Demonic Dao Fanfiction: Protecting You from Worries for a Lifetime
Chapter 27: Going out for a night hunt
"Uncle, we're back." Wei Ying's voice sounded outside the door. Chaoyang put down the herbs in his hand and walked quickly to the door.
"Are you having fun?" Chaoyang asked with a smile.
"I'm so happy!" Wei Ying answered excitedly, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "I also brought back a lot of medicinal herbs!"
When Chaoyang heard that Wei Ying had brought back medicinal herbs, the smile on his face froze. Seeing this scene, Yan couldn't help but burst out laughing!
Wei Ying was confused and didn't understand what was going on. He just subconsciously touched his head and asked, "What's wrong? Yan, what are you laughing at?"
"Haha, Aying, you are such a good child." Yan replied with a smile.
"Aying, are you causing trouble for me?" Chaoyang shook his head helplessly, looking at the pile of medicinal herbs in Wei Ying's hand, feeling a little amused.
But Chaoyang just shook his head helplessly, his eyes full of doting, "However, the herbs you brought back must be well classified and stored, don't mix them up."
Wei Ying scratched his head and smiled sheepishly, "Don't worry, uncle, I will be careful."
"Uncle, these herbs are all carefully selected by me. From now on, you don't have to go to collect herbs early in the morning!" Wei Ying explained seriously.
"Okay, okay, I know you're doing this for your uncle's own good." Chaoyang sighed and took the herbs. "But don't bring so many back next time. My house can't hold them all."
"Don't worry, uncle, I will pay attention next time." Wei Ying replied with a smile, a mischievous glint in his eyes.
"By the way, uncle, I have already formed a pill, and I want to go out for night hunting for a while." Wei Ying said suddenly.
Chaoyang was stunned when he heard this, then frowned, "Aying, are you sure? The world outside is not as safe as it is here. You are only eight years old!"
"I know, uncle, but I can't stay here forever." Wei Ying said firmly, "I want to improve my strength by traveling, and Yan also wants to see the outside world."
Chaoyang was silent for a moment. He knew that Wei Ying's decision was a well-thought-out one. Although he felt a little worried, he also understood that the road to growth always required going through ups and downs.
"Since you have made up your mind, your uncle will not stop you." Chaoyang paused for a moment and continued, "But you must take your uncle with you."
"Uncle, are you going too?" Wei Ying asked in surprise, with a hint of joy in his eyes.
Chaoyang nodded, a hint of determination in his eyes, "Yes, Aying. The world outside is complicated and unpredictable. Having me by your side can at least provide you with some protection."
A warm feeling welled up in Wei Ying's heart. He knew his uncle cared for him meticulously. "Thank you, uncle. I feel much more at ease with you around."
"However, Ah Ying, you must also remember that traveling is no joke," Chao Yang reminded him seriously. "Out there, you must learn to think independently, act cautiously, and not rely too much on me."
"I understand, uncle." Wei Ying nodded seriously.
"Good boy." Chao Yang patted Wei Ying's shoulder with satisfaction, "Then let's get ready and set off early tomorrow morning."
Chaoyang wore a bamboo-moon-colored robe with a bamboo pattern embroidered on the hem. Wei Ying wore a Xinglang-colored narrow-sleeved robe, also decorated with a bamboo pattern, which looked neat and tidy. Yan also wore a Xinglang-colored narrow-sleeved robe, also embroidered with a bamboo pattern.
Chaoyang and Wei Ying took Yan with them on their journey to the outside world. Chaoyang had a smile on his face, while Wei Ying seemed a little excited, with curiosity flashing in his eyes.
"Uncle, where should we go first?" Wei Ying asked curiously.
Chaoyang pondered for a moment and replied, "Uncle will follow Aying. Wherever Aying decides to go, we will go there."
Wei Ying's eyes flashed with excitement. He had already planned his itinerary in his mind. "Uncle, I want to go to the nearby Qingyun Town first. I heard that the scenery there is picturesque, but an evil spirit has appeared recently.
, endangering one party, I want to help solve it."
Chaoyang smiled slightly and nodded. "Okay, then let's go to Qingyun Town. But, Aying, you must remember to always be vigilant outside and don't trust strangers."
"Don't worry, uncle, I will be careful." Wei Ying answered confidently.
Following Chaoyang and Wei Ying, they arrived at Qingyun Town. The townspeople were busy, the streets bustling with activity. However, a hint of worry lingered on their faces, evidently caused by the appearance of the evil spirit.
"Uncle, let's go and find out what's going on first." Wei Ying suggested.
Chaoyang nodded, and they walked towards the town's teahouse. The teahouse was bustling with people, a place where all kinds of news converged. They found a corner to sit down, ordered a pot of tea, and began to listen to the conversation around them.
"I heard that the evil spirit appears in the dilapidated temple outside the town every night, and several villagers have disappeared." An old man said worriedly.
"Yes, I heard that some independent cultivators have gone to explore several times, but they returned empty-handed every time." Another middle-aged man echoed.
Wei Ying and Chao Yang exchanged a glance, and an idea came to their mind. They decided to wait until nightfall and then head to the ruined temple to investigate.
As the night deepened, Wei Ying, Chao Yang, and Yan quietly arrived outside the dilapidated temple. The temple was completely silent, with only the whistling of the wind in their ears. They walked cautiously inside, only to see a vague figure looming in the darkness.
"Be careful, Aying." Chaoyang reminded in a low voice.
"Got it," Wei Ying nodded, his eyes determined as he held the Blue Moon Sword. He took a deep breath and slowly approached the blurry figure.
