Chapter 49 First Time Living in a Basement
The tornado didn't look very big, only five or six meters high, and it swept away all the leaves in its path, mixing them all together with the wind.
From a distance, it doesn't look like a tornado; it looks more like a pile of rubble dancing in the wind, spinning in a top shape, heading forward.
Feifei was the first to spot the tornado; he was feeding the horses when he discovered it.
When Feifei saw the tornado coming, she was shocked. Her legs felt like they weren't her own and were stuck to the ground.
It took several seconds before he regained control of his body.
Feifei ran home quickly, not worried about making too much noise and waking Deng Yin, and shouted, "A tornado is coming! Let's run!"
The first to emerge was Wei Wujiang. He looked at the tornado not far away, which was larger than the one that had swept him away the day before.
He ran to Deng Yin's door, and just as he was about to knock, he saw the person inside come out.
Wei Wujiang looked anxious and grabbed Deng Yin's hand, trying to run away.
Deng Yin glanced at the tornado. Just as he had imagined, it was rather ordinary in terms of both size and power.
While Deng Yin was observing the tornado, Gao Ruizhe, who was cooking in the kitchen, came out with a spatula. He held the spatula in one hand and grabbed Feifei's wrist with the other, ready to run away.
He had only run a few steps when he heard Deng Yin speak behind him: "Where are you going?"
Gao Ruizhe was constantly struggling internally, while in reality only two seconds had passed.
Gao Ruizhe threw down the spatula, ran back, and grabbed Deng Yin's wrist with his other hand. "Run! A tornado is coming!"
Deng Xiao didn't move an inch, while Gao Ruizhe looked at her with a "you're asking for trouble" expression.
Deng Yin shook off the two men who were holding her hands: "What's there to be afraid of in this little breeze? Don't go cooking yet. Go with Wei Wujiang and move everything in the yard to the kitchen and the storeroom. Come to my room when you're done. Feifei, go to my room and wait for me."
The two of them froze, not knowing what Deng Yin meant.
Did they know they were going to die, so they stopped running?
Wei Wujiang was the first to take action. He was very strong. The iron pot and the rack together weighed more than 30 pounds and were not easy to lift. He held the pot in one hand, the rack in the other, and lifted a stool with his other hand and walked towards the kitchen.
Gao Ruizhe only came to his senses when he saw that Wei Wujiang had already started to make a move.
He gritted his teeth, deciding to ignore it all. He figured Deng Yin must have some way to save his life, and immediately joined Wei Wujiang in moving things.
Deng Yin, who had successfully shaped a towering image in Gao Ruizhe's mind, walked out of the courtyard. Everything else was fine, but there was nowhere to put the carriage.
I had no choice but to put it in my spatial storage for now and take it out again later.
The tornado moved very slowly. There weren't many things in the yard, and the two of them were moving extremely fast. By the time they finished moving the things and looked at the tornado again, it had only moved forward a little bit.
When the two entered Deng Yin's room, there was no one inside, and there was a huge hole in the floor.
The two exchanged a glance, and Wei Wujiang said, "They're probably downstairs. I'll come down first."
The cave wasn't dark; in fact, it was bright. Wei Wujiang went down empty-handed without taking a candle.
Gao Ruizhe followed closely behind him, never leaving his side.
After descending the steps, there was a tunnel that could be seen to the end at a glance, and Feifei's exclamations of surprise could be heard from time to time.
The two quickened their pace and soon spotted Deng Yin.
Deng Yin was lying on a recliner with a plate of candied fruit beside him. Seeing the two arrive, he held up the plate. "Want some?"
Gao Ruizhe sat on the recliner next to Deng Yin, his hands supporting his face. "Eat!"
Deng Yin picked up a small candied fruit and threw it to Gao Ruizhe, who tilted his head slightly and caught it with his mouth.
Looking at this scene, Wei Wujiang felt inexplicably uneasy and asked Deng Yin, "What about mine?"
Gao Ruizhe turned to look at Wei Wujiang, his face full of disgust. Deng Yin casually picked up a piece of candied fruit and threw it at Wei Wujiang.
It was thrown a little too high, and Wei Wujiang jumped up to catch it.
"Sweet." The boy slightly curled the corners of his mouth, a far cry from his usual demeanor.
