Rise of the Otherworld.

Chapter 705: Crisis at the Fork in the Road

Everyone tensed at the strange sound. Zhang Hao gripped his sword tightly and cautiously walked toward the fork in the road, taking every step with extreme caution. "Everyone, be careful," he said in a low, serious voice, his eyes filled with vigilance. The sword trembled slightly in his hand, as if he too sensed the impending danger.

The woman followed closely behind, gathering a magical light in her hand. The light was like a bright star, illuminating the surrounding darkness. Her heartbeat was rapidly accelerating, but her face remained calm, ready for any emergency.

The old man whispered, "Be careful and don't act rashly." Although his voice was not loud, it was full of majesty and experience, and the staff in his hand was flashing with mysterious runes.

The herbalist swallowed, gripped his stick tightly, and looked nervous. His forehead was covered with sweat, and his legs were shaking slightly, but he still stood there firmly.

The man in black robe stood in place, observing his surroundings vigilantly, magic power surging secretly around his body, ready to deal with any emergency at any time.

As they approached the fork in the road, the sound became clearer, like the heavy and rapid breathing of some creature. The breathing was like a call from hell, terrifying.

The little girl hid behind the woman, trembling and shaking. "Sister, I'm scared," she cried, clutching the corner of the woman's clothes tightly.

Zhang Hao looked into the fork in the road and saw a pair of red eyes staring at them in the darkness. Those eyes were like burning fireballs, filled with violence and murderous desire.

"Not good!" Zhang Hao exclaimed, stepping back quickly. His face turned pale and his heart skipped a beat.

The creature instantly burst forth from the darkness. It was a gigantic, two-headed monster. Its body was as massive as a mountain, its two heads ferocious and terrifying, their sharp teeth gleaming coldly. Its body was covered in hard scales, each one as solid as a shield.

The monster opened its bloody mouth and pounced towards everyone, spewing out a foul stench that made people nauseous.

Zhang Hao swung his sword to block the attack. "Everyone, disperse!" His voice was filled with urgency and determination. The sword collided with the monster's teeth, sending up a shower of sparks.

The woman cast a spell, and the light struck the monster, but it didn't seem to cause much damage. The magic light left a series of faint marks on the monster's scales, which disappeared in an instant.

The old man threw out a talisman, which turned into flames and burned towards the monster. The flames burned on the monster's body, but the monster just roared and shook its body, and the flames went out.

The monster roared in pain, then attacked them even more frantically. Its claws swung, stirring up a gust of wind, and each attack was filled with deadly threats.

The herbalist tried to attack the monster's legs with a stick, but was swatted away by a claw. "Herbalist!" Zhang Hao shouted. His eyes were filled with worry. He tried to rescue the herbalist, but the monster held him tightly.

At this critical moment, the little girl suddenly rushed out.

"Don't hurt them!" the little girl shouted. Her voice was childish but full of determination and courage.

Miraculously, the monster stopped, a hint of doubt in its eyes. Its two heads tilted, as if it was thinking about something.

Everyone was stunned and didn't understand what was going on.

Zhang Hao took the opportunity to take a breath, "Little girl, you..."

The little girl walked towards the monster, stretched out her little hand, and gently stroked the monster's scales.

The monster actually lowered its head meekly and let out a low whimper.

"This...what is going on?" the woman said in surprise.

The little girl turned her head with a smile on her face, "It's my friend."

Everyone looked at each other, unable to believe what they saw.

At this moment, a more violent tremor came from the depths of the tunnel...
