The socially awkward villain's furry superpower
Chapter 19 New Skill: Sister Teleportation
Sienna thought that after going out that afternoon, she might not be able to come back.
She was also constantly worried about being ambushed, and that she might run into a hero waiting to capture her and Teddy.
Even worse is when you encounter villains, whose portrayals in the mainstream media, and their actions, are... not very pleasant.
Of course, she and Teddy are exceptions.
She swiped her phone lightly by the dormitory door, and the door opened. Teddy squeezed past her and went inside.
Sienna followed behind, paused briefly, and took a good look around the room. There were some unopened boxes piled up on one side of the room.
If she had any other decent furniture besides her bed, desk, favorite chair, and the air mattress that sticks out halfway from under the bed, these boxes would take up a lot of space.
Teddy quickly took off his hoodie, grabbed the mattress, and lay down on it.
"Are you going to sleep already?" Sienna asked.
Even though Teddy is in human form now, you can still see that she has bear-like traits; you don't need to be very smart to notice that.
This includes those who love to sleep in late.
"No, not yet." Teddy said as he rummaged under Sienna's bed, pulling out a set of pajamas with bear paw prints and a little red book. "I'll read for a while, then I'll go to sleep."
"Oh well."
Sienna didn't have any homework or anything like that, and she could have gone to sleep, but she glanced at her phone and it was only six o'clock.
That's too early.
Moreover, although she was mentally exhausted and her social energy was completely depleted, she was still physically energetic.
But pacing around didn't feel quite right, so she went to the bedside, picked up a small blanket she had bought at a thrift store, and curled up in the chair.
Then I covered myself completely with the blanket, like a warm but somewhat suffocating cocoon.
"What should we do next?" Sienna asked.
She now has two numbers in her phone, one is Handshaw's, and the other is that woman named Melanie.
The former told her to call him if she needed more information on any aspect, and really, anything at all.
The latter told her to notify her in advance if she planned to take any action against Homi.
“I don’t know,” Teddy said, holding the book above his head and turning over to lie on his back. “We could go beat up that Homi and get the hard drive or something back.”
“…Do you really think we can do it?” Sienna asked.
She seriously doubted their chances of success.
"I can't think of any other way. What would happen if they opened those hard drives or something?"
"Then our lives will be ruined."
Sienna said it would be dangerous if they used those things for blackmail or something.
He could use the little information Handshaw had gathered about her to get her to do things for him, or perhaps do something even worse.
Sienna couldn't imagine what it would be like, but she was certain it would be terrible.
"Yeah, in that case I think we'd have to fight them."
Sienna buried herself even deeper into the chair. Could she manage?
“I think…” Sienna finally spoke, “we could, um, try to get the hard drive back? We don’t necessarily have to, uh, fight?”
“Okay,” Teddy said.
"You agree with this idea?" Sienna asked.
Teddy nodded and turned a page of his book. "Of course, boss, this was your idea, right?"
Sienna nodded slowly, acknowledging that it was indeed her idea. "I think we need to become stronger."
Teddy perked up, "Are we going to spend points? But I don't have any traits that I can use to spend points."
"Oh, you don't have any?"
"No. I only have basic skills. I have two upgrade points, but I don't know where to use them."
I can't wait to do something amazing to give my Bear Power a new trait.
I bet it'll be some kind of amazing trait, like a nose that can smell capitalism.
“Uh,” Sienna added, “that sounds…really good.”
She cleared her throat. "Status."
[Name: Sienna Isabella]
[Faction: Villain]
Alias: Boss
[Level: Level 1]
[Superpower: Sister Summoning]
[Sister Creation Level: 1]
[Superpower Gauge: 0]
Skill Upgrade: 3
[Skill Slot: 1]
She has one point that can be used to unlock a secondary ability... something like a trait, and given that she'll probably need it soon...
Are you willing to spend a skill point to unlock the ability: Sister Summoning?
“Yes,” Sienna said.
[New skill unlocked!]
[Sister Teleportation has been added to your abilities!]
After the notification disappeared, Sienna didn't feel anything different.
