Sure enough, in less than ten minutes, Xiaomeng had filled the entire deck of chips. Xiaomeng clapped her hands and pulled the lever one last time.

"Alright, all done, let's go."

Xiao Tang praised her for turning around so cleanly and neatly, while also extending his elbow to her ingratiatingly.

Just as they were about to leave, the machine stopped with a loud bang, startling both of them. Turning around, they saw the machine behind them seemingly vomiting, spewing out chips of all colors and denominations, as if it were trying to expel every last chip in its belly.

Xiao Tang and Xiao Meng were still in the zone, completely bewildered, watching as a huge pile of things rolled to their feet. "What do we do? It's all over the place, we need to use sacks to collect it all. Or maybe we should borrow a broom and dustpan from the front desk?"

As if waking from a dream, Hua Zai took out his walkie-talkie and called for help, then congratulated Xiao Meng with a beaming smile. The two young men quickly spread their arms to block the passage, preventing anyone from getting close.

Then staff members arrived, bringing large canvas bags. Several of them squatted down and helped gather all the chips that were scattered all over the ground.

Xiaomeng was speechless. "What's going on? I was just about to go upstairs to sleep when this whole bunch of people showed up. Are they trying to stop us from leaving?"

Xiao Tang had a sudden inspiration: "This is a very good omen! Winning the lottery at the beginning of the New Year means that everything will go smoothly for us this year, and that we will have a prosperous and successful year."

When Xiaomeng heard what he said, she thought it made sense; it was indeed a good omen.

"Come on, managers and guys, let's share the joy! Each of you can have a handful." Xiaomeng reached into her canvas bag and stuffed a handful into the hands of each of the guys providing service.

Andy Lau won two hands, which made him laugh heartily.

The two were already planning to go back to their room to sleep, so they didn't delay any longer. They handed the large canvas bag full of heavy chips to Hua Zai to help them exchange them. Without looking back, they walked towards the hotel elevator.

Xiaomeng immediately understood. "They've all gone mad. By the way, I heard that if you win a big prize here, they won't be able to redeem it. Is that true?"

"You won by such a small margin that nobody even noticed," Xiao Tang said calmly.

"So that means if you win tens or hundreds of millions, you really will get kicked out? Pshaw, you can't afford to lose."

"Look at what you're saying. Do you think there are any upright gentlemen in this line of work? That's ridiculous."

"So you're still pretty clear-headed after all."

"Everyone says I have high moral character, and my scores on Taoist exams have always been quite high."

What struck Xiaomeng as odd was that along their walk, people kept slipping business cards into their hands. Once inside the elevator, Xiaomeng picked one up and glanced at it. "VIP entertainment hall? What does that mean?"

"It's nothing, they're just middlemen, just throw them away like trash." Xiao Tang didn't even bother to explain. After getting off the elevator, he casually tossed the business cards into the nearby trash can.
