All-around teacher at the magic academy
Chapter 50 Vic
Upon hearing Professor Vic's request, Leon frowned, a look of doubt in his eyes. He pondered for a moment, then turned to Lian and said, "Professor Lian, you should go back first. Professor Vic has some matters that require my help."
Teacher Lian didn't ask any further questions, but simply nodded slightly to show her understanding.
Then, Leon turned to Ilya and said in a calm tone, "Ilya, you should go back too."
After making the arrangements, Leon turned to Teacher Vic and asked firmly, "Where are we going?"
Mr. Vic was surprised that Leon agreed so readily. He was slightly taken aback, but quickly regained his composure and turned to lead Leon toward their destination.
Leon was secretly puzzled, wondering why Vic would make such a request.
But since he's the one who's asking for trouble, I really can't refuse.
Furthermore, he had long harbored resentment towards Vic, and this was a good opportunity to make Vic understand some things.
They came to a secluded corner, where no one was around, so they would obviously not be disturbed by others.
Vic deliberately chose this place because he had no deep-seated hatred for Leon and did not want him to lose face in front of others.
He had his reasons for challenging Leon to a duel. In reality, he was unwilling to do so, even though he had no affection for Leon.
...
"Vic, tell me what's going on here? What gives the dean the right to make this arrangement?!" In Vic's private apartment, Bass angrily questioned him loudly.
“This is the dean’s decision, and your anger towards me won’t change anything,” Vic replied calmly, his brow furrowed.
"Why should the dean replace me? I won't bother with Lean because she's a woman, but who is that Leon?"
What remarkable achievements does he have? What powerful background does he have? He's just an ordinary teacher, how dare he replace me? I will never accept this!" Bass roared furiously, pacing anxiously back and forth in the room.
Vic observed him quietly, guessing that Bass had always been like this—easily angered and reckless, acting without considering the consequences. Perhaps it was precisely because of this personality that the Dean decided to replace him.
However, despite this, Vic still felt the matter was handled poorly. After all, this was no child's play; how could Bass be so easily replaced simply because of some minor issues?
"No, I have to go and argue with the dean. I want to see what this Leon is really capable of." Bass still couldn't accept this decision, and the anger in his heart was hard to quell.
“Don’t be impatient,” Vic tried to persuade him. “This is the Dean’s decision. There’s no point in arguing with him. It might even damage your dignity as a nobleman.”
"Then I'll go directly to Leon. I need to find out what's going on between him and the Dean," Bass said emotionally.
“Don’t be impulsive,” Vic advised. “Let me think of a solution first. If you act rashly like this, you won’t solve the problem and you might make things even worse. Leave this to me.”
Vic knew Bass's personality well. If he were to go to Leon, it would not only fail to solve the problem, but might also cause a bigger conflict. In severe cases, it could even lead to his expulsion from the academy.
Vic's plan was quite straightforward: he intended to find Leon alone first, not to directly persuade him to give up, but to demonstrate his strength by dueling with him, so that Leon would voluntarily back down and thus give up his qualification to participate.
He believed this was the key to solving the problem, and more effective than arguing directly with the dean or Leon.
He believed that Leon was also a person with dignity, as could be seen from his attitude towards him. Leon was equally proud, and once he understood the gap between himself and them, he would naturally take the initiative to go to the dean and ask to have his qualification revoked.
As Vic lay on the ground, his promise to Bass echoed in his mind, and he couldn't help but laugh self-deprecatingly.
He was covered in wounds and didn't even have the strength to stand. His whole body was covered in scars, and even his face was swollen.
Where was there even a trace of nobility in him now? The image of the figure that had brought him so much oppression flashed through his mind, and he realized how absurd his previous thoughts had been.
He couldn't help but ask himself, what right did he have to look down on others? If he couldn't even respect such an opponent, then what was his own value?
What he had always believed in and was proud of had become so insignificant.
He couldn't understand why Leon was so powerful, and why he was completely powerless against him. How did Leon cultivate such strength?
He thought of Bass, his easily angered friend, and felt sorry for his blind confidence. He shouldn't have come here; he should have let Bass face Leon himself. That way, at least he wouldn't be in such a sorry state.
Fortunately, there was no one else here, otherwise the nobles would have lost face. I thought to myself that I had thought I should find a quiet place so as not to hurt Leon's pride, but I never expected that it was prepared for me.
He looked at the figure standing beside him, whose face was calm and composed, as if all of this was perfectly natural.
Suddenly, he felt an unprecedented sense of humiliation. He read indifference in the man's eyes and felt like a ridiculous clown. No wonder the other man looked down on him; in his eyes, he was utterly laughable.
As Vic thought of this, tears streamed down his face. He couldn't control his emotions and lay on the ground in agony, too weak to even wipe away his tears.
He had humiliated himself in front of the other person again, and tears streamed down his face uncontrollably. His heart was filled with resentment and confusion; what had happened to him today? Why had he ended up in such a pathetic state?
Looking at Vic lying on the ground, Leon wondered if he had gone too far. Could it be that he had made Vic cry?
He suddenly felt a little embarrassed, but he didn't know how to comfort him. What if the other man thought he was mocking him?
Thinking of this, Leon realized he couldn't stay there any longer and had to leave quickly. It wasn't his fault; he was the one who invited him, and he had only agreed to his request.
Leon carefully took a few steps back, trying not to make a sound so as not to provoke Vic again.
His gaze lingered on Vic for a moment, trying to find the right words to ease the awkward situation, but in the end he chose to remain silent.
He knew that any words spoken at this moment could be misunderstood, and perhaps keeping his distance was the best option.
As Leon's footsteps faded into the distance, Vic remained lying on the ground, tears streaming down his face uncontrollably.
