My sister is Luna
Chapter 15 A Quiet Change (Part 2)
As the first rays of dawn pierce the darkness, the pitch-black night sky is illuminated.
Milady and Cain began a three-month cohabitation.
During the first month, Cain treated Milady's curse three times a day, and some of the crystals would fall off each day. During the process, to avoid the awkwardness of the first time, the two would always chat tacitly as a "medical method." Sometimes Cain would offer some suggestions, and sometimes Milady would quote classical texts.
The two talked about everything from everyday life to their ideals, and even the social problems of Haidu. Some of their insights were so novel that Milady took notice.
In particular, when it came to the question of who the consul serves, the two, though differing in opinion, provided Milady with a different perspective. Some of the political issues that had been troubling her suddenly became clear, and Milady benefited greatly from this, smiling more often and growing to appreciate Cain more and more.
Meanwhile, research on golden energy also made progress. After a lot of repetitive research, on the twenty-ninth day, Milady decided on the next step.
"Take off your shirt first," Milady said, putting down the documents in her hand.
"Oh." Cain took off his clothes as Milady had instructed, revealing his perfect upper body, and lay down on the research bed.
Although Cain was used to being naked, Milady still found this "work of art" endlessly fascinating and couldn't help but want to look at it more.
"Your condition is good. You can summon all of your golden energy now."
Milady suppressed her excitement and casually swayed Cain's body. After spending these days together, she was already very familiar with his body. She knew exactly which parts of his skin were thick and thin, which parts were sensitive and which were not. She knew it all perfectly well and it was firmly engraved in her mind.
Cain began to slowly mobilize the energy within his body, and soon a circular golden energy appeared in his palm again, while a wisp of blue energy remained fixed in place.
"Do not move."
Milady took out a vial of Cain's blood, which she had carefully researched and cultivated, and slowly dripped the blood into the blue energy.
Suddenly, the blue energy stirred, emitting astonishing heat. Blood evaporated instantly, and the golden energy began to tremble and churn like boiling water.
"Uh..." The desire to kill was stimulated by the blue energy and erupted again. Cain's muscles tensed up. He picked up the restraints by the bed and wrapped them around himself. The desire was not very strong. He could grit his teeth and endure it. His melancholy temperament was even better.
Milady watched Cain with wary eyes. She noticed how similar Cain's expression was to her own, who had always fought the curse alone, licking her wounds in the darkness. Cain was fearful in the face of the curse, yet she never yielded. All her scars were transformed into awe-inspiring strength and hidden beneath her noble dignity. No one knew that she was a lone wolf, accompanied only by cold machinery.
But Cain's arrival changed everything. He entered her monotonous life and gave Milady, who was trapped by the curse, hope. He was able to face herself calmly and make herself laugh. He gave her a different feeling. He was fighting the curse just like her. He joined her team to fight the curse. For the first time, she felt like she had met a fellow traveler on a long journey, even though it wasn't for very long.
Milady found that having a companion to travel with seemed like a good idea.
We will share each other's pain... You can heal me, and I will heal you! Milady's heart was filled with fighting spirit.
How much longer are you going to hold me?
Milady snapped out of her daze and realized she was actually hugging Cain tightly. A blush crept across her face. Then, she casually released Cain, her expression calm.
"Ahem, don't misunderstand. Seeing how much pain you're in, I'm just offering some comfort as a reward for your consistent research. Aren't you grateful to me?"
However, Cain noticed her reddened ears hidden under her hair; her earlobes were bright red and looked like tempting cherries.
"Yes, yes, thank you very much, Lady Milady." Cain didn't expose the fact that the two had become very familiar friends through their conversation. He gave a teasing smile and then pretended to bow with one hand on his chest.
“That’s right, I’ll reluctantly accept your thanks.” Milady raised her long neck and nodded, trying her best not to look at Cain.
Then he added, "Now let me see how your energy is doing."
Cain then realized he was holding something in his hand, and when he opened it—
Without any manipulation, the golden energy transformed into a golden block with a clearly visible blue sliver embedded within it, looking exactly like the golden fragment that Cain had touched before his transmigration.
“This is its original form, a fragment,” Cain said.
Milady examined the golden fragments closely, a hint of shock flashing in her eyes.
It is said to be fragments, yet it is a whole, as if it were created by nature. It can be seen that it was once part of something, but it is also a complete individual. It is both a combination and an independence, with a subtle and indescribable balance.
Milady exclaimed in amazement, "The craftsmanship and design concepts far surpass the current world level. I can conclude that this is a product of the divine era, and the most exquisite creation! It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that a complete version of it rivals a miracle!"
"This is the thing that brought me here, it's much better than anything from the gods, right?" Cain, however, was unconvinced.
"That's really something. Now that we know its true nature, what should we do next?"
“Of course, it involves research, calculation, verification, experimentation, and finally separation.” Milady smiled confidently.
By the second month, most of Milady's curse crystals had faded, which further fueled her enthusiasm. However, this enthusiasm was largely exhausted after seven days. Apart from some progress on the seventh day, Milady's research began to stagnate.
Faced with products far ahead of their time, no contemporary technology can do anything about them; there is a huge gap between the two, and the calculations, verifications, and various preparations required to bridge it consume enormous human resources and time.
Cain didn't have that much time or patience to wait, because he wanted to return to Luna and his parents as soon as possible in a "mentally normal" state.
“Cain, give me ten years. I can crack it in just ten years,” Milady said confidently. The second month has passed, and her research has made no progress.
"I understand," Cain replied, but he had other plans in mind. So, he really still had to go to the East?
The thought of leaving was gradually rising in Cain's mind. He was very grateful for Milady's help, but he knew that she was still far from success, which was beyond her capabilities. Cain had seen her hard work day and night, and he had come to regard Milady as a good friend after spending so much time with her.
After curing Milady of the curse, Cain decided to set off.
