Chapter 47 Breaking out of the siege
Argreed and Hepburn rode their dragon steed along the path and were about to escape the borders of Augustus when a giant dragon lizard blocked their way. Sixteen young talents stood on the lizard's back, looking down at them.
Agreed looked up and saw Jones, Leline, and the upperclassmen there. He sighed and asked, "Are you all here to stop me?"
The senior student above sneered, "That's right, we're here to take you back. Surrender, Agreed!"
At this moment, Relina, who was controlling the dragon lizard, said, "I'm the opposite..." As she spoke, the dragon lizard under her feet suddenly went berserk, throwing everyone on its back except Jones and Relina off. Seeing this, Agreed immediately seized the opportunity and instantly cast the spell 'Chain Lightning', which shocked those people. After doing all this, Jones and Relina stood on top and looked at Agreed and shouted.
“We also disapprove of the Mage King’s outrageous marriage. Agrede, you’ve saved us many times, so let’s go and live well with our blessings.” With that, Leline manipulated the dragon lizard to make way for the two of them.
Agred was overjoyed and thanked her profusely, saying, "I will remember this kindness and repay it when I have the chance. Giddy up!" With that, Agred did not linger and rode away with Hepburn.
Watching the dragon steed disappear into the distance, Jones remarked with emotion, "We've at least repaid that favor, haven't we?"
Lei Lina said, "I guess so. Although it wouldn't have been too difficult for him to beat us all by himself, we still helped him anyway."
Jones said incredulously, "There are so many of us and we still can't beat him?"
Lei Lina analyzed soberly: "Do you think you have a chance against a mage who can instantly cast fifth-tier magic? Let alone us mages, it's uncertain whether the dragon lizard under my feet can survive three seconds of repeated bombardment of fifth-tier magic."
Upon hearing this calm analysis, Jones felt a chill run down his spine, but then he seemed to realize something and said with relief, "With him gone, I'll have a chance to win the championship in the Five Great Academies Tournament in the third year."
Lei Lina chuckled and retorted, "Dream on! The championship is definitely mine!"
So the two chatted idly, neither of them panicking about letting Agreed and Hepburn go, because the royal family would never punish them. Both of them were disciples of forbidden spellcasters, and the Augustan royal family dared not offend the Church of Light and two forbidden spellcasters at the same time because of this matter, so they could only pretend to be deaf and dumb about it.
As for Agreed, the two soon left Augustus's territory and rested temporarily in a forest.
Agreed stirred the campfire and said, "Hepburn, you should go to sleep first. We still have a long journey ahead."
Hepburn leaned in and suddenly hugged Agred, saying in a tearful voice, "I'm afraid to sleep, I'm afraid you'll leave me if I fall asleep."
Agreed patted her back gently to comfort her, saying, "Don't worry, I won't leave, I'll never leave. I read your letter, I love you, shall we live together? I'll always be with you. But living with me will be tough, so be prepared."
Hepburn continued, "Believe me, I've really thought it through. I'm not good at saying nice things, but when I say I like you, I really like you, I like you a lot. When I say I love you, I like you so much that I can't help it. So, if possible, I hope you can have the same expectations for me as I do for you. Please believe me, you can always believe me, because I really, really can't bear to disappoint you, because I really, really love you."
After saying that, Hepburn pulled her head off Agreed's shoulder and looked into his eyes. The two leaned closer and closer until they kissed. After a long while, just as they were about to go further, Agreed regained his senses and stopped them, saying, "Wait, let's find a place to stay first. Don't rush, there's still a long way to go."
But where can they go? In this vast world, where can they find refuge?
……
Five years later, in the town of Sunset, in the Avalon Empire, at dawn.
Agreed groggily got out of bed. The blonde beauty beside him was still fast asleep. Agreed didn't dare to wake his wife. He carefully got out of bed, picked up his wand, put on his clothes, and went out.
The Avalon Empire is a small country located in the south. Because it is close to the Orc Empire and is surrounded by wastelands and mountains inhabited by magical beasts, this country reveres martial prowess. Adventurers, mercenaries, and assassins—professions that live on the edge—are everywhere. Therefore, apart from farmers, the country is mostly populated by adventurers. Most importantly, it is a completely neutral country, and the Church of Light cannot interfere with it too much.
So four years ago, Agreed brought Hepburn here and settled down temporarily under assumed names. Later, Agreed made a name for himself in the adventurer circle of Sunset Town with his outstanding strength and had his own adamant steel-class squad called 'Magic Witch'.
Presidian filled Agreed's spatial ring with top-grade magic crystals and magic books, so Agreed wasn't actually short of money. The most important thing for an adventurer is to have a legitimate source of income, and the wages for adventurers are very considerable. Moreover, Agreed's adventurer team wasn't the kind of desperate people who would squander their money before taking on more jobs; instead, they were an elite team with a plan and a clear goal.
In the four years since he arrived here, Agrede has become the town's most recognized adventurer. After five years of arduous training, he has successfully become a great mage. Now, his physical strength, honed by the Magic Crystal Body Refining Technique, has reached an astonishing level comparable to that of a knight.
Agreed strolled toward the Adventurers' Guild, where residents greeted him warmly. For the past four years, Agreed had been dedicated to hunting monsters and resolving crises within the city (such as fires, monster invasions, and human criminals). He was also generous and righteous, though he only helped those in urgent need, not those who were chronically ill. This meant that most of the townspeople had either been saved by him or owed him favors, making Agreed extremely popular in the town.
Before long, Agreed arrived at the Adventurers' Guild in Sunset Town, a three-story detached building with a huge sign made of two swords. Agreed pushed open the door and went into the tavern on the first floor, where he met the first member of his party, the elf 'Heya'.
"Captain, you're here!" Heya jumped happily in front of Agrede when she saw him. Her hot figure and voluptuous body caused all the male adventurers present to have their blood boil instantly.
Argreed was used to this, after all, Hea was an elf with 'gigantomastia', and it was only natural that such a scene would occur when she was sweet-looking and had an eye-catching figure.
"Heya, why are you the only one here? Ike, Sophie, Rayleigh, and Shakda aren't here?" Agreed asked, looking at the empty tavern.
