Chapter 34 Concocting Potions

With Agreed's help, and after half an hour of preparation, they finally succeeded in concocting the disguise potion.

Hepburn's eyes sparkled as she watched the potion being refined from the crucible and finally bottled. Agreed, seeing her so infatuated, couldn't help but ask, "Why do you need a disguise potion? With your beauty, do you really need to disguise yourself?"

Upon hearing this, Hepburn played with her hair and retorted, "Oh, do you think I'm pretty?"

Agreed said candidly, "To be honest, she's beautiful, breathtakingly beautiful, at least that's how I felt when we first met."

Hepburn blushed at the sudden praise and turned away, flustered, and huffed, "I didn't expect you to be such a smooth talker. You're nothing like what the teacher said. You just look honest."

Agreed said helplessly, "Think what you want, but you still haven't told me why you made this disguise potion. This potion is a seventh-tier potion, and the materials alone have cost over a thousand gold coins these past few days. Why did you make this potion?"

Hepburn then explained, "Of course, it's for going out and having fun! My parents are very strict with me. I don't even have the right to leave home except when I'm studying at the academy. With this, I can sneak out." As she spoke, Hepburn looked at the potion in her hand with fascination, her eyes filled with longing for freedom.

Seeing this, Agreed asked in confusion, "You didn't have to do this. If you want to go out and play, why don't you just ask the teacher for a magic item that makes you invisible?"

Hepburn shook her head and said, "No, my house has a magic circle that can detect magical fluctuations. Any form of magical activity other than potions will be detected."

Agreed's eyes narrowed slightly. He had almost guessed Hepburn's identity, so he suggested with great understanding, "Would you like to go out and have some fun? Anyway, no one here will stop you from leaving the academy."

Hepburn immediately became interested and said happily, "Great! But... won't it be a problem if we go out like this?"

Agreed thought for a moment, then turned and walked toward Presidian's house.

A moment later, Agreed ran back with a silver-white mask in his hand and said, "I found this 'Disguise Mask.' Although it can't completely change a person's appearance to avoid detection like a potion, it can make your face look ordinary. That should solve your problem, right? Come on, I haven't been shopping in Augustus for a long time. Interested in going out for some fun?"

Hepburn readily agreed, and for the rest of the semester, Agreed took this suddenly appearing junior sister on various trips, while also helping her learn about potions, which interested her. Their relationship quickly warmed up, and they soon became close friends who could talk about anything. Agreed finally learned his junior sister's full name: Hepburn Isabel Augustus, the daughter of the current Wizard King.

After they became acquainted, Hepburn seemed to open up and talked to Agreed about her complicated family and her somewhat rebellious past. Agreed also opened his heart to the girl without realizing it. He even told her about his blood feud with the Church of Light and his tragic past. The two lonely souls grew closer and closer through their mutual honesty.

Presidian saw the change in the relationship between the two, but he didn't say much. In fact, he was happy to see this situation. Agreed's talent test made Presidian think about finding him a stable backer. The Augustus royal family was naturally the best choice. This is why Presidian readily agreed when the Mage King wanted to send his youngest daughter to study.

The Mage King never imagined he might lose both his wife and his army. His original idea was that, according to intelligence, Presidian's apprentice was just a useless nine-color idiot. Although he didn't know what Presidian was thinking, if his daughter became Presidian's apprentice, she would definitely be groomed as his successor as one of the only two apprentices and the one with exceptional talent.

By then, his relationship with Presidian, the forbidden spellcaster, would be further strengthened, and in the future, his daughter might also become a forbidden spellcaster. No matter how you look at it, this deal would be incredibly profitable.

Unfortunately, all of this was predicated on the assumption that Agreed was truly useless, so the Wizard King's scheme was destined to fail.

This semester, Agreed had been taking his junior sister on trips around, even putting his cultivation on hold. The holiday was fast approaching, and the two senior and junior sisters, who had gotten along well, said their goodbyes at the academy and returned to their respective homes to prepare for the long holiday.

Agreed returned to his cabin somewhat dejectedly. Milton was waiting there early on. When Agreed returned, Milton looked at him with a maternal smile, his amused gaze making Agreed feel uneasy.

So Agreed called out, "Why are you looking at me like that? Are you in heat? Don't look at me with that lewd expression, okay? I'm scared!"

Milton, still with the same expression, slowly leaned closer and questioned, "You're something else, kid. I heard you've been running around with your girlfriend all over the place lately. I never thought someone with such a reserved personality like you could find a girlfriend!"

Agreed was instantly embarrassed and replied, "So that's what you wanted to ask me. I thought you'd experienced something that caused your sexual orientation to change. I was so scared that I ran away."

Milton grabbed Agred by the collar and demanded, "Don't change the subject. Tell me honestly, how far did things go with that girl? Did you go to a hotel?"

Agreed immediately became serious and said, "Shut up, don't talk nonsense. That's my junior sister, not my girlfriend. At most, we're just friends."

Milton chuckled jokingly, “Oh, ‘friend’? We’ve known each other for almost two years now, haven’t you ever taken me around Augustus properly? Should I say you’re a hypocrite who’s all about women or just a double standard? There’s no need for you to pretend between us. What wolf doesn’t want to eat meat?”

Agreed shook his head helplessly and said, "You don't know the specifics. To be honest, I do like that girl, but what can I do? There's no way we can be together. I might have the desire, but I don't have the guts."

Milton nudged him with his elbow and shouted, "Is that your line, you lucky madman? Chasing girls is all about being shameless and reckless. What's the rush? Just go for it!"

Agreed explained, "She's royalty. Do you think the Augustus Empire would be willing to let their precious daughter marry a poor boy? You could even say they don't want Hepburn to have anything to do with a good-for-nothing like me."
