Rise of the Otherworld.

Chapter 556 Difficult Exploration

After defeating the monster, they continued searching for a way out of the cave. The cave was filled with a bloody and rotten smell that made their stomachs churn. The smell was so strong it seemed to become tangible, enveloping them tightly and making it nearly impossible to breathe.

Zhang Hao, sword in hand, walked cautiously ahead, taking every step with extreme caution. "Everyone, follow closely! Don't get separated." His voice echoed through the empty cave, tinged with nervousness and unease. His eyes scanned the surroundings warily, the sword in his hand trembling slightly, a result of excessive tension and fear of the unknown.

The black-robed man supported his injured body, gritting his teeth and persevering. His face was pale, and beads of sweat rolled down his forehead, but his eyes remained firm. The herbalist's unexpected fall made him extremely anxious, and he wanted to find an exit immediately. "Hurry, we must find the herbalist," he muttered to himself, his steps stumbling slightly.

The old man was panting heavily, his staff trembling slightly. The recent battle had drained him of a great deal of his spiritual energy. His face was exhausted, but he still managed to keep his spirits high, illuminating the path for everyone. "Watch your step, don't step on any traps," he warned everyone.

"Look, there seems to be a passage there," the herbalist said, pointing to a dark corner. There was a hint of hope in his voice, as if he saw the dawn of escape.

Everyone walked in the direction he pointed. The passage was narrow and rugged, only wide enough for one person to pass through. The stone walls were covered with wet moss, making it easy to slip.

"I'll go take a look first," Zhang Hao said, squeezing sideways into the passage. His body rubbed against the stone wall, making a rustling sound.

The passage was thick with fog, and Zhang Hao could only grope his way forward by feel. The mist blurred his vision, and every step was filled with unknown danger. Suddenly, he felt his feet go empty and he fell. "Zhang Hao!" the people behind him exclaimed. Their voices echoed in the passage, filled with fear.

Fortunately, Zhang Hao reacted quickly, stabbing his sword into the nearby rock wall and stabilizing himself. His heartbeat accelerated rapidly, and cold sweat broke out on his forehead. "It's okay, there's a cave below, be careful," he shouted, his voice trembling.

The others carefully passed through the passage and arrived at the cave. A pungent odor filled the air, like a mixture of rotting corpses and poisonous herbs. Strange lights flickered on the surrounding walls, flickering and giving people a chilling feeling.

"This place is too weird," the black-robed man couldn't help but say. His voice echoed in the hollow, trembling slightly.

"No matter what, we have to find a way out," Zhang Hao said firmly. His eyes revealed an unyielding will. Although his heart was filled with fear, he knew that retreating was useless.

They continued to move forward in the cave, the ground beneath their feet shaking from time to time, as if something huge was approaching. Every vibration made their heartbeats accelerate and their nerves tense.

"Oh no, I'm afraid there's danger again." The old man's face became very serious. His eyes were filled with worry, and he gripped the staff in his hand even tighter.

Before he finished speaking, a group of ghostly shadows came rushing in from all directions. They were extremely fast, like ghosts, making them difficult to grasp.

"Prepare for battle!" Zhang Hao shouted loudly. He brandished his sword and rushed towards the shadow.

The sword collided with the shadows, making a clanging sound. However, the shadows seemed to have no substance, and the sword's attack had little effect on them.

The man in black robe also displayed his unique skills. His weapon flashed across the air, but the black shadow easily avoided his attack.

The old man continued to cast spells, and rays of light shot towards the shadows, but they could only temporarily block their progress.

The herbalist was anxiously looking for the weaknesses of the black shadows, his eyes moving quickly between the shadows.

Their physical strength was constantly depleting, while the shadows continued to appear. Everyone's heart was filled with despair, but they still did not give up, desperately resisting the shadows' attacks.

Just when they were about to collapse, Zhang Hao suddenly discovered the pattern of the black shadow's movements.

"Attack their heads!" Zhang Hao shouted.

Hearing this, everyone concentrated their efforts on attacking the black shadow's head. As expected, the black shadow's movements began to slow down.

After a fierce battle, the shadows were finally driven back. They collapsed to the ground exhausted, gasping for breath.

"We have to leave here quickly." said Zhang Hao.

They struggled to stand up and continued to search for an exit in the cave...
