Chapter 27 Snatching

The following day, Agreed and Milton worked together, with Milton using his specially crafted enchanted item, the 'Beast Compass,' to find monsters and process their loot, while Agreed was responsible for killing them and setting traps.

At the end of the day, Agred and Milton sat around the campfire, counting the day's spoils.

Milton smiled as he counted the supplies in his pocket and said to Agreed, "A total of twenty-eight magic crystals, but unfortunately they are all of the lowest quality. Our prey is too weak. But this is already a fast pace. I estimate that the two of us are the fastest among the five academies."

Agreed praised, "It's all thanks to your compass for finding magical beasts. Otherwise, I might not have been able to take down ten magical beasts even after a whole day of work."

Milton, however, modestly replied, "I'm just an assistant. If I found them myself, I wouldn't have any good solutions for those magical beasts either. I'd probably have a lower success rate than you. But this also shows that everyone has their own expertise, and cooperation can always create unexpected good results."

Just then, an arrow flew by and shot the bag of magic crystals out of Milton's hand. At the same time, a group of at least ten people appeared and surrounded the two of them. Then, a young man dressed in fine clothes and carrying various enchanted items came out and called out to the two of them.

"You two brothers have had a good haul! We were fighting tooth and nail with our companions nearby, while you two were just sitting around reaping the benefits. That's really unfair of you! As the saying goes, everyone who sees should share, and we'd like to get a piece of the pie too. What do you guys think?"

Milton recognized the newcomer and quietly leaned close to Agreed, whispering, "This guy is 'Jones' from the Magic Sword Academy. I heard he's the top genius of this year's Magic Sword Academy, and also the disciple of the current principal."

Agreed looked around while striking up a conversation with Jones, looking for a way to break through: "You must be the famous number one genius of the Magic Sword Academy, 'Jones'. It's not impossible for you to get a share, but there are so many of you, my little bit isn't enough."

Jones was amused by Agreed's flattery, and laughed smugly, "That's not your concern. You're quite sensible, young man. We're only after your money, not your life. Leave the goods and you can go. Otherwise... if something unexpected happens, I can't say for sure. After all, the trials in the Monster Forest always have a death quota!"

Agreed ignored Jones's threat and quietly told Milton, without changing his expression, "Close your eyes and turn around."

Milton immediately did as he was told. Agreed stretched out his right hand and instantly cast his self-created spell, 'Radiant Blindness'. This spell was somewhat similar to a flashbang, but since it did not explode and emit light, it did not have a shock effect. Its only function was to temporarily blind the enemy. When Agreed first used it, he almost blinded himself. It was only after his teacher took him to a priest that his eyes, which were almost burned by the strong light, were healed.

Meanwhile, Agreed had somehow donned a pair of magical glasses with an extremely strong light-blocking effect. The sudden burst of light blinded the students surrounding them. Agreed then grabbed Milton's hand and led him to break through the encirclement. The two of them took down an enemy in front of them and tore a hole in the encirclement to escape. Things went very smoothly, and Milton even had time to collect their magic crystals before escaping.

But just as the two ran out, a huge wind blade suddenly flew from behind, about to slice off Milton's head! At that moment, Agreed reacted instantly, tackled Milton to the ground, and narrowly avoided the fatal blow. Then, Agreed stood up and saw that the one who launched the attack was the guy named Jones from before.

This move amazed Agreed. Wind Blade was a third-tier attack spell, and to be able to cast it in such a short time and recover so quickly from the blindness spell, it had to be said that the number one genius of the Magic Sword Academy really had some skills.

Jones didn't hold back and continued chanting before shouting, "You're asking for death, so don't blame me!" As he spoke, a fireball appeared in his hand and shot towards Agred.

Argreed instantly cast his self-created Ice Needle spell. The ice needles collided with the fireball, scattering the fireball in the blink of an eye. The remaining force then struck Jones. Fortunately, Jones's robes quickly lit up and automatically released a protective magic circle to shield him. Otherwise, the ice needles might have killed him directly.

The brief exchange left Jones drenched in cold sweat. That was... instantaneous magic! How old was he?! How could he possess such advanced skills!

After a brief standoff, Agred and Jones slowly retreated. Jones dared not make any more rash moves and eventually had to let Agred and Milton retreat. Jones did not call his companions to chase after them and cause them more trouble. After all, he was there to take advantage of the situation, not to die. Although Jones believed that he had a lot of magical items, he knew that he would definitely not have a good outcome if they really fought, based on the fact that the other party could instantly cast attack magic. He did not want to risk his life.

Just after the two men left, Jones's henchmen finally emerged from their blindness. Jones's number one henchman came to Jones's side and asked, "Boss, why did you let them go?"

Jones looked at the spot where the two had just disappeared and said with a wary expression, "Notify the students of the Magic Sword Academy to avoid those two if they see them again, and not to get into any conflict with them. Those two guys are not simple. I almost died here just now!"

The followers were stunned to hear that their leader had almost been killed, but they dared not say anything and simply warned the students of the Demon Sword Academy as their leader had instructed.

On the other side, Agreed and Milton ran a long way to make sure they had shaken off the enemy before stopping, panting heavily.

Milton, panting heavily, said, "Damn it, those bastards! I didn't expect those guys to just sit back and reap the benefits! It looks like our area will soon be packed with people too. What are we going to do? The 'cake' is only so big, and everyone is scrambling to grab it. If we hunt monsters alone, we'll easily be ambushed."

Agreed took a sip of water from his water bottle, then said angrily, "Then we won't capture any more magical beasts. If they're ruthless, we can be ruthless too. Magic Sword Academy, huh? I'd like to see how many magic crystals you guys have!"

The two exchanged a smile, while the unfortunate students of the Magic Sword Academy were completely unaware of the two cunning individuals they had offended.

The next day, after dawn.

Agreed and Milton returned to the most competitive area and began their "new hunt".

"Quick, that monster is almost done for! Someone else, give it one last hit!"

In a certain part of the Monster Forest, seven students from the Magic Sword Academy were besieging a giant Demon Horned Deer. Soon, with the combined efforts of the group, the Demon Horned Deer fell to the ground. The group skillfully dissected the Demon Horned Deer and took all the high-grade materials from its body. The leading student examined the magic crystal in his hand, which was about the size of his palm. At this moment, he couldn't stop smiling because he had obtained this high-quality magic crystal.

But just as they were still basking in the joy of victory, a sudden bright light appeared, and then he felt as if he had been hit hard on the back of the head. He then lost consciousness. When he woke up again, the student saw that he was naked except for his clothes, as were his six companions. Moreover, the experiences they described were basically the same as his own.
