Upon seeing this, Captain Zhang decided to conduct another thorough internal investigation and immediately prepare to interrogate the spy. Regiment Commander Wei remarked, "These Japanese devils are too cunning; they're impossible to guard against!"

Cheng Ying went outside and called two people to lock them all in the cell. Cheng Ying specifically pointed out the Japanese soldier, "Captain, Regiment Commander Wei. This is the one who initially contacted the spies. Question this little devil carefully." Captain Zhang and the others nodded to indicate that they understood.

At this moment, Cheng Ying took out a few antidote pills. "These people were drugged and knocked unconscious by me. This is the antidote. If they don't take it, they will remain unconscious for 24 hours." After Cheng Ying finished speaking, Captain Zhang and Regiment Commander Wei were attracted by Cheng Ying's medicine. Captain Zhang reached out and took the antidote, looking very interested in it.

Commander Wei also came over and looked at the small black pills in Captain Zhang's hand, finding them quite amazing. Commander Wei turned to Cheng Ying and asked, "Did you make these pills yourself?" Captain Zhang also looked at Cheng Ying, expecting her answer.

Cheng Ying said helplessly, "This medicine was indeed made by myself, but not much, because it's very precious. I didn't make many; this is just in case." The implication was clear: don't even think about it; I won't give it to you. This is my secret weapon.

Captain Zhang and Regiment Commander Wei weren't too surprised. "It's such a pity that it can't be mass-produced. Otherwise, it would have been useful in certain situations. Good things are truly more precious when they are scarce!"

Once everything settled down, as evening fell, the soldiers got up one by one. After hearing about the incident, they all cursed the Japanese devils' cunning, exclaiming, "Those little devils, they never stop for a moment! It's impossible to guard against them!" Some added, "Yes, yes, that's right. We were busy all night last night, so we were bound to be sleeping today. They took advantage of this opportunity to launch a sneak attack. From now on, we must be even more careful!"

This incident served as a stark warning to them. These were spies who wanted to release the Japanese prisoners of war first. If they were ambushed in their sleep, they wouldn't even know how they died! The thought sent a chill down their spines.

Two days later, the spy, who was clearly well-trained, remained stubborn and didn't reveal any useful information. However, some of the captured Japanese soldiers who knew some inside details did share a considerable amount of information.

Fortunately, the team had been thoroughly investigated over the past two days, and no more traitors or spies were found. This relieved Captain Zhang and his team. They also had to deal with these Japanese prisoners within the next two days—kill those who needed to be killed, and exchange those who needed to be exchanged—to prevent any future troubles, otherwise who knows what might happen.

After discussion, Captain Zhang and Regiment Commander Wei decided to escort the prisoners to headquarters for further processing. During the transport, the team encountered a sudden storm. The torrential rain and strong winds made the roads muddy and difficult to traverse, forcing the team to slow its pace.

Just then, one of the prisoners seized the opportunity to escape and disappeared into the dense forest. Captain Zhang immediately ordered a pursuit, but the inclement weather made the tracking extremely difficult. However, this escaped prisoner was no ordinary soldier; he was the officer Ōki, and he seemed to be carrying important intelligence. If he were allowed to escape, it could pose a significant threat to the anti-Japanese resistance.

So, Captain Zhang dispatched an elite team to search deep into the forest. The team members carefully traversed the rain, leaving no clue unchecked. Finally, in an abandoned village, they discovered traces of the prisoner…

But unexpectedly, several villagers were sheltering from the rain in this abandoned village. This gave the Japanese officer, Oki, an opportunity. He threatened the villagers, demanding that Captain Zhang and his men clear the way, or he would kill them. Captain Zhang was at a loss. It was a pity that Cheng Ying wasn't there. If she were here, she could easily subdue him using her immobilization technique.

And so the stalemate continued. Captain Zhang shouted, "Stop resisting so stubbornly. You can't escape from here. If you release the villagers, I promise to give you a chance to live." The officer in charge of the large wooden structure could speak some Chinese, but he spoke it awkwardly. "Don't lie to me. I won't fall for it. Get out of the way, or I'll kill these people. Aren't you always so good to the people?"

Now, Captain Zhang didn't know what to do. "Da Mu, let's have a good talk. Don't do anything wrong again. If you hurt any of the villagers, you won't be able to get out of here. We won't let you off the hook. But if you don't hurt them, everything is negotiable."

While Captain Zhang was trying to persuade Da Mu to buy time, he winked at a team member who approached him. Captain Zhang whispered to him, "Go back and get Cheng Ying. Hopefully, we can still make it. I'll stall for time here." Upon hearing this, the team member immediately took a horse and rode it quickly toward the prison.
