The President's Tender Trap

Chapter 23 Zhang Kai's Advice

As time went by, Lu Ming's heart grew heavier. He knew there was a serious problem between him and Su Wan, but no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't find the right opportunity to resolve the misunderstanding. Every time he saw Su Wan's cold attitude, his anxiety and uneasiness grew. The pressure at work also became more and more obvious, affecting the progress of the project and causing low morale in the team.

In this anxious time, Lu Ming's good friend Zhang Kai decided to take the initiative. He noticed Lu Ming's mood changes. During several gatherings, Lu Ming was always absent-minded, with fatigue and confusion in his eyes. Zhang Kai understood that as a friend, he had a responsibility to help Lu Ming through this difficult time.

"Lu Ming, things seem to be going a little wrong between you and Su Wan lately." One weekend evening, Zhang Kai asked Lu Ming while he was having a drink with him. As they sat in the bar, under the dim light, Zhang Kai looked at Lu Ming with concern in his eyes.

"I don't know what's wrong." Lu Ming's voice was low, his wine glass in hand, his expression dazed. It had been a long time since he and Su Wan had communicated as easily as before, and his heart was filled with bitterness.

"Is there a misunderstanding between you?" Zhang Kai continued to ask, wanting to know the truth. He knew how deep Lu Ming's feelings for Su Wan were and didn't want to see him suffer emotional setbacks.

"I think so." Lu Ming sighed, feeling helpless. "The communication between her and me is almost cut off, and I don't know how to make her trust me."

"Your relationship was so good before, why didn't you take the initiative to explain it clearly?" There was an urgency in Zhang Kai's tone, as if he wanted to push Lu Ming to take action.

"I tried, but she never listened." Lu Ming's voice was filled with frustration. "She seems to be avoiding me. Whenever I try to get close to her, she acts very cold."

"Then you should take the initiative, have a good talk with her, and explain everything clearly." Zhang Kai said firmly, "Your relationship is very strong, and it must not be broken by misunderstandings."

"I know, but I don't know how to start." Lu Ming lowered his head, confusion in his eyes. He wanted to communicate with Su Wan honestly, but he was afraid that his explanation would not impress her and would only make things worse.

"We can think about what to say first," Zhang Kai suggested, a glimmer of hope in his eyes. "You could send her a message and ask her out to talk, at least to break the ice."

Lu Ming nodded, but he was still hesitant. He knew he had to take action, but his fear and insecurity made it difficult for him to move forward. Zhang Kai seemed to see his hesitation and continued, "The relationship between you is worth fighting for. Don't let misunderstandings destroy your future."

"Thank you, Kai." Lu Ming finally raised his head, his eyes firmer. He knew he couldn't keep running away and had to try to repair this relationship.

A few days later, Lu Ming mustered up the courage and sent Su Wan a message, inviting her out for dinner. Although he was still nervous, he knew that only by facing the situation could he regain the tacit understanding and trust they once had.

"Hi." When Su Wan appeared in the restaurant, Lu Ming's heartbeat quickened. He tried to put a smile on his face, but found that Su Wan's expression was still cold, which made him feel uneasy.

"Hello." Su Wan's voice was faint and a little distant. After she sat down, her eyes wandered, unwilling to meet Lu Ming's gaze.

"Thank you for coming." Lu Ming tried to sound relaxed, but the tension in his heart could not be dispelled. "I want to talk to you."

"What to talk about?" Su Wan frowned slightly, obviously not having much expectations for this meeting.

"About that photo and your recent mood." Lu Ming secretly made up his mind and wanted to make things clear.

"I've already told you, I don't want to talk about this." There was a hint of impatience in Su Wan's tone, and she was obviously not interested in this conversation.

"But we can't keep on fighting like this." Lu Ming's voice was filled with pleading, "I don't want to lose you, Su Wan."

"Lose me? Do you think I won't trust you because of that photo?" There was a hint of anger in Su Wan's voice, and her eyes flashed with complex emotions.

"I don't know. I just want you to understand that it was just a misunderstanding." Lu Ming tried to explain, feeling a surge of unease. "Our relationship shouldn't be affected by this."

"But you didn't tell me in advance that you were going to meet her, so I couldn't help but have doubts in my heart." Su Wan's tone gradually softened, but there was still a hint of grievance.

"I was only notified at short notice. I didn't expect to be photographed." Lu Ming's voice was low, his eyes showing sincerity. "If I had known there would be such consequences, I would have told you in advance."

Su Wan's heart trembled slightly, as if she was moved by Lu Ming's sincerity. She wanted to continue to refute, but the uneasiness in her heart was gradually dispelled by his words.

"I just hope you can believe me. I love you, not her." Lu Ming's eyes were firm and his heart was full of expectation.

"I know you love me, but I also need time to digest this." Su Wan finally spoke, with a hint of softness in her voice.

"I'll give you time, but I hope you can trust me." There was hope in Lu Ming's eyes. He knew that trust was the cornerstone of building a relationship, and he was willing to work hard for it.

As the conversation progressed, Su Wan's emotions gradually calmed. She began to realize that Lu Ming was not who she had imagined, and she felt filled with guilt and unease. She understood that this relationship required the joint efforts of both parties to restore the tacit understanding they once had.

"Lu Ming, I think I need to re-evaluate our relationship." Su Wan finally said, a hint of determination in her voice. "I will try my best to trust you."

"Thank you, Su Wan." Lu Ming felt relieved, his eyes gleaming with hope. He knew that although the road ahead was still full of challenges, as long as they worked hard together, they would be able to overcome everything.

In the days that followed, Lu Ming and Su Wan began communicating more frequently. They began trying to rebuild trust. Lu Ming shared as much of his work and life with Su Wan as possible, letting her understand every decision he made. Su Wan, in turn, tried to understand Lu Ming's situation and gradually let go of her doubts.

However, they still face external pressure, and their competitors in the workplace are always watching secretly, trying to take advantage of the cracks in the relationship to create greater trouble.

"We must be more careful to avoid being caught." Zhang Kai reminded Lu Ming at a party, with concern in his eyes.

"I know, but I believe Su Wan will support me." Lu Ming's tone was full of determination. He understood that only by working together could they meet the challenges of the future.

Despite the hardships ahead, Lu Ming and Su Wan's relationship gradually healed through their continued efforts. They both realized that only by facing difficulties together could their relationship become stronger. With Zhang Kai's support, Lu Ming finally found the confidence and courage to continue fighting for Su Wan and their relationship.
