Chapter 46 Awakening

When the three woke up, it was already broad daylight. Fortunately, they were all dressed warmly enough to avoid freezing to death.

Wei Wujiang was the first to wake up. She rubbed her head, which had hit the hard ground, still feeling a little disoriented.

The second person to wake up was Feifei. When he saw that Wei Wujiang was awake, he quickly shook Gao Ruizhe awake as well.

When Gao Ruizhe woke up, he had not only a headache but also a stomachache.

Seeing that he hadn't realized what was going on, Feifei quickly used her eyes to briefly explain what had happened.

The thought of that dish immediately snapped Gao Ruizhe back to his senses, and he glared angrily at Wei Wujiang.

Wei Wujiang also remembered what had happened before. Looking at Gao Ruizhe, she said apologetically, "This was my fault. I hope you won't tell anyone about it."

Feifei understood the meaning behind his words, and seeing that Gao Ruizhe wanted to say something more, she quickly covered his mouth.

"Okay, okay, don't worry, we won't say anything."

Gao Ruizhe looked at Feifei with a "you coward" expression, but Feifei pretended not to see it.

Feifei only dared to breathe a sigh of relief after seeing Wei Wujiang leave.

Gao Ruizhe said with dissatisfaction, "Why are you afraid of him? This matter will definitely be told. If Deng Yin finds out that he is such a dangerous person, he will definitely kick him out."

Feifei looked at Gao Ruizhe like he was an idiot. "And then what? We've been lying here all night, has Deng Yin come back? Now that Deng Yin isn't home, if you anger Wei Wujiang, neither of us will survive."

"Even if you told Deng Yin about this and she kicked Wei Wujiang out, so what? Deng Yin is just a mission. Do you really want to stay with her forever? Have you forgotten the plate of poison Wei Wujiang made? Just smelling it made us dizzy for so long, which shows how potent it is."

"You can't befriend this kind of person, but you also can't befriend them."

Gao Ruizhe nodded in agreement and patted Feifei on the shoulder. "As expected of my brother, you're really smart!"

Feifei slapped Gao Ruizhe's arm away and said disdainfully, "Don't talk nonsense."

When Deng Yin arrived home, it was already noon. The courtyard was eerily quiet. Logically, it should have been lunchtime, but there was no aroma of food coming from the kitchen.

This servant is utterly incompetent.

Deng Yin was never one to compromise himself. He raised his hand and knocked on Gao Ruizhe's door several times, but no one responded.

Deng Yin opened the door and looked inside.

The charcoal brazier had long since gone out, and the temperature inside the room was about the same as the outside temperature.

Deng Yin knocked on Wei Wujiang's door again, but like Gao Ruizhe, she wasn't in the room.

One disappearing is one thing, but now all three have disappeared. Does that mean they all left together?

Or worse, the three of them were blown away by a tornado.

The yard was arranged exactly as it was when I left, not messy at all, and didn't look like it had been hit by a tornado.

That's hard to say. Wei Wu Jiang is a chosen one, but since he's been praised once, he can certainly be praised a second time.

Deng Yin stopped thinking about the discovery; if he continued, the person's apparent death would become real.

Forget it, I don't want to think about it anymore. Long journeys are exhausting. Although Deng Yin did nothing along the way and even took a nap, he was still very tired.

There was no food at home, so I had to eat whatever was available.

Uncle Li makes stuffed meatballs, drunken fish, and shredded vegetables; Zuiyuelou sells purple tree cake, white jade cake, and pork rib soup.

The dishes were hot when they were put in and hot when they were taken out. Deng Yin didn't have much of an appetite and only ate half of them before putting down his chopsticks.

It's natural to feel sleepy after a full meal, so Deng went back to his room to sleep. He was woken up by a noise.

Four hours earlier, the three of them had taken a short nap outside and returned to their rooms. After a night of cold wind, the first thing they did upon returning was to light a charcoal brazier.

Gao Ruizhe's mind was frozen, and it wasn't until his body warmed up that he understood what Feifei had just said.

He stretched out his arms and opened his hands, squatting in front of the charcoal brazier to warm himself. "You mean Deng Yin didn't come back all night?"

Feifei stared at him in shock.

At least fifteen minutes had passed since he said that. How long does this person's thought process take to realize this now? "Yes, otherwise why would she let us sleep in the yard for one night?"

Gao Ruizhe turned to Feifei and asked, "Are you sure she wouldn't do that?"

Feifei wanted to give a positive answer, but when she thought about how she had kicked a group of beggars out of her house before, she suddenly became uncertain.

"I... I probably wouldn't do something like that..."

Both of them had doubts about Deng Yin's character. They waited until they were warm enough before knocking on Deng Yin's door.

"Miss, are you inside?"

After not receiving a reply for a while, Gao Ruizhe gently pushed open the door. The room was cold, so it seemed that no one was home.

People who don't come home at night never have a good ending; they're either assassinated or eaten by some large animal.

Deng Yin said he would be back before dark, but he hasn't returned yet. Something must have happened to him.

They even dared to steal his target; it seems the other party is really tired of living.

Seeing Gao Ruizhe's expression, Feifei knew what he was up to. "Are you crazy? If it's just the two of us going to find her, we'll probably just be offering ourselves up as cannon fodder."

Gao Ruizhe was furious, as if the fish he had just caught had come back to life and swam away. "Then what do you suggest we do?"

"If we're going, we should also invite Wei Wujiang to go with us." Feifei thought of the plate of poison and became even more convinced of Wei Wujiang's status as a master. "He's a good fighter and can also concoct poisons. With him there, the chances of success are much greater."

Upon hearing that Deng Yin had not returned home that night, Wei Wujiang hurriedly followed the two men out to look for her.

They still hadn't found it by nightfall, and continuing the search would be dangerous, so the group had no choice but to go home and make further plans later.

After a long day, the group sat in the courtyard, analyzing where Deng Yin might have gone.

Gao Ruizhe and Feifei were the ones who spoke the most, while Wei Wujiang remained silent throughout.

Gao Ruizhe was unhappy with his actions. While the two of them were busy discussing how to save Deng Yin, Wei Wujiang remained silent throughout. After all, Deng Yin had saved him.

Ungrateful wretch! A complete ingrate!

Although he looked down on the other person, he didn't say anything sarcastic.

The initial hostility towards him stemmed from the fact that two tigers cannot share the same mountain. Although Gao Ruizhe had always been very confident in his appearance, no one had ever been able to match him, let alone surpass him.

But Wei Wujiang did it.

At the very least, they are evenly matched, and there is even a slight tendency for one to have the upper hand.

Feifei is right. You shouldn't befriend such people, even if you can't befriend them.

Now that Deng Yin's fate is unknown, there is no need for the two to become enemies.

The scene then became like this: Wei Wujiang remained silent with a gloomy face, Gao Ruizhe kept staring at Wei Wujiang with an unpleasant look in his eyes, and the only one in the entire room who came up with a plan to save Deng was Feifei.
