Jiang Weiguo stopped in his tracks, clenched his fists, hesitated, and looked back at An Jie with a pained and conflicted expression.

An Jie's heart skipped a beat. She still felt sorry for her son. She moved her lips, wanting to say something gentle, but Jiang Weiguo beat her to it.

"Mom, I'll go see her off."

After saying this in a muffled voice, Jiang Weiguo rushed out of the house.

On the way to the dock, Jiang Weiguo thought about many things. His mother didn't like Xiaobai, but because of him, she hadn't shown any dislike for the past two days.

Bai Hongmei is sensitive. She believes that her family has done everything they can to take care of her, but she still feels uncomfortable.

Bai Hongmei seemed to be incompatible with the feng shui of his family, as no one in the Jiang family liked her.

This made Jiang Weiguo hesitate about the relationship. His wife couldn't stay in touch with his family forever. Perhaps separating would be better for both of them.

By the time Jiang Weiguo arrived at the dock, his expression had hardened; he had made his decision.

The ship hadn't departed yet, and Bai Hongmei was carrying her luggage, preparing to board. When she saw Jiang Weiguo catching up, a surprised smile involuntarily appeared on her face.

Bai Hongmei couldn't help but take a few steps closer to him, calling out expectantly, "Weiguo?"

Jiang Weiguo avoided her gaze, bent down and picked up her luggage, saying, "I'll see you off."

Upon hearing this, Bai Hongmei's smile slowly faded, and she asked nervously, "Weiguo, aren't you coming with me?"

"Xiaobai, I want to think about our relationship again."

Jiang Weiguo looked directly into Bai Hongmei's eyes and finally tactfully said the words of breaking up.

"What...what do you mean? You want to break up with me?"

Bai Hongmei's tears streamed down her face as she stared at Jiang Weiguo in disbelief.

Seeing her tears, Jiang Weiguo took out some tissues from his pocket and handed them to her, only whispering, "I'm sorry."

Bai Hongmei understood what he meant; he had made his choice between himself and his family.

So she slapped Jiang Weiguo's hand away hard, "I hate you!"

Then Bai Hongmei picked up her luggage and boarded the ship without looking back.

As the ship's horn sounded, Jiang Weiguo stood on the shore, watching the ship gradually shrink until it disappeared from sight.

When he got home, Anjie immediately stood up and looked at him with concern.

"Big brother, your girlfriend, she..." Lin Wangshu looked behind him and, seeing no one there, asked tentatively.

"She's gone." Having just ended his first love, Jiang Weiguo looked somewhat sullen.

"Weiguo, if you really like her, go find her. After all, she's the one you'll spend your life with. Your feelings are the most important thing."

Anjie had just been silently convincing herself, but now she finally couldn't help but speak up.

Jiang Weiguo shook his head. "Mom, this has nothing to do with you. We already had problems, and this is just a matter of cutting our losses."

Actually, not only Bai Hongmei was unhappy these past few days, but Jiang Weiguo was also uncomfortable, ever since Bai Hongmei's first day on the ship, when she looked down on An Jie.

Furthermore, her lukewarm response to the warm attitude of her family was unacceptable to Jiang Weiguo.

An Jie carefully examined his expression and realized that this wasn't Jiang Weiguo saying something in a fit of pique, which finally put her mind at ease.

"Alright, stay home for a few more days. You haven't had a proper stay at home since you joined the army, have you?"

Jiang Weiguo thought about it and agreed. Since joining the army, he had only taken two leave. The last time, he had a boring time with Jiang Changyi, and this time it almost ended badly.

Because Jiang Weiguo seemed to have matured a bit this time, An Jie has been having a great time these past few days, humming songs happily every day.

This made Jiang Defu jealous. He was a grown man standing in front of An Jie every day, but she didn't seem very happy. However, as soon as her son came back, she was as excited as if she had been injected with chicken blood.

After hearing this, An Jie rolled her eyes at him. Her son was her own flesh and blood; how could he compare?

When Jiang Weiguo finished his vacation, An Jie went to the dock to see him off. Although she was still reluctant to part with him, she didn't sit on the rooftop and silently shed tears while looking into the distance, unlike in the TV series.

After spending their holiday on the island, Lin Wangshu and Ya Ning left together, since Ya Ning's school was in Qingdao.

So An Jie and Jiang Defu were relatively at ease, because the An family members all worked and lived in Qingdao, and could take care of Ya Ning.

Because Lin Wangshu was experienced and the eldest sister, she planned to accompany Ya Ning to university registration first, and then return to Beijing.

On the day of registration, An Tai and his wife, along with An Xin, also came. Ya Ning rarely saw them and seemed a little embarrassed.

“We can’t go to Wangshu because the school is too far away, but Ya Ning’s school is right next door, so of course I, as her uncle, have to come.”

The An couple were genuinely happy for Ya Ning, and An's sister-in-law's laughter filled the air as they spoke.

An Xin took a handkerchief and wiped the sweat from their foreheads. She spoke slowly and deliberately, "There's a lot going on at the start of the semester. I was worried you wouldn't be able to handle it, so I took leave to come and check on you."

Her face wore a perfectly gentle smile, which made Lin Wangshu feel very comfortable.

"Thank you, Uncle and Aunt, and Auntie. If it were just the two of us, we really wouldn't be able to manage," Lin Wangshu said with a polite smile.

"Hey, kid, why are you being so polite with us?" Aunt An nudged An Tai, urging him to help carry the luggage.

After they finished their work, they gathered together for dinner. Sister-in-law An asked Lin Wangshu with a hint of gossip, "You and Weidong have been together for several years now, why aren't you married yet?"

Lin Wangshu chuckled; this was the first time she had ever encountered an elder urging her to get married. "Auntie, we're not in a rush. We plan to wait until after graduation."

Sister-in-law An strongly disagreed, saying, "Going to university won't delay getting married. If you're not in a hurry, aren't your parents too?"

“They’re not in a hurry. My dad would love for them to get married later.” Ya Ning, who was slurping noodles, spoke up for her older sister, her words muffled.

Lin Wangshu nodded with a smile, "Yes, my dad said that the most important thing for me right now is not getting married."

Sister-in-law An looked a little sullen for a moment, and An Tai nudged her with his elbow, "Why do you care so much?"

"We're just chatting casually, catching up on everyday things," Sister-in-law An said with an awkward smile.

As if to prove she was telling the truth, Sister-in-law An turned to An Xin and asked, "Is your An Ran dating someone too? I saw her getting quite close to a man last time."

An Ran? Lin Wangshu raised an eyebrow upon hearing this and looked at An Xin with curiosity. Could this man be Jiang Changyi?

An Xin was caught off guard by her question and quickly glanced at Lin Wangshu and Ya Ning, looking somewhat flustered.
