Traveling through Thailand

Chapter 3 Getting to Know the Protagonist 1

Sky, standing by, couldn't help but chuckle at the look on his slow-moving deskmate's face. He stifled a laugh despite the stabbing look in his deskmate's eyes: "Yi is still as popular as ever, especially on a special day like this."

After barely translating the meaning of his sentence, Xiao Yi rolled his eyes helplessly. Seeing his expression, Sky smiled even more happily.

Xiao pointed at the piles of food and said, "Is there anything you like? Take your pick."

Sky didn't hold back, picking through the pile of gifts. Xiao Yi pulled a large black garbage bag from his backpack, shaking it with a crackling sound. After he finished selecting, he filled the gaping black bag with batches of snacks. Once all the food was packed, he put it in the corner of the classroom and left it alone.

While eating, Sky looked at the black bag in the corner and asked, "Are we still sending it to the orphanage today?"

"Ah."

"That's true, but I can't go with you today." Before Xiao Yi could ask, he continued while chewing on chocolate, "I've made an appointment with a friend to go out and play together."

Xiao Yi took out a novel about magic and flipped through it. "Does it mention where to go?" The novel was a huge hit in China, and after being adapted into a television series, it became even more popular abroad. The anime that followed it was also quite good. If he weren't currently abroad, he'd think it wouldn't be a bad idea to occasionally follow a star.

"No, they said it was a secret."

Without even looking up, Xiao Yi asked, "Those people you introduced last time? Didn't you say they had bad looks and we shouldn't hang out with them?" Xiao Yi turned the page and continued reading, not noticing Sky's awkward expression. He had met those friends before, but Sky had sensed he had some issues with them, so he'd just dragged them along.

"I know, but I don't have many friends, and I don't want to lose them." Sky's face had become melancholic since some point, no longer as cheerful as when they first met. He was afraid of losing, and wanted to hold on to what he had.

"You're just too gentle." Then, she pulled out a red string from her bag, adorned with a pale blue water bead. "I don't know where your destination is, but even boys need to protect themselves." He unexpectedly learned of his parents' divorce, and from that day on, Xiao Yi felt his deskmate was no longer carefree, a feeling of abandonment. So, when he stopped refusing favors, he began preparing this bracelet, hoping to be there to protect him the moment he was asked.

Sky took the bracelet and was very happy: "This is the first time you gave me a gift, I like it very much."

Xiao Yi took a moment from the book to look at him, and seeing his worthless excitement, he curled his lips: He is indeed still a naive child, who can be easily deceived by any good thing.

"Don't be so happy too soon. Wait until I finish explaining its function, and then you can decide whether to bring it or not."

His eyes were filled with pure stupidity. This kind of innocent child is most easily tainted and is also the favorite target of those who fall into the abyss. She retracted her gaze and stopped looking at his starry eyes. "This bead has a positioning function. If you are in danger, call me and I can use it to locate you."

"Positioning?" Sky looked at the small bead in disbelief after hearing his explanation: "Such a small bead actually has a locator installed in it?"

"Do you think it's scary?"

"No, I know Yi is a good person. And you also told me the ability of this bead, which also gave me the right to refuse."

Facing his eyes full of belief, and making sure there was no reluctance, Xiao Yi picked up the novel and said, "Okay. Remember to call me if there are any problems you can't solve."

"Okay, I understand." Sky nodded firmly, even though Xiao Yi didn't see it.

Sky and I became friends thanks to the snacks and dried fruits that filled the table every three days, as well as his simple and helpful personality. Our transition from deskmate to friend was also due to our visits to the orphanage every few days.

Thinking of this, Xiao Yi's eyes drifted to a corner. Suddenly, he realized that since she's good-looking, gets free snacks, and can increase the friendliness of one of the protagonists in this world, she doesn't seem so annoying after all. How about sending some to the company as snacks for those girls?

Think about those tall and fair ladies in the company, and their drawers full of snacks: forget it, forget it, they don’t lack food, so don’t make trouble for yourself.

Time passed by little by little. After finishing the novel "The Devil's Path," he picked up another book by the same author: "The Self-Help Guide." He couldn't stop crying after reading it. Of course, he wasn't being abused, but rather being amused by the protagonist's witty quips.

Ah, what's with the saying "Master knows, Master understands, Master is happy"... Hahaha, he finally suffered. Hahaha, this master is truly a useless person, hahaha. Just this plot alone could make me laugh at this master for a hundred years. Back when I was a role model in the world of immortals, this wouldn't have happened. If someone set their sights on me, hmm, it all depends on whether their forgetfulness potion is effective. Think of the N+N+1... people I've sent away. Sigh, I've lived so long, I've lost count. As expected, my damn charm overshadows even the most powerful masters in the world of immortal cultivation.

Xiao Yi, who was reading and fantasizing, was brought back to his senses by a shrill scream of "Ahhhhhhhhh, Ahhhhhhhh, Ah Yihei..." He picked up his phone and started walking out before answering the call. He clicked the answer button and said as he walked, "Don't be afraid, I'll be there soon."

Arriving at the garage, he started the car and immediately drove off to his destination. He picked up another phone and called the police, sending the necessary information. The whole process was so frightening that Sky, who was hiding in the bathroom, fearing Gun would come looking for him any second, said in a daze, "Yi, you..."

"Why did you call the police?"

After a long while, Sky finally said, "Yeah."

"Silly, isn't it normal to call the police when you're in danger?! I knew something was wrong when I saw you with injuries and no smile on your face. And then I happened to come across you arguing with that guy, and I started investigating everything about him."

Thinking of how he endured silently and only found himself when he could no longer avoid me, Xiao Yi stared ahead: "Sky, you are my only friend in Country T. I have been waiting for you to share your joys and sorrows with me. I hope you can treat me as your best confidant, someone you can talk to about everything and confide in when you don't know what to do."

Sky, on the other end, burst into tears as he listened to his words. He regretted his own concealment, his cowardice, and even more so, his failure to firmly reject Xiao Yi and call him the first time he was abused. But back then, he'd truly been in love with him, and he'd thought it was just the kind of relationship between lovers. Until... until this time, when he wanted to be with someone else, he realized he was just a toy in his hands, a toy he could manipulate at will.

"I know you're afraid that I might be prejudiced against you. After all, I'm from Dragon Country, and I might not necessarily accept gay love. But Sky, I've clearly seen you in person, so why can't you trust me a little more?"

"Magic? What is that??"

Hearing his question, Xiao Yi's heart skipped a beat: "Don't tell me you don't know the magic way, oh, I remember I told you the name of the novel I read."

"Very hot?"

"Of course, it's a big hit in Dragon Country, otherwise I wouldn't have bought it to read."

"Ah! I don't know." Tears hung on his eyelashes, threatening to fall. Sky recalled the cover of the book he had held recently. He was sure that there were no other characters on the page except Chinese. He thought it was just an ordinary Chinese novel.

"..."

"..."

Both of them were speechless. Even though they were not in front of each other, they could imagine each other's speechless and embarrassed expressions.

Xiao Yi thought of many possibilities but he didn't expect this to be the reason. He thought about himself reading a BL novel in front of him, and the big words on the cover of the book... Well, he made a mistake. It was all his fault for not buying the one with an image on the cover.

Sky's eyes, wet with tears, blinked as he recalled all of Xiao Yi's unusual behavior since he got a girlfriend. Then he smiled heartily, tears welling up in his eyes: "No wonder he always had a novel to read back then, and he kept reciting the words to him." He just thought he was teaching him how to pronounce the words, and didn't think anything else about it.
