HP Star Shining
Chapter 159
"Stay right there, Hagrid!" a wizard near the fence shouted, catching sight of them and clutching the chain. "They can breathe fire twenty feet, and this Treecrest Dragon can forty. I saw it."
"It's beautiful," Hagrid said softly.
"That won't help!" another wizard shouted. "Cast the Stunning Spell. I'll count to three, and then we'll do it together."
Harry saw that each of the dragon trainers had drawn his wand.
"Faint!" they cried in unison.
The stunning spell shot into the dark night sky like a rocket, and the sparks fell on the fire dragon's thick scales like a shower.
The fire dragon closest to them began to stagger, its mouth wide open, roaring silently. The flames in its nostrils suddenly went out, but still emitted smoke.
The mighty dragon, weighing several tons and with jet-black scales, slowly fell over and finally collapsed to the ground with a loud bang. The huge noise shook the trees in the forest.
"Want to take a closer look?" Hagrid asked Madame Maxime excitedly.
They both walked towards the fence, Harry immediately following.
The wizard who had warned Hagrid to stay away turned around, and Harry recognized him as Charlie Weasley.
"How's it going, Hagrid?" Charlie panted, coming over to talk to them. "They've been sleeping all the way. I thought waking up during the night would make them feel better. You see, they're not happy."
"What kinds of creatures have you got here, Charlie?" Hagrid stared at the black dragon closest to him with an almost worshipful look in his eyes.
The Black Rathalos's eyes were still slightly open, and Harry saw a thin glint of yellow light beneath its wrinkled black lids.
"This is the Hungarian Treetop," Charlie introduced. "The small one over there is a common Welsh Green Dragon, the silver-blue one is a Swiss Shortnose Dragon, and the red one is a Chinese Fireball."
Charlie looked around and saw Ms. Maxime strolling around the enclosure, carefully gazing at the unconscious dragons.
"I didn't expect you to bring her, Hagrid." Charlie frowned. "A warrior shouldn't know what he's facing. I think she'll tell her students, right?"
"I just thought she'd be happy to come and see it." Hagrid shrugged, his eyes still fixed on the dragon on the ground in fascination.
"What a romantic date." Charlie said helplessly.
"This guy is not to be trifled with. The front of it is as dangerous as the back." Charlie pointed to the tail of the Hungarian Tree Peak Dragon. Harry saw that the long tail was covered with long bronze spikes.
Charlie finished speaking as his fellow dragon trainer brought a blanket containing a nest of huge, granite-gray dragon eggs and carefully placed it next to the Treecrest Dragon.
Hagrid groaned, unable to suppress his inner desire.
"I counted them, Hagrid." Charlie gave him a stern look and then asked, "How's Harry?"
"Not bad." Hagrid was not scared by Charlie's eyes, and still stared at the dragon egg.
"I really hope he's safe after facing this danger." Charlie looked worried. "I didn't dare tell Mom what their first competition was about. After the article in the Daily Prophet was published, Mom burst into tears."
"'He's still crying for his parents', I had no idea." Charlie shrieked, imitating Mrs. Weasley's tone.
Harry felt he couldn't stay any longer.
He believed that Hagrid's heart was already filled with the four charming dragons and Ms. Maxime, and he would not miss him anymore.
So he turned quietly and started walking towards the castle.
He saw what he was about to face, but he couldn't tell whether he should be happy. The initial fear had passed, but if he had known it before the game, he might have fainted in front of the whole school.
His weapon was a wand, but it seemed like a small stick compared to the dragon he was dealing with—a fifty-foot-tall dragon covered in scales and spikes, with fire spitting from its nose.
Harry's thoughts raced as he quickened his pace, sprinting along the edge of the Forbidden Forest. He had to reach the common room fireplace within fifteen minutes, eager to talk to Sirius.
Just then, he was caught off guard and bumped into something hard, falling backwards.
Harry quickly pulled the Invisibility Cloak tighter around him.
A voice nearby said, "Who is it? Who is there?"
Harry checked the cloak to make sure it was fully encased, then lay still, glancing up at the blurry outline of the person he had just bumped into.
He recognized the goatee, Karkaroff.
"Who's there?" Karkaroff asked again, looking around suspiciously in the woods.
Harry remained motionless, not daring to breathe.
After a minute or so, Karkaroff concluded that perhaps some small animal had bumped into him, and he crouched down and looked around to see if he could see anything.
but no.
So he crouched down and moved quietly towards the dragon under the cover of the woods.
Harry knew exactly what Karkaroff was going to do.
He slipped off the big ship just to find out what the first competition was about.
Hagrid and Madame Maxime were still there, and they would be easy to spot.
Karkaroff could easily find the dragons by following the direction of the sound. Like Madam Maxime, he knew what the first warrior requirement was.
In that case, Cedric is the only one who has to face the unknown.
Harry hurried to the castle, snuck in through the front door, and began climbing the marble stairs.
He was exhausted and out of breath, but he didn't dare slow down at all. There were only five minutes left before he met Sirius.
When he finally passed the Fat Lady's portrait, the common room was empty.
Harry pulled off his Invisibility Cloak and sank into an armchair in front of the fire.
The room was dimly lit, the only source of light coming from the flame in the stove.
On a nearby table lay the badge the Creevey brothers were trying to tinker with, its inscription fixed to "Potter Stinks."
Harry's eyes returned to the stove and he nearly jumped when he saw Sirius's head squarely in the center of the flames.
Fortunately, he had seen this method at the Weasley family during the summer vacation, so he was not afraid. Instead, a smile from the heart bloomed on his face.
Sirius looked completely different from what he remembered.
When I last said goodbye, he looked thin and gaunt, his long black hair tangled and unkempt. Now his hair was short and neat, and his cheeks had become fuller, making him look younger.
He is closer to the young and handsome best man in the photo.