On the other hand, she didn't find it strange when she first gained the ability.
"state."
[Name: Sienna Isabella]
……
[Ability: Sister Summoning]
[Sister Creation Level: 2]
[Sister Teleportation Level: 1]
……
This time the situation is a little different.
Her creation skill has been upgraded, and now she has a new skill... or rather, a skill trait below it.
Of course, the points she had spent were also gone.
"There's a way to see the specific effects of a skill, right?" Sienna asked Teddy, vaguely remembering that she had checked information about her own skills before.
“That’s right,” Teddy said. “Just say ‘status’ and then add the name of the skill.”
"Status... Sister teleportation."
She moved the status interface she had opened to the side, and a new window popped up in front of her.
[Sister Teleportation Level: 1]
[This can teleport a sister from anywhere in the world to your side. Effective immediately.]
[Activation method: Voice command activation]
Cooldown time: 12 hours
[Maximum number of sisters that can be summoned: one]
“Hmm,” Sienna said after reading the description, “what does the voice command mean?”
"It means you have to say something for it to work." After saying that, Teddy rolled over and lay face down on the bed, his head resting on a pillow, his arms outstretched forward.
"For example... sister teleportation, Teddy?"
Teddy disappeared from her original spot on the mattress and reappeared next to Sienna... in the same position, still suspended three feet in mid-air.
Before the girl could even utter a sound of "Huh?", she landed on her stomach first, falling to the ground with a dull thud.
Sienna jumped up from her seat, her eyes wide open, her arms flailing frantically as she looked at the sprawled-out creature she had summoned.
"Are you OK?"
"Boss, that hurts!" Teddy complained.
“I’m so sorry!” Sienna said.
Teddy rolled over so that her pouty face was facing Sienna. "My belly is all flattened."
Sienna looked the girl up and down. Apart from her possibly hurt pride, she didn't seem to be hurt anywhere else.
"I'm so sorry. I won't do it again."
Teddy sighed, rolled over, and then rolled a few more times until he was back next to her mattress. "At least tell me before you do this. What if I'm sleeping or in the bathroom?"
The thought of that situation made Sienna's cheeks burn, and she decided to save her new skill for an emergency.
She felt that this skill wouldn't be very useful in other situations either.
“That’s my only skill point,” Sienna tried to change the subject. “I’ve used all my remaining points to improve my regular skills, and I’m not sure if I should upgrade this one. It looks… good enough.”
"Are there any limitations?" Teddy asked after lying back down.
"Hmm. There's a twelve-hour cooldown, and you can only summon one sister at a time? These limitations don't seem too bad."
Teddy shrugged; the movement looked a little strange while he was lying down.
"Upgrading skills might simply mean shortening the cooldown time or increasing the number of sisters that can be summoned."
"Is there a level cap for this skill?" Sienna asked. She was curious about how many times she could upgrade this new skill.
"That depends on their traits... Are we going to sleep tonight?"
“I think I should,” Sienna glanced at the time on her phone; it was just past seven. A little early. “However, I still have a lot to think about.”
“Yeah, I guess that’s what the boss does,” Teddy agreed. “Are you planning to find an outfit or something? If I get one, I’d like it to be red with a little bear pattern on it.”
“An outfit?” Sienna repeated, not particularly interested in the idea.
On the other hand, she was even less willing to have her identity exposed after finally succeeding in dealing with someone like Homi, only to have it revealed because someone saw and recognized her.
“We really need to find something to wear, but I don’t know where to start.”
"It doesn't need to be too complicated. Maybe you could ask one of your other underlings? Isn't he known for being very lucky?"
“Aleya, Ikta?” Sienna asked. “Why should I try to call him? I don’t even have his phone number.”
"Can't you find people's phone numbers online? And you can try calling him because he has a great outfit, it's really fancy."
Sienna pondered this idea.
"I will think about it."
I have class tomorrow morning, and then... then maybe I can start taking action in the afternoon.
She didn't have time to wait, otherwise Homi would have started searching through that hard drive.
Sienna sighed.
Before she gained superpowers, her life was so simple.
