The President's Tender Trap

Chapter 29 Su Wan's Struggle

Su Wan sat by the office window, gazing out at the bustling streets, her mind a blank. Sunlight streamed through the glass onto her desk, its warm glow failing to dispel the gloom in her heart. Ever since learning that photos of Lu Ming and his ex-girlfriend had been leaked, Su Wan felt torn. She wanted to trust Lu Ming, yet feared being hurt again.

She closed her eyes, and her mind raced back to every moment she'd spent with Lu Ming. His smile, as warm as a spring breeze when they first met, seemed to instantly dissolve all her worries. The tacit collaboration they'd shared during team-building activities, the sweet atmosphere of their first date, even the support and encouragement Lu Ming had given her in her work—all these memories mingled, leaving her feeling even more complicated.

"But that was all in the past. Is he really trustworthy now?" Su Wan kept asking herself. She recalled the photo of Lu Ming standing with his ex, the smile on his face that made her heart ache. She couldn't help but wonder if Lu Ming truly had such deep feelings for her, or was he just playing a perfect role in front of her? Ever since their relationship blossomed, she had been trying to trust him, but this incident had shattered all her confidence.

"Can I really handle this?" Su Wan muttered to herself, her fingers unconsciously stroking the papers on her desk. She thought of her friends, especially Lin Xiaoyu, who had repeatedly urged her to face her feelings bravely. But now she didn't know where to start. She wanted to talk, but she was afraid of being misunderstood. The inner struggle made her feel suffocated.

Su Wan decided to put Lu Ming's situation aside for now and focus on the work at hand. However, despite her efforts to keep herself busy, she couldn't help but worry about her relationship with Lu Ming. Whenever she saw her colleagues laughing and joking, she would feel a surge of loneliness and helplessness. She knew Lu Ming was not a frivolous person, but this misunderstanding had made her trust in him fragile.

Time slipped by unnoticed, and in the blink of an eye, another week had passed. Su Wan still hadn't had a proper talk with Lu Ming. Whenever she ran into him at the office, she would deliberately avoid him, her heart filled with resentment and anger. Lu Ming silently observed her changes from the sidelines. Although he was extremely anxious, he also knew that Su Wan needed some space.

"What should I do?" Su Wan buried her head in her hands, feeling helpless. As she recalled her time with Lu Ming, the conflict within her became more pronounced. Their relationship was so beautiful, yet the misunderstanding felt like a wall separating them. She feared falling in love again and getting hurt, yet she didn't want to give up easily.

One night, Su Wan was drinking with Lin Xiaoyu, and under the influence, she finally confided her inner distress to her best friend. "Xiaoyu, I really don't know if I should continue to be with Lu Ming. The pictures of him with his ex make me feel like my whole world is falling apart." Su Wan's voice was filled with helplessness and anger, tears welling up in her eyes.

"Su Wan, you have to believe in your feelings. If you still love him deep in your heart, you should give each other a chance." Lin Xiaoyu looked at her with determination in her eyes.

"But I'm afraid I'll get hurt again." Su Wan shook her head, her heart full of struggle. "I don't know how deep his feelings for me are."

"Love is inherently risky. You can't give up just because of a misunderstanding. The relationship between you is worth it. Try to talk to him and find out the truth of the matter." Lin Xiaoyu patted her shoulder and gave her support.

These words stirred in Su Wan's heart, and she began to realize that perhaps she didn't completely want to give up on this relationship. Although she still had doubts in her heart, she knew that if she wanted to continue, she had to face these problems.

A few days later, Su Wan ran into Lu Ming in the company hallway. Their eyes met, and an awkward atmosphere hung in the air. Lu Ming's eyes flickered with concern, but Su Wan felt unable to respond. She quickened her pace, trying to mask her unease. "Su Wan, wait a minute!" Lu Ming finally caught up, his tone tinged with anxiety.

Su Wan stepped down, her heart tightening, "What's the matter?"

"I want to talk to you." Lu Ming's voice was low and firm, and he seemed to have made a great determination.

"What to talk about?" Su Wan felt mixed emotions. She knew that this conversation might change everything, but she was afraid of the truth coming out.

"About that photo." Lu Ming took a deep breath and said slowly, "She and I are just working together. It's definitely not what you think. I hope you can believe me." Su Wan's heart was in turmoil, and she didn't have time to think too much. She blurted out, "But why didn't you explain it earlier? I've been waiting for you to explain it to me clearly."

"I know I was wrong. I thought time would calm you down, but it made you even angrier." Lu Ming's voice was filled with helplessness. "I really care about you and don't want to lose you."

Su Wan felt a surge of warmth in her heart, but her uneasiness and doubts hadn't completely dissipated. She remembered Lin Xiaoyu's words and decided to give this relationship a chance, but she still felt a hurdle she couldn't overcome.

"I need time." Su Wan said softly, her tone revealing a tangle of firmness and fragility.

"No problem, I'll wait for you." Lu Ming's tone was full of determination. He understood that he had to wait patiently.

Su Wan turned and left, feeling mixed emotions. She didn't know what the future would hold, but at least at this moment, she decided to try to understand Lu Ming's feelings and give them both a chance.

As time went by, Su Wan's inner conflict gradually subsided, and she began to slowly think about her future with Lu Ming. Although there were still thorns on the road ahead, she was willing to take that step and face the uncertainty of her relationship.

However, life is always full of variables. While she was still trying to repair her relationship with Lu Ming, her competitors in the workplace quietly launched a new attack. The emotional challenges between the two are far from over, and new tests are about to come.

After several days of cold war and mutual struggle, Su Wan and Lu Ming finally decided to communicate with each other frankly, trying to repair the rift caused by misunderstanding. However, as they worked hard to rebuild trust, hidden dangers in the workplace quietly emerged.

One morning, Su Wan walked into the office and noticed her colleagues' eyes were fixed on her, and whispers echoed in her ears. She felt uneasy, but also had a strange premonition. Her intuition told her that something was amiss.
