Rise of the Otherworld.

Chapter 2: A First Glimpse into Cultivation

Lin Yu settled down in the village. Every day, he worked diligently, helping the villagers with whatever work he could. Whether he was working in the fields or helping the villagers repair their houses, he never complained of being tired. His diligence and kindness gradually won the villagers' sincere love, and they gradually treated him as one of their own.

That day, Lin Yu was working in the fields as usual. The scorching sun hung high in the sky, and sweat dripped down his forehead, soaking the ground under his feet. Suddenly, a loud noise came from not far away, breaking the silence. Lin Yu put down the farm tools in his hands, frowned slightly, and a hint of doubt surged in his heart. He quickly walked over to check.

It turned out that a few warriors from other places were bullying the children in the village and snatching the prey they had just caught. The children tightly guarded their harvest, their eyes full of fear and helplessness. Seeing this scene, Lin Yu was filled with anger. He shouted: "What are you doing? Let them go!"

The warriors turned their heads and saw Lin Yu. They showed disdain on their faces and smiled contemptuously: "Boy, don't meddle in other people's business. Be careful not to get into trouble."

Lin Yu did not flinch at all. He straightened his back and said with a firm look: "Do you still have a conscience to bully children in broad daylight?"

One of the burly warriors frowned, his face trembling with flesh, and walked forward, swinging his fist and hitting Lin Yu. The fist came with a whistling sound and was fierce. Lin Yu subconsciously dodged to the side, and was shocked. He didn't expect these people to move so quickly.

At this moment, the system voice in Lin Yu's mind sounded: "Host, start the combat analysis mode."

Instantly, Lin Yu saw the opponent's movements and flaws, as if the whole world had slowed down. He saw the right moment, dodged, and kicked the warrior in the knee. The warrior screamed, his knee buckled, and he lost his balance and fell to the ground in dismay.

Seeing this, the other warriors glared and rushed towards Lin Yu. With the help of the system, Lin Yu dodged and moved nimbly, like a ghost. He seized the opportunity to counterattack, each move accurately hitting the opponent's weak spot. Soon, several warriors were beaten black and blue, crying out in pain, and finally fled in panic.

The children cheered and surrounded Lin Yu, their faces filled with excitement and gratitude. The villagers also gathered around and praised Lin Yu. Lin Yu smiled with satisfaction and felt a sense of accomplishment. But at the same time, he also deeply realized that in this world where the strong prey on the weak, only by possessing strong strength can one protect himself and those around him.

At night, Lin Yu lay in bed, tossing and turning, unable to fall asleep. The battle scenes of the day kept appearing in his mind. He asked the system: "Can I practice?"

The system's calm yet resolute voice echoed in his mind: "Host, after testing, you have spiritual roots, but they have not yet awakened. As long as you find the right method, you can embark on the path of cultivation."

Lin Yu was overjoyed when he heard this, as if he had seen a ray of light in the darkness. From then on, he began to ask around for news about cultivation. He asked every passerby, not missing any clues.

Finally, one day, he learned from a passing merchant that there was a hermit living on a mountain not far away. It was said that this person had great magical powers and might be able to help him awaken his spiritual roots.

Without hesitation, Lin Yu decided to head for the mountain immediately. He packed his bags, bid farewell to the villagers, and embarked on a journey filled with uncertainty. Along the way, he encountered many dangers. The dense forest, with its thickets of thorns, scratched his skin; the steep peaks, with their jagged rocks, threatened to fall off the cliffs with a single careless move. But Lin Yu's gaze remained firm, his faith unwavering.

After several days of arduous journey, Lin Yu finally reached the top of the mountain. There, he saw a simple thatched cottage. He took a deep breath, calmed himself down, then slowly walked forward and gently knocked on the door.

After a while, the door opened and a white-haired old man appeared in front of him. The old man's eyes were deep, as if he could see through everything. Lin Yu knelt down and saluted, sincerely begging the master to awaken his spiritual roots for him.

The expert looked him up and down, a hint of admiration flashing in his eyes: "Boy, you can find this place, it can be said that you are destined to be here."

Hope ignited in Lin Yu's heart and his eyes were full of anticipation.

The master nodded slightly, stretched out his palm, and slowly injected a powerful force into Lin Yu's body. Lin Yu felt a sharp pain all over his body, as if countless insects were gnawing at his body. Every inch of muscle and every bone was enduring immense pain. But he gritted his teeth, clenched his fists tightly, and dug his nails into his palms, trying not to cry out.

After an unknown amount of time, the piercing pain gradually disappeared, and Lin Yu felt a cool breath flowing through his body, nourishing his meridians.

The master said slowly: "Your spiritual roots have awakened. What happens next depends on your own luck."

Lin Yu was filled with gratitude and knelt down to thank him again. Then he stood up, bid farewell to the master, and with a determined light in his eyes, he embarked on a new journey.
