Kasha's gaze was like a tempered blade, piercing Wu Ye's face.
"Wu! You came back with such a big fuss and brought such a stinky thing (referring to the prisoner), and that little Irene was injured like this! What happened?! What kind of hornet's nest did you stir up in Branwell?!" Her voice was hoarse from drinking and full of uncontrollable anxiety. Irene's injury made her have a bad premonition.
Wu Ye looked at the worry and anger threatening to burst forth from Kasha's eyes. The relaxed expression on his face instantly vanished, replaced by a solemn expression. He took a deep breath, his voice clear and low, each word carrying a heavy weight:
"Kasha,"
"Our Rogge reconnaissance team at the Westmarch border outpost has discovered traces of cultists in the Branwell area."
"They...are preparing some kind of blasphemous ritual."
"The cultists discovered them and tried to silence them!"
"The entire team...except for Irene...was wiped out."
"The murderer is Torien West's henchmen!"
"This bastard is the only one left alive."
"The token is evidence, pointing to Thorien."
"Cultists, summoning hellish creatures."
"The location of his lair is unknown. We need to pry open his mouth."
He spoke slowly, but each short sentence was like a heavy hammer, hitting the hearts of Kasha and the surrounding Rogue warriors who were listening attentively!
"Our Rogge reconnaissance team?! Ambushed in Branwell...?! Totally wiped out?!" Kasha's voice suddenly rose, filled with disbelief and a heart-wrenching pain! This was no longer the loss of a friendly force, but her own soldiers! Her, Rogge's elite scouts!
"Except for Erin...all gone?!"
Her gaze suddenly turned to the frail back of Irene who was being helped away. In addition to fear and relief, her eyes were filled with deep sorrow - that was her daughter, Rogge!
Then, "Thorion West?!" The name made her pupils shrink suddenly! The general of Westmarch! The powerful Crusader!
"Did his minions do it?!" Kasha's voice became sharp because of extreme shock and anger!
"Damn it... How dare he...!! Attack us, Rogge?!" She instantly understood that this wasn't just a simple skirmish, but an operation to silence Rogge's reconnaissance forces! Because her soldiers had discovered a secret that shouldn't have been discovered!
She suddenly squatted down and roughly tore open the prisoner's tattered clothes. Sure enough, she felt the cold, dark red token with the twisted evil eye emblem under his underwear! The token felt heavy in her hand, and the blasphemous emblem was like a venomous snake wrapped around her fingertips!
"Torion... West!!" Kasha gripped the token tightly, her knuckles turning white from the force, as if she wanted to crush it along with the traitor's name! Her body trembled slightly with anger, and her eyes burned with murderous intent and incredible rage like the flames of hell!
"The Great General of Westmarch! How dare he betray humanity?! How dare he do such a cruel thing to our Rogue warriors?!!"
She stood up abruptly, her facial muscles twisted with extreme rage. Her gaze, like that of a ferocious beast, fixed on the captive on the ground, who began to groan in agony! "The location of the lair is unknown?!" she practically roared, her voice shaking the air around them. "Good! Very good!" A terrifying cold light flashed in her eyes.
"Then let me pry open your stinky mouth myself! Let's see where that bastard Torian is hiding! He dares to kill me!"
"Someone come here!" Kasha's voice was like ice exploding, carrying with it unquestionable iron-blooded majesty and deep murderous intent.
"Drag this piece of stinking flesh away! Tie him up with the strongest magic-binding shackles! Lock him in the lowest dungeon! No one is allowed to approach without my order! Give him water and keep him alive! If he dies, the guards will bring his head to me! I will personally judge him!"
Several Rogge guards with sturdy auras and eyes as sharp as hawks immediately stepped forward and lifted up the prisoner with quick and rough movements.
The captive seemed to regain consciousness, his eyes filled with extreme fear, but a guard immediately gagged him with a cloth soaked in a potent paralyzing potion (non-lethal, only suppressing movement and sound). He could only utter a desperate "whine." He was quickly dragged away and disappeared into the shadows at the edge of the training ground.
After dealing with this sole source of leads, Kasha suppressed the rage that threatened to burst forth, but the heavy murderous intent still permeated her like a substance. She turned to Wu Ye, her eyes filled with a complex mix of heartache for her warrior's sacrifice, fury at Thorien's betrayal, solemnity at the unknown threat, and a hint of... heavy praise for Wu Ye's rescue of Irene and the return of the key prisoner.
She stepped forward and patted Wu Ye's shoulder firmly (still with considerable force). Her voice was low and hoarse, carrying a subtle hint of fatigue and grief. "Well done, Wu. To have saved Irene under those circumstances and brought her back alive... you did your best." This compliment lacked the harshness of the previous one, instead carrying a weight of profound gratitude. She knew all too well how difficult it was to rescue someone from such a targeted ambush and recapture the captive.
Then, she scratched her hair irritably, her eyes just habitually sweeping over the skeleton guard (Skeleton Brother) standing silently beside Wu Ye, exuding a strong sense of oppression.
As Wu Ye's "half-master" and Rogge's supreme commander, she was very clear about Wu Ye's ability to specialize in summoning skeletons.
The skeletons summoned by this kid are more powerful than each other. The big guy in front of him is the first one he created, and he is also the most durable and resistant one.
Kasha was no longer surprised. In her eyes, this skeleton was no different from other combat units summoned by Wu Ye. They were all part of his necromancy, a powerful, silent and easy-to-use combat tool.
She wouldn't pay attention to what was special about a skeleton, let alone whether it could speak. Her attention was only on Wu Ye.
