a mask.
It was the tall, blonde girl in a gangster uniform he had seen before—Sienna.
“Where is Teddy?” she asked. Her voice trembled violently, and her hands shook.
“She’s a bit busy,” he said. “You’ll be busy soon too.”
He realized he still had a lot of anger inside him with nowhere to vent it.
She peered inside past him, then her eyes widened. "It's on fire!" she exclaimed.
“Your bear friend is in the fire,” he said. He enjoyed seeing the fear in her eyes. “Perhaps you’d like to go in and keep her company?”
He moved aside and walked towards the desk in the front hall.
His ability detected a baseball bat under the counter, which he could use to his advantage.
“You, you bastard,” she said.
“That’s scary,” he replied, reaching for the baseball bat on the other side of the counter.
“Sister teleportation,” Sienna said.
He turned his head and looked at her, wondering what she meant by those words.
"Sisters teleport... Teddy."
Immediately, the bear appeared in the room and stood face to face with him.
Its fur was a mess from the hydraulic oil, and the edges were slightly scorched, but judging from the anger in its eyes, it didn't seem to care at all.
"Oh, damn it—"