That's why everyone loves contrasts, Deng Yin thought, looking at him with a smile, and paused for a moment.
Gao Ruizhe immediately knew something was wrong. Wei Wujiang must have fallen for Deng Yin, and judging from Deng Yin's behavior, there was no guarantee that he wouldn't reciprocate.
This is when Fei Fei should step in. He needs to break the strange bond between the two to prevent things from getting worse.
Gao Ruizhe looked around, but there was no sign of Feifei anywhere, only the sound of his exclamation.
None of them can be trusted!
Gao Ruizhe lightly poked Deng Yin's arm with his finger and said, "Miss, I want more."
This side is quite nice too.
Deng Yin picked up a larger piece of candied fruit and threw it at Gao Ruizhe.
Gao Ruizhe almost missed catching it, but luckily the candied fruit was big, and he managed to bite off a small part of it.
Wei Wujiang had long seen that Gao Ruizhe liked Deng Yin, but she didn't expect him to resort to such a trick.
Even if you teach him this method, he absolutely will not do it.
Gao Ruizhe slowly chewed the candied fruit in his mouth, giving Wei Wujiang a provocative look.
Mu Touwei Wu Jiang immediately understood his gaze; this was the first time he had ever been so enlightened.
Feifei, who had visited every room, ran over excitedly and said to Deng Yin, "Sister, this place you built is so nice! There are so many things I've never seen before."
Deng stood up, let Feifei sit next to her, and casually fed him a piece of candied fruit. "Are you hungry?"
Feifei nodded, and mumbled, "Hungry."
"If you're hungry, take your brother and Wei Wujiang to cook."
"Okay!" Feifei got off the recliner, grabbed one person with each hand, and led them to the kitchen.
While the two were cooking, Feifei began cleaning the living room.
There wasn't much food in the basement, but it would be enough for two or three days. Deng Yin poured the water when Fei Fei wasn't looking. There was no light in the basement; it was all powered by kerosene lamps.
Deng Yin installed a shelf every five steps on the wall, and placed the kerosene lamps on the shelves. When the kerosene lamps ran out, Deng Yin bought a lot of candles.
Although candles are not as convenient as kerosene lamps, they have a different kind of charm when lit and are quite pretty.
Where there are candles, there must be candlesticks. Some candlesticks can only hold one candle, while others can hold up to 36 candles.
A stand that can hold 36 candles can also be called an iron stand. The iron stand extends out like tree branches, and each branch can hold a candle.
It's bright when you put lit candles on everything, but it takes up too much space.
Cooking together is much more efficient. Wei Wujiang truly lives up to his reputation as a male lead; he can even learn to cook so quickly.
The table in the hall wasn't big, and the two of them had made so many dishes that some of them couldn't fit on it.
Fortunately, there was a table of the same type in each room. Wei Wujiang moved a table out of the room and put them together to form a large table.
It's impossible to tell who made it from either the smell or the appearance.
Deng Yin tasted each dish, but judging from the taste, he couldn't tell who made them.
After dinner, Wei Wujiang and Gao Ruizhe were responsible for cleaning the table and washing the dishes, while Feifei was responsible for cleaning the house.
The basement had been uninhabited for a long time, so it was inevitably covered with a thin layer of dust.
Feifei started by cleaning Deng Yin's room. Deng Yin's room was full of things, so cleaning it took a lot of time. Every ornament needed to be carefully wiped with a damp, wrung-out cloth, and often the cloth needed to be washed after wiping each ornament.
Fortunately, the room wasn't very big, and Feifei wiped it meticulously for less than half an hour.
As for the room where the three of them lived, Feifei just mopped the floor and wiped the decorations with a dry cloth.
The first thing to wipe was the decorations in Feifei and Gao Ruizhe's room. By the time they wiped Wei Wujiang's room, the white cloth had turned black.
Three hours later, it was time to prepare dinner again. Gao Ruizhe knocked on Deng Yin's door. "Miss, shall we eat dinner here as well?"
Deng Yin didn't let him in, saying, "Eat here."
I don't know if the tornado has passed, but even if it has, the sand and dust it carried will leave traces in every room.
It's too much trouble to clean up, but since this place is all tidied up, I might as well stay here for the night.
