Parents' Love: My Childhood Sweethearts with Jiang Weidong

Chapter 88 Bai Hongmei Leaves the Island in a huff

Jiang Weiguo, on the other side, was also feeling aggrieved. He was puzzled and asked, "Xiaobai, why are you unhappy today?"

Bai Hongmei lowered her head and fiddled with her hands, remaining silent for a long time before finally saying, "Because of that Lin Wangshu, I don't like her."

Jiang Weiguo was shocked. "Because of Wang Shu? Why? What did she do to you?"

"Because she looks down on me, and shouldn't we be the main characters today? Your family seems to care more about her now that she's here!"

"And me? I was completely ignored. Do you know how embarrassing it was for me to stand there like an idiot?"

"She's also your brother's girlfriend, but she's clearly more popular with your family than I am, which really upsets me!"

Bai Hongmei had been holding back her emotions all day, and now they finally erupted. She blurted out everything on her mind without a care in the world.

Jiang Weiguo was utterly dumbfounded. He hadn't expected Bai Hongmei to think so complicatedly. "Xiao Bai, you don't need to treat Wang Shu as my brother's girlfriend first. More than that, she's my sister."

“She’s a member of the Jiang family, and my parents treat her like their own daughter. She hasn’t been home for six months, so isn’t it normal for my mom to care about her? Why are you jealous of her?”

Jiang Weiguo earnestly advised Bai Hongmei, who was the first girl he liked, and he didn't want things to end because of unnecessary arguments.

Bai Hongmei had gradually calmed down; she knew that Jiang Weiguo would never understand her sadness.

Finally, tilting his head back, he forced back the tears that had been welling up. "Weiguo, let's leave tomorrow. I don't want to stay here anymore."

Jiang Weiguo was somewhat frustrated and sighed, "Let's stay another day. I finally got to go home and don't want to leave in such a hurry. For my sake, can you hold on for one more day?"

Bai Hongmei looked at Jiang Weiguo's slightly pleading gaze, hesitated for a moment, bit her lip, and finally nodded in agreement.

After a sleepless night on the island, Bai Hongmei got up very early. The air on Songshan Island was still very fresh in the early morning, which made her feel much better.

Holding a burnt-out matchstick, Bai Hongmei carefully drew her eyebrows in front of the mirror, a scene that An Jie happened to see outside the window.

Anjie frowned as she watched, muttered something about how petty, and then stormed back to her room. Out of sight, out of mind, she wanted to avoid further upsetting herself.

After a peaceful morning, Bai Hongmei relaxed a bit, which pleased Jiang Weiguo. He still hoped to stay at home for a few more days.

In the afternoon, Lin Wangshu and Ya Ning chatted with An Jie, telling her about their interesting experiences at university. Ya Ning listened attentively, after all, she was about to step onto the university campus herself.

Bai Hongmei listened attentively from the side. She had never been to university and was very curious about university life.

"Big sister, do you students studying acting also need to learn some traditional opera? How are you doing? Can you give us a performance?"

Ya Ning clapped excitedly, encouraging Lin Wangshu to showcase her talents.

Jiang Weiguo also wanted to broaden his horizons, "Yes, Wangshu, let us see what you've learned in the past six months."

Lin Wangshu saw that they were all making a fuss, and An Jie was also looking at her with a smile, obviously wanting to see it too.

So Lin Wangshu stood up generously, "Alright then, I'll entertain my mother in colorful clothes this once, for her sake."

Clearing her throat, Lin Wangshu struck a pose, made a few simple gestures, and then sang a few lines a cappella.

She had only attended a few classes and seemed unprofessional, but she showed no fear whatsoever.

Anjie and Ya Ning hadn't watched many plays before, but they both thought it was good and applauded enthusiastically.

Bai Hongmei couldn't help but chuckle as she looked at it. An Jie noticed and glanced at her, his expression already turning sour.

Jiang Weiguo, however, was completely oblivious. Seeing that the atmosphere was just right, he nudged Bai Hongmei and said, "Xiao Bai, you sing so well, why don't you go up and give it a try?"

Bai Hongmei makes a living through opera and is quite confident in it, so she only pretended to decline a couple of times before walking up to the crowd with a big smile.

One can only say that professionals are indeed professionals; Bai Hongmei's voice is clear and bright, and every move she makes is pleasing to the eye.

Lin Wangshu watched with great interest and applauded generously, but An Jie's reaction was indifferent.

Jiang Weiguo put his arm around Bai Hongmei and said with pride, "How was it? You sang well, didn't you? Wangshu, if there's anything you don't understand, just ask Xiaobai for help."

Before Lin Wangshu could say anything, An Jie objected, snorting, "What kind of older brother are you? Your sister finally gets a break, and you make her study. If Wei Dong finds out, he'll be furious with you."

"It's my fault, Mom. Please don't tell Weidong. That kid is so annoying. Once you get involved, you can't get rid of him."

Jiang Weiguo begged for mercy with a pained expression. It was rare for him to act so silly, and An Jie burst into laughter.

Lin Wangshu glared at him, feigning displeasure, and said, "Well, so this is how you see Weidong."

"Big brother, have you forgotten? They're family now. You'd better watch your words in the future," Ya Ning said to Jiang Weiguo with a smile, holding Lin Wangshu in her arms.

The four of them were chatting and laughing, and Bai Hongmei couldn't get a word in edgewise. She couldn't help but scratch the inside of her water glass.

After things calmed down, Bai Hongmei suddenly said to Lin Wangshu, "Actually, it's not really about giving pointers, but this is a skill I learned as a child. Now that your bones are hardened, it won't be easy for you to learn like me."

"But if you really want to learn, I can teach you."

As she spoke, she sat very upright, with a hint of superiority in her eyes, looking down at Lin Wangshu as if waiting for her to take the initiative to become her disciple.

Lin Wangshu was stunned. She blinked, not quite understanding. Wasn't this the previous topic? Was she not on the same wavelength as the others?

An Jie's face immediately fell, and Jiang Weiguo also quietly tugged at Bai Hongmei's clothes on the back.

"No need. Wangshu won't be making a living by singing opera anymore, and she has proper teachers. There's no need to trouble Xiaobai."

Although Anjie was angry inside, she still kept smiling on the surface, though she looked a little cold.

Bai Hongmei was provoked. She remembered the day she came and Lin Wangshu whispered in her ear that she was a prostitute. She felt that both mother and daughter looked down on her, and her eyes immediately reddened.

She stood up as if she couldn't bear the humiliation, ran to her room, and slammed the door shut with a bang.

Jiang Weiguo knew she was angry again. He sighed heavily but didn't even get up to coax her.

After a while, another sound was heard, and Bai Hongmei ran out of the gate.

Ya Ning sensed something was wrong and quickly chased after him to see what was happening. Then she jogged back and shouted at Jiang Weiguo.

"Brother, something bad has happened! Your girlfriend has gone to the docks."

Upon hearing this, Jiang Weiguo was about to chase after her, but An Jie stopped him, saying, "Weiguo, I don't like your girlfriend very much."

"It's not just me, my whole family doesn't like it very much."

"All I want to ask you now is, are you choosing her or our family!"