"Details," Kasha's voice was commanding, and her eyes returned to Wu Ye's face. "When that brat Irene can speak, both of you come here and tell me everything clearly! What happened to Branwell and how did you escape? Don't leak a single word!" She pointed to the office behind her.
Wu Ye looked at the mountain-like pressure and bottomless anger in Kasha's eyes, as well as the grief that was difficult to conceal, and knew that this iron-blooded commander must be in a destructive storm at this moment.
His own Rogue reconnaissance team was annihilated! How dare Thorien's minions attack Rogue warriors! This wasn't just a provocation, it was a declaration of war!
"I know, old drunkard." Wu Ye responded, his tone becoming much heavier, without the previous teasing.
"You... should calm down. The prisoner is our only lead now. And..." He paused, then added, "The outpost on the Westmarch border is still there. With the Emma commander in charge, those cultists dare not attack by force."
At the mention of Emma, Kasha's eyes flickered with a subtle sense of relief and pride. Emma was one of her most capable subordinates, powerful and experienced. Having her at the border post was indeed a deterrent to any scoundrels.
"Hmph! Those bastards still have some brains! They know Emma is not to be trifled with!" Kasha snorted coldly, but the murderous intent in her eyes did not diminish in the slightest. "But I will remember this blood debt! Thorien... and his lackeys... none of them will escape!"
She turned abruptly and roared like thunder at the Rogue warriors on the training ground, who were stunned by the news and whose eyes were burning with anger.
"Listen up, mother! We, a team sent by Rogge to the Branwell region on a reconnaissance mission, discovered the cultists' dirty tricks! To silence them, they ambushed them!" Her voice was like the roar of a wounded lioness, filled with grief, anger, and endless murderous intent! "Except for Irene! All our sisters...were sacrificed!"
The training ground instantly fell into a dead silence! Then, a deafening roar of rage and indignant howls erupted! Tears welled up in the eyes of the Rogue warriors, who gripped their weapons tightly, their nails practically digging into their palms! Those were their sisters! Their comrades!
"The murderer! It's that bastard lackey of Thorien West!" Kasha's voice was like thunder, igniting the fire of revenge in everyone's heart! "From today on! Train like hell for me! If you don't do well, you might be the next to fall! Three extra hours of training tonight! Anyone who dares to slack off will be court-martialed!" Her words were like the most powerful catalyst, instantly transforming the grief and anger on the training ground into a raging passion! The shouts, the clash of weapons, and the clatter of footsteps were even more violent and desperate than before! The air was filled with the tragic and murderous aura of shared hatred and hatred!
Kasha stood at the edge of the platform, her red cloak dancing wildly in the angry night wind, like a blood-soaked battle flag. She looked toward Westmarch again, her eyes icy cold, filled with deep hatred and endless murderous intent.
"Torien... West..." She whispered the name, her voice like a curse from the Netherworld, "You traitor... I swear... I will tear you into pieces... and make you pay for your blood with blood..." She subconsciously touched her empty waist, where a wine jug should have been hanging to temporarily numb her pain.
She turned abruptly, strode onto the command platform, and shouted at a messenger next to her whose eyes were red and equally grief-stricken: "Go to the cathedral immediately! Tell Lord Akara! Our Rogge team, who was on a reconnaissance mission in Branwell, was ambushed and murdered by cultists! The losses were heavy! The murderer was Thorien West's minion! Wu Ye brought back the key prisoner! Irene was seriously injured! Lord Akara, please be sure to personally treat Irene! And... pray for the sisters who died... to rest in peace!" Her voice was filled with the heaviness of an iron-blooded marshal, infinite grief for the deceased warriors, and great respect for Lord Akara.
The messenger nodded vigorously, his voice choked but extremely firm: "Yes! Lord Kasha!" Then he rushed quickly towards Akara's hut.
Kasha watched the messenger disappear into the night, her tense body swaying slightly. She closed her eyes wearily, took a deep breath, and when she opened them again, only a cold, resolute, murderous intent remained in them, as cold as ten thousand years of ice.
The storm has arrived, and the enemy is hiding in the unknown shadows. And she, Rogge's iron-blooded commander, Kasha, must wipe away her tears, straighten her spine, and lead her warriors to face this war of revenge and survival!
Wu Ye took one last look at Kasha's crimson back, which resembled a blazing battle flag, and temporarily suppressed all the heaviness. He turned and, alone, took weary steps, left the training ground.
The hustle and bustle of Rogue City seemed to be a barrier. Wu Ye felt his steps falter, the tragic scene of Branwell constantly assaulting his weary nerves. His hands seemed to reek of blood. This mission... he had killed too many people. A strong desire guided him—home.
He walked through the streets and turned into the residential area. The familiar path led him. Finally, the warm little house with a small courtyard and a sign on the door that read "Jordan's Blacksmith Shop" came into view. A dim oil lamp lit the courtyard, and from inside, the warm glow of the house shone, accompanied by the faint clinking of dishes—it was dinnertime.
Wu Ye walked to the gate of the courtyard, reached out and gently pushed open the wooden door.
"Squeak-"
The door hinges made a slight grinding sound.
Just as the door opened!
Inside, at the dining table, Betty was sipping Aunt Mia's soup from a small bowl. She sat upright, a look of concentration on her face that belied her age, as if she were deeply contemplating something.
She might have just been discussing with Uncle Jordan the knowledge she learned from Grandpa Kane today about ancient runes, or the characteristics of a certain type of demon - this was the norm under Kane's teaching.
