Chapter 868 Bravely Crossing the Suspension Bridge

The moment Zhang Hao stepped onto the suspension bridge, everyone's eyes followed him closely. The bridge swayed violently under his weight, emitting a chilling creaking sound. The sound was like a call from hell, terrifying and heart-wrenching. Zhang Hao's face was solemn, and he took each step with extreme caution. His feet tentatively searched for a relatively stable wooden plank, his hand tightly gripping the hilt of his sword, which had turned slightly white from the excessive force he exerted.

From the abyss beneath the bridge, gusts of cold wind howled, as if dragging him into endless darkness. Within that darkness, countless pairs of greedy eyes seemed to hide, waiting for him to stumble and fall. Zhang Hao dared not look down. He could only stare straight ahead, silently praying that the rickety suspension bridge would support him to the other side.

The woman nervously covered the little girl's eyes, afraid to let her see this terrifying scene. Her heartbeat was like a rapid drumbeat, each beat filled with deep fear. The little girl sobbed in her arms, her body trembling. "Don't be afraid, don't be afraid, baby, it'll be okay," the woman soothed softly, but her own voice trembled.

Lingyu and the mysterious man stood at the bridgehead, watching Zhang Hao's every move intently. Lingyu's hands unconsciously clenched, her knuckles turning white with tension. The mysterious man's eyes were sharp, as if he was calculating the risks of Zhang Hao's every move.

The old man clasped his hands together and prayed silently. His lips trembled slightly as he muttered something, hoping that God would bless Zhang Hao to reach the other side safely.

When Zhang Hao reached the middle of the suspension bridge, a plank suddenly broke, and he instantly lost his balance. At that moment, time seemed to freeze, and everyone gasped.

"Be careful!" everyone cried out in unison. Their voices echoed in the valley, filled with endless fear and worry.

Zhang Hao reacted quickly, stabbing his sword into the nearby rope to steady himself. Beads of sweat covered his forehead, trickling down his cheeks and into the bottomless abyss. He gasped for breath, secretly congratulating himself on his quick reaction.

Finally, Zhang Hao successfully reached the other side. His legs gave way, and he nearly collapsed, but he managed to stand firm and shouted to the crowd, "This side is safe for now. Come over here one by one." His voice was hoarse from excessive tension.

The woman took a deep breath and said, "I'll take the little girl over first." Her eyes were firm. Although her heart was filled with fear, she had to be brave for the little girl.

She held the little girl close and carefully stepped onto the suspension bridge. With every step, she could feel the bridge tremble, and her heart leaped into her throat. Her steps were so light, as if each one was treading on the edge of a knife.

Just as they were about to reach the middle, a strong wind blew, and the suspension bridge swayed even more violently. The wind whistled in their ears, like the devil's laughter.

The little girl burst into tears. "Don't be afraid, honey, it will be over soon," the woman consoled her, a hint of tears in her voice. But she quickened her pace, with only one thought in mind: to reach the other side as quickly as possible.

Amidst everyone's anxiety, the woman and the little girl finally reached the other side without any danger. As soon as the woman stepped onto the shore, she collapsed on the ground, gasping for breath, tears streaming down her face uncontrollably.

Next came Lingyu, who was agile and quickly crossed the suspension bridge. His movements were light, as if he was walking on flat ground.

The mysterious man was the last one to go up the bridge. When he was halfway up, the rope of the suspension bridge suddenly made a "bang". The sound was like a bolt from the blue, making everyone's face turn pale in an instant.

"Not good!" Zhang Hao's face changed drastically. His heart was in his throat again.

The mysterious man didn't panic. A flicker of determination flashed in his eyes. He leaped forward with all his might, his body arcing through the air. Amidst the crowd's exclamations, he successfully made it to the other side.

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief, as if they had experienced a life-and-death test.

"We can't stay here for long. Let's get going," Zhang Hao said, his voice tinged with urgency.

They continued along the road, which became increasingly rough and difficult to walk on. The trees on both sides were tall and gloomy, their branches intertwined, blocking out most of the sunlight and making the road seem particularly dim.

Suddenly, a low roar came from the front. Everyone stopped in their tracks, their hearts filled with vigilance.

"What is this?" There was a hint of fear in Lingyu's voice.

"I don't know, but everyone be careful." Zhang Hao gripped the sword tightly in his hand and walked forward slowly.

I saw a huge monster walking out of the shadows. Its body was larger than any monster I had encountered before. Its fur stood up like steel needles, and its eyes flashed with blood-red light.

"Get ready for battle!" Zhang Hao shouted.

Everyone took up their fighting stances, and a new fierce battle was about to begin...
