Chapter 75 Upgrading Equipment
After returning home, Agreed spent a few long days enjoying intimate moments with Hepburn. After resting at home for a few days, Agreed finally had time to take out the legendary sword and admire it carefully.
In the courtyard, Agreed drew the legendary sword from its scabbard and wielded it with fluid grace, performing a full set of sword techniques. Finally, after sheathing the legendary sword, Agreed shouted with delight, "Awesome! As expected of a weapon forged by dwarves. I wonder what kind of material this alloy is made of. It's light, sharp, tough, and easy to handle. It has all the advantages a weapon can have. It's just a pity that this weapon hasn't been enchanted by a high-level enchanter yet. Speaking of which, Milton should be very interested in it."
So Argreed immediately wrote to his old friend Milton, telling him to come and enchant the dwarven weapons.
Two weeks later, a huge griffin landed with a 'bang!' in the Argreed family's yard. Milton then jumped off the griffin's back in a flurry of activity, kicked open the Argreed family's door, and startled Hepburn, who was playing with her children inside.
But upon recognizing Milton, Hepburn exclaimed in surprise, "Milton?! You're here so fast!"
Milton anxiously asked Hepburn, "Where are the dwarven weapons? Where are they?! Agreed! Agreed, come out here!!"
Seeing his frantic state, Hepburn could only helplessly rub her forehead and explain, "Agreed is in the Adventurers' Guild, and the dwarven weapons are in his hands, you..."
Before Hepburn could finish speaking, Milton turned and ran towards the Adventurers' Guild. At this moment, Agreed's daughter, Serena, looked up and asked Hepburn curiously, "Mom, who is this strange uncle? Why did he kick down our door?"
Hepburn could only awkwardly explain to her daughter, "It's okay, honey. He's your dad's friend. It's just an old habit of his. Let's just play and ignore him."
After some time, the Adventurers' Guild
After exchanging pleasantries with his teammates, Agred got up and walked towards the door, intending to push it open and leave. Unexpectedly, the door was suddenly kicked open from the opposite direction, slamming Agred against the wall with a loud thud, startling everyone into gasping.
Milton then rushed into the Adventurers' Guild, shouting anxiously, "Agreed! Agreed! Where have you been?"
Agred, rubbing his nose which was red from the impact, patted Milton on the shoulder from behind and said, "I'm right here."
Milton turned around and saw him, shouting excitedly, "Where are the dwarven weapons? Bring them out so I can see them, quick, quick, quick, quick, quick!"
Agreed slapped him across the face and yelled, "Calm down! Are you in such a hurry to reincarnate? You're begging me like this. Go home first, and I'll get it for you. Let's go."
Milton quickly grabbed Agreed's hand and said, "Then what are we waiting for? Let's go!"
Some time later, in the courtyard of the Agreed family
Milton carefully stroked the legendary sword in his hand, smiling with longing. His infatuated look made people wonder if he had some unique sexual orientation.
Looking at the scene before him, Agreed couldn't help but complain, "Do you know how weird you look right now? How did you get here so quickly? The Tak Empire is tens of thousands of miles away from here. It would take about ten days for a letter to reach you. Calculate the time... wait! How did you get here?!"
Milton stroked the sword as he explained, "I rode a griffin here, with three griffins to take turns. Two of them died of exhaustion on the way, but I managed to get here as fast as I could."
Upon hearing this news, Agred exclaimed in surprise, "You've exhausted two of those priceless griffins to death like this?"
Hepburn then stepped forward and said, "That's not accurate. The one that fell in our yard is also close to death. Luckily, I used a potion to keep it alive. I just called the veterinarian over, and he said the griffin needs at least a month of rest before it can fly long distances again."
But Milton said nonchalantly, "It's just a few griffins. Who are you two looking down on? I can afford five hundred, let alone two. In the eyes of an enchanter, nothing is more important than a dwarven weapon, unless it's two dwarven weapons." As he spoke, he pressed his face against the sword, smiling with a look of enjoyment and even lewdness.
The griffins, rushing along desperately, were thinking to themselves: "Are you even being polite?"
Agreed's lips twitched, and he said helplessly, "I didn't expect that you still haven't gotten rid of your bad habit of turning your back on everyone else when you see good enchanting materials. By the way, how are you doing these days? Are you married yet?"
Milton scoffed, "Women are nothing compared to this sword. What's the point of getting married? Having a family would only slow down my enchanting speed."
Agreed shook his head worriedly and said, "You're hopeless. Alright, stop touching it. You've almost polished that sword to a shine. Hurry up and start enchanting it. I've already prepared the materials. I'll help you out."
Milton said gently to the legendary sword, "Baby, we're about to enchant you. Just bear with it, it'll be over soon. Good luck."
Agreed shouted with a worried look on his face, "That's enough! If it really doesn't work out, you two can just get married right here. Don't blame me for being blunt, but people like you might become extinct in the future."
Upon hearing this malicious prophecy, Milton blushed and retorted, "Wasn't I just communicating with the enchanted item heart to heart? Otherwise, if the enchantment failed and the sword broke, I would be filled with regret."
Agreed sighed helplessly, "Can't you wish it well for once? And what does the failure of the enchantment have to do with your communication with it? You think you can enchant such a sturdy material as a dwarf weapon? Do you believe I'll break your legs?"
Milton pursed his lips and complained, "After all these years, you still haven't changed your sharp tongue."
"Alright, let's get down to business."
The two then entered the workshop, where they spent seven days engraving hundreds of enchantment arrays on the legendary sword. The hundreds of thousands of gold coins worth of enchanting materials that Agreed had prepared were all used up, but all the effort was worthwhile. Seven days later, the two stared intently at the sword in front of them with their bloodshot eyes from exhaustion. It could be called their most perfect work of their lives. When they completed the task, they cheered and jumped for joy, feeling a great sense of accomplishment.
But Milton then collapsed from exhaustion on the enchanting table, and after settling him in, Agreed returned to his room and fell into a deep sleep.
A day and a night later, Agred woke up in bed, got out of bed and went out of the room and saw Milton groping for something next to his griffin, so Agred went up to ask him.
"What are you looking for?"
“I’m looking for the gift I brought for Serena. Although you’ve been writing to me all these years, all I know is that you have a daughter. As an elder, I haven’t given her any decent gift yet.”
"Well, now that you've enchanted it, you finally remember you're a human being."
"Go away, what kind of nonsense are you spouting? For an enchanter, enchanting is the most important thing in the world, and this is a dwarven weapon! It's an enchanter's lifelong pursuit! You're kidding me, how can I stay calm? That sword is probably the best work I've ever created, so you'd better treat it well. Take good care of it and don't let it get dusty or get wet in the rain."
