Love and choices across time and space

Chapter 45 Yifeng, let’s meet

Ever since Lin Wan'er began to doubt Li Yifeng, she had been plagued by confusion and entanglement. The man she had once considered perfect was now shrouded in mystery, leaving her unable to see through him.

That day, sunlight streamed through the gauzy curtains into Lin Wan'er's room. She woke early and sat at her dressing table, gazing at herself in the mirror. A hint of confusion and fatigue lingered in her eyes. She wore a loose white nightgown, her hair carelessly draped over her shoulders, and her face looked slightly pale.

Lin Wan'er took a deep breath and decided not to run away anymore. She wanted to ask Li Yifeng to verify her doubts. She picked up her phone and called Li Yifeng.

"Yifeng, let's meet." Lin Wan'er's voice was calm and firm.

When Li Yifeng received the call, his heart tightened, but he still pretended to be calm and agreed.

They met at a quiet café. Lin Wan'er arrived first and chose a seat by the window. Outside, the street was bustling with people and cars, but her mind was completely elsewhere.

When Li Yifeng walked into the cafe, Lin Wan'er's eyes locked on him. He was wearing a dark blue shirt and black trousers, his hair neatly combed, and his usual smile on his face. But to Lin Wan'er, it seemed a little unreal.

"Wan'er, have you been waiting for a long time?" Li Yifeng said as he sat down opposite Lin Wan'er.

Lin Wan'er didn't answer his question, but asked directly: "Yifeng, I heard some bad rumors about you recently. Is it true?"

A flash of panic crossed Li Yifeng's face, but he quickly regained his composure. "Wan'er, don't listen to those people's nonsense. They are just jealous of our relationship."

Lin Wan'er frowned, "Yifeng, I want to hear the truth from you. My father seems to be investigating you, and I don't want to be kept in the dark."

Li Yifeng held Lin Wan'er's hand and said, "Wan'er, you have to believe me. My love for you is genuine. Those rumors are all groundless. Your father may have misunderstood me."

Lin Wan'er broke free from his hand. "Li Yifeng, you're still lying to me! My best friend also warned me that you had ulterior motives in approaching me."

Li Yifeng's eyes became anxious. "Wan'er, how can you trust others and not me? Everything I do is for our future."

Lin Wan'er sneered, "For our future? Then why do you always care so much about money on dates? Why do you always avoid talking about your past?"

Li Yifeng hurriedly explained: "Wan'er, I care about money because I want to give you a better life. I don't want you to suffer with me. There's nothing much to say about my past. It's all painful memories."

Tears welled up in Lin Wan'er's eyes. "Li Yifeng, you're still trying to make excuses. I once trusted you so much and thought you were my true love, but now I realize I don't understand you at all."

Li Yifeng felt a little sorry when he saw Lin Wan'er crying, but he knew he couldn't admit it at this time. "Wan'er, don't cry. I will feel bad if you do this."

Lin Wan'er wiped away her tears and said, "Li Yifeng, I'll give you one last chance. Tell the truth."

Li Yifeng gritted his teeth and said, "Wan'er, I'm telling the truth. You must believe me."

Lin Wan'er stood up and said, "Li Yifeng, I'm so disappointed in you." After that, she turned and left the cafe.

Li Yifeng sat there, watching Lin Wan'er's departing figure, his heart filled with fear and regret. He knew that he might lose Lin Wan'er.

Lin Wan'er walked out of the cafe with a heavy heart. She walked aimlessly along the street, recalling every moment she had spent with Li Yifeng. She didn't understand why everything had turned out like this.

At this moment, the sky suddenly began to rain. Raindrops fell heavily, hitting Lin Wan'er. She did not hide, letting the rain soak her.

"Did I really misjudge him?" Lin Wan'er muttered to herself.

Li Yifeng sat in the cafe for a long time. He knew that his lies were becoming increasingly difficult to maintain, but he was unwilling to lose Lin Wan'er and the wealth and glory that was about to come.

"No, I must find a way to make amends." Li Yifeng secretly made up his mind.

After Lin Wan'er returned home, she locked herself in her room. Her parents were heartbroken to see her like this.

"Wan'er, don't be too sad. Dad will help you find out." Father Lin comforted.

Lin Wan'er threw herself into her mother's arms and burst into tears.

For the next few days, Lin Wan'er was immersed in pain. She no longer answered Li Yifeng's calls and refused to see him.

Li Yifeng kept sending text messages to Lin Wan'er, explaining and apologizing, but Lin Wan'er remained unmoved.

"Wan'er, I know I was wrong. Give me a chance to make amends."

"Wan'er, I really love you. Those are all misunderstandings."

After reading these text messages, Lin Wan'er became more determined to break up with Li Yifeng.

At the same time, Lin's father's investigation has made new progress. He discovered more unknown secrets about Li Yifeng, which made him more convinced that Li Yifeng was not a person worthy of trust.

"Wan'er, Dad won't let you get hurt." Father Lin said to Lin Wan'er.

Lin Wan'er nodded, "Dad, I understand."

In this emotional entanglement, Lin Wan'er gradually became stronger. She knew that she had to make the right choice to protect herself and her family.
