My sister is Luna

Chapter 25 Tracking

early morning.

The sun slowly rose, dispelling the darkness of the night.

"Ah... Chef Li, what's for breakfast today?" A young soldier pushed open the kitchen door of the Great Wall camp and asked, yawning.

Hot food was already prepared on the large wooden table, but no one answered him as usual. The young soldier gasped in horror.

"what!!!"

The sound instantly woke everyone who was fast asleep.

"What's wrong, Xiao Du?" Su Lie led a group of people into the kitchen and saw Xiao Du lying on the ground in fright.

"Chef Li... Chef Li is dead!" Xiao Du said in a trembling voice.

"What?" Su Lie quickly looked forward and saw a middle-aged man in a white chef's uniform lying on the ground, his face pale and lifeless, with a faint pink wound on his neck.

Su Lie walked to Chef Li's body and squatted down, looking at his wounds with a solemn expression: "He was assassinated. Someone infiltrated the Great Wall Guard."

"A murder in the kitchen could mean either someone saw him and killed him to cover it up, or he encountered Chef Li cooking in the kitchen and decided to kill him. It seems the food is inedible; the killer may have already poisoned it. The murderer didn't leave a trace, but it's really strange that he just blatantly left the body here."

Su Lie frowned, covered Chef Li's wide-open, lifeless eyes with his hand, and then turned to the crowd and said, "Brother Zhang, go and call Dr. Lai over, and have him test the food for poison."

A short while later, Dr. Lai arrived at the kitchen. He took out a silver needle from his pocket and touched it to the steaming food. Instantly, half of the snow-white silver needle turned a faint grayish-black.

“Commander Su, there is indeed poison in this food. Judging from the color of the silver threads, the toxicity is not very strong. At most, it will only cause diarrhea for a few more days.” Dr. Lai, who was already in his twenties, stroked his long, snow-white beard and said.

"A strange killer." Su Lie stroked his chin thoughtfully. "But the stranger the killer, the harder they are to deal with."

"Don't worry, everyone. I'll handle this properly. Now go back to your posts, and then find a few more people to go to the market to buy groceries," Su Lie said, standing up and looking around at everyone.

They heeded Su Lie's words and returned to their work, but an uncontrollable worry lingered in their hearts.

……

But this is just the beginning. Several people have died silently in the past few days, and each of them has something belonging to someone else on their person. In an instant, all the Great Wall Guards are in a state of panic. They would rather die gloriously on the battlefield than be assassinated and die a miserable death. And the assassin is among them. Is it you? Or him? It's all possible.

Your former comrades-in-arms may become the assassins who end your life. You can no longer trust those you once could. Until one day, this will become the fuse that causes the Great Wall Guard to fall apart so easily.

Cain was certainly aware of this, and he could only think of one person who could assassinate someone so silently, but Cain did not know where that person was.

Cain sat in his small room, staring blankly at Mulan's greatsword.

Several days have passed and he hasn't come to collect the sword. Could he have forgotten about it?

Cain scratched his head, somewhat puzzled.

"squeak."

Suddenly, Kai Kai heard a slight noise. He turned his head, but saw nothing.

boom!

The wooden door was kicked open, and the heroic Mulan walked in; she always appeared and disappeared without a trace.

"Mulan, what brings you here?"

"Come and take my sword." Mulan glanced at Cain, then picked up the greatsword that was in the corner and slung it over her shoulder.

"You finally remembered! I thought you gave it to me," Cain said jokingly.

"You didn't even remind me! If I hadn't remembered, you really would have just left it here to collect dust forever," Mulan rolled her eyes and said irritably.

"Oh dear, oh dear, so many things have happened lately that I forgot."

"Let's go out on patrol and see if we can run into that assassin."

"Wait for me." Cain quickly picked up his blade and followed Mulan out of the room.

……

night.

By the end of the day, Cain and Mulan had found no clues. The flames on the Great Wall flickered, bringing the last vestiges of light in the darkness, and everyone remained vigilant.

Now, within this 800-meter radius of the Great Wall, only Mulan, Cain, and Li Xin are guarding it.

"We found nothing, Li Xin. Who is this murderer you mentioned?" Cain asked Li Xin, leaning against the railing. Hua Mulan stood to Cain's right with her arms crossed, her head down, seemingly lost in thought.

"I don't know," Li Xin said, shaking his head. His eyes were fixed on the bright flames. These assassinations reminded him of the person who had almost killed him, the one who shared his suffering.

"Sigh, it's time to change shifts. I'm going back to rest now." With that, Cain left Li Xin and Hua Mulan and walked down the Great Wall.

!!!

As he descended the last step of the Great Wall, Cain suddenly felt a chilling cold. A sharp, piercing sense of danger rushed to his mind. Without thinking, he rolled on the ground, drew his blade, and swung it horizontally.

"Ding……"

A small, gleaming silver knife was knocked away by Cain.

Cain saw a man standing in the darkness at the corner of the city wall. A black mask covered his face, and his blue eyes stared at him like a ghost, sending chills down his spine.

Seeing that its attack had missed, the "ghost" climbed the city wall, trying to escape.

"Stop! Don't run!" Cain shouted and quickly gave chase.

It really is you, Prince Lanling!

The moment Cain saw the man with the familiar mask and long purple hair from the game as "Ghost" jumped onto the Great Wall and was illuminated by the flames, he knew his true identity.

"What's going on?" Li Xin asked Mulan, looking at Cain who seemed to be chasing something.

"The murderer has appeared. Come on, let's go catch him together with Cain." Mulan leaped into the air and chased after Cain.

Li Xin immediately drew his sword and chased after them.

Lanling Wang, who had been relentlessly pursued, turned his head slightly and frowned as he looked at Cain, who was hot on his heels. He then threw a flying knife, trying to stop Cain's advance.

Unfortunately, Cain blocked it with his sword.

I was a bit too hasty earlier; I should have waited a little longer before taking action.

As Lanling Wang raced forward, he calmly analyzed the situation in his mind.

"That troublesome fellow," Lanling Wang muttered. He led Cain to a remote part of the Great Wall, hoping to shake him off completely by using this unfamiliar place.

Suddenly, a crimson figure blocked Lanling King's path, and a tall figure slowly approached from the left, followed by Cain who had caught up. Lanling King stopped and looked coldly at the three approaching figures.

"You can't escape today, surrender now," Cain said, raising his blade.

As the three approached, Lanling Wang calmly pondered the situation and slowly retreated. As he leaned against the city wall, he suddenly sensed an unusual fluctuation. It seemed to be empty, leading to another place, perhaps safe, perhaps dangerous.

Lanling Wang made a snap decision, jumped towards the source of the ripples, and then disappeared.

"Don't run!" Cain chased after him.

"Cain, don't be impulsive!" Mulan shouted hurriedly, but seeing Cain had already jumped in, she had no choice but to quickly follow him out of concern for him.

Seeing that he was the only one left, Li Xin hesitated for a moment before jumping into the passage.
