Flash Marriage with Dr. Huo

On a cold winter night, the biting cold wind blew and the sky darkened early.

Tang Xiaqing finished a busy day at work and walked out of the company building. She wrapped herself tightly in her long, off-white wool coat, the furry collar making her delicate face look even smaller.

A burgundy cashmere scarf wrapped around her neck adds a touch of color to this cold winter night.

Huo Chenjun was on a business trip, and Tang Xiaqing suddenly wanted to take a walk by the river alone and watch the people coming and going.

She walked slowly along the street towards the river. The river breeze blew in her face, making her hair a little messy.

The dim lights on the riverbank were reflected in the shimmering water, creating a dreamlike scene. Among the people coming and going, some were wrapped in thick down jackets; others hurried by with their necks hunched.

Tang Xiaqing was strolling on the trail by the river. When she looked up inadvertently, she saw a familiar figure walking towards her from the opposite direction.

It was Gu Zhian. He was wearing a long, dark grey coat, simple yet elegant in style, which accentuated his tall and slender figure.

The two men gradually approached and their eyes met.

Tang Xiaqing was slightly startled, then she smiled politely and said softly, "What a coincidence." Gu Zhian raised the corner of his mouth slightly and nodded, "Yeah, what a coincidence. You are here for a walk too." The cold wind blew, and the air between the two seemed to condense a little.

After a brief silence, Tang Xiaqing took a deep breath, raised her head, looked directly into Gu Zhian's eyes, and asked, "Does your group's cooperation with our group's supermarket project have anything to do with me? Or is it a purely commercial cooperation?"

Upon hearing this question, Gu Zhian slowly said, "From a business perspective. This cooperation holds significant benefits for both groups. After your marketing department contacted our group, we made the final decision after a comprehensive evaluation. Your Tanghai Group has always had excellent performance in the shopping mall sector."

Tang Xiaqing breathed a sigh of relief, as if a huge stone in her heart had been lifted.

She gathered her scarf and whispered, "Can you keep our past relationship a secret and not tell my colleagues? I don't want it to affect my work."

Gu Zhian nodded, then slowly said: "Okay, don't worry."

"Thank you."

"It's just that you are still as conservative and cautious as before."

"Is this a disadvantage?" Tang Xiaqing asked.

"Our colleagues in Hong Kong are much more open-minded in this regard, but it's just a difference of opinion. I don't think this is a shortcoming; I think it's a strength." He paused slightly, his tone becoming softer and more sincere. "But, don't worry, I will never hurt you again. Actually, the hurt I caused you in the past was not my intention. Back then... "I heard from your colleagues that you are now Mrs. Huo." Gu Zhian said while looking at the river.

"Yes." Tang Xiaqing responded.

When Gu Zhian heard Tang Xiaqing's confirmation, he looked at Tang Xiaqing with an unclear emotion in his eyes.

The river breeze was still blowing, causing ripples on the river water. The two people under the street light always kept a distance of more than half a meter between them.

After a moment, Tang Xiaqing said, "Mr. Gu, I'll be leaving first. Goodbye."

Gu Zhian nodded slightly, "Okay, goodbye."

Tang Xiaqing turned around and left with a slightly hasty pace.

Gu Zhian looked at her receding back for a long time without moving, until the off-white figure disappeared into the night.

When Tang Xiaqing arrived home, the clock on the wall already pointed to ten o'clock.

She turned on the light and warm light instantly filled the room.

She sat on the sofa, picked up her phone, tapped the screen a few times, and sent a message to Huo Chenjun: "Are you busy? How many days will it take for you to come back?"

After sending the message, she stared at the phone screen quietly.

Not long after, the phone screen lit up, and Huo Chenjun's reply came into view: "It is expected to take three days. What's the matter?"

Tang Xiaqing looked at the message and quickly typed a reply: "Nothing, just asking." After clicking send, she put down her phone, leaned back on the sofa, and closed her eyes.

After sending the message, she put down her phone and went to take a shower.