"Who's there?" Wei Ying shouted loudly, his voice echoing in the ruined temple.
The figure suddenly moved and let out a shrill laugh. "Hahaha, two more people are here to die." The voice was eerie and chilling.
Wei Ying unsheathed his sword, a cold gleam flashing. "Evil spirit, stop being so arrogant! Today is your end."
As the battle was about to begin, the evil spirit transformed into a black mist and attacked them. Wei Ying swung his sword, and the sword energy was like a rainbow, splitting the black mist.
However, the black mist followed him like a shadow, quickly recondensing and attacking Wei Ying. Wei Ying immediately swung the sword in his hand, and a sharp sword energy broke through the air and collided with the black mist, making a deafening roar.
"Uncle, this evil spirit is so powerful!" Wei Ying shouted loudly while waving his sword to resist.
"Aying, be careful. This evil creature is not an ordinary thing. It's the Teng demon." Chaoyang reminded in a deep voice, with a serious look in his eyes.
Under the moonlight, the tranquility of Shengshan's ancient forest is occasionally shattered by the screams of night owls, a sound that seems to transcend time and space, carrying an ancient echo. Moonlight gently casts a shadow on the lush trees, swaying and dancing in their shadows, forming a sharp contrast with the alternating green and red lights in the distant valley.
Chaoyang and Yan stood in the forest, facing the Teng Yao, who was engaged in a fierce battle with Wei Ying. Every clash of swords and magic made their hearts beat faster. Every swing of Wei Ying's sword was accompanied by a sharp sword energy, as if to rend the night sky apart. Though powerful, the Teng Yao was forced to retreat repeatedly under his sword, a look of fear on his face. Yan, on the side, assisted with strange fire, keeping the Teng Yao at bay.
However, this Teng demon didn't seem easy to deal with. Its body was incredibly agile, deftly dodging every attack. Even more surprising, it continuously spewed a green venom from its mouth. The venom was highly corrosive, making it difficult to remove once it stained someone.
Yan suddenly shouted, "Ah Ying, be careful." Hearing Yan's warning, Wei Ying immediately dodged to the side, narrowly avoiding the venom sprayed by the Teng Yao. The venom landed on the ground with a sizzling sound, smoke billowing, and deep pits corroded the ground.
"This Teng Monster is indeed cunning!" Wei Ying thought to himself, not daring to be careless. He took a deep breath, channeling his spiritual energy to its full potential. The sword in his hand shone even brighter. He decided not to engage the Teng Monster any further, but to defeat it with a single strike.
"Uncle, Yan, you two, step back!" Wei Ying shouted, and rushed towards Teng Yao like lightning. The long sword in his hand drew a series of gorgeous trajectories in the air, and the sword energy attacked Teng Yao like a violent storm.
Teng Yao saw this, and a trace of fear flashed in his eyes, but he was unwilling to accept defeat. He spewed another cloud of green poisonous mist from his mouth, trying to block Wei Ying's attack. However, Wei Ying was already prepared, and with a flick of his body, he cleverly avoided the attack range of the poisonous mist.
Just when the Teng Yao thought it could catch its breath, Wei Ying had already approached it. The long sword in his hand pierced the Teng Yao's vitals like a meteor, and the powerful true energy condensed on the tip of the sword made a sharp sound of breaking through the air.
With a muffled "Puff!" sound, the long sword pierced Teng Yao's body accurately. Teng Yao let out a shrill wail, his body began to tremble violently, and then turned into a cloud of black mist and dissipated in the night sky.
Wei Ying breathed a sigh of relief, sheathed his sword, and turned to look at Chaoyang and Yan. Chaoyang had a pleased smile on his face, while Yan patted Wei Ying's shoulder in appreciation.
"Aying, your swordsmanship is getting better and better." Chaoyang said approvingly.
Wei Ying smiled modestly, but his heart was filled with a sense of accomplishment. "Uncle, Yan, what should we do next?" Wei Ying asked.
Chaoyang pondered for a moment and replied, "Now that the evil spirit has been eliminated, we might as well stay in Qingyun Town for a few more days to help the people of the town regain their former peace."
Wei Ying nodded in agreement. Thus, they decided to temporarily settle down in Qingyun Town to dispel the gloom that had enveloped the town. Their arrival brought hope to Qingyun Town, and the villagers gradually regained their former smiles.
"Do you want to go night hunting again?" Chaoyang asked while standing at the city gate.
"Of course I have to go." Wei Ying replied hurriedly. It was so hard to get out, so of course he wanted to hide outside and wander around. What's more, night hunting is very interesting!
Chaoyang then set out again with Wei Ying and Yan to exorcise evil spirits for the poor people. Gradually, everyone in the cultivation world knew that a cultivator with profound cultivation was taking his two nephews to exorcise evil spirits for the people.
In areas without the intervention of family forces, the situation was relatively manageable; however, in areas controlled by family forces, the appearance of the uncle and nephew was like facing a powerful enemy. As they traveled, they destroyed many of the family's good deeds and thus made many enemies.
There were also uninvited visitors, but Chaoyang's cultivation was unfathomable, and not only did they fail to gain any advantage, but they were actually beaten severely. The pain was so severe that they began to question their own lives. And since they had already admitted defeat, why would they continue to fight?
As time passed, people gradually began to understand that the uncle and nephew were practical men who would never stop at mere verbal arguments and discussions. Consequently, those who had once harbored vengeful thoughts gradually gave up on the idea, as they had been deeply scarred by the lessons they had received from the three men. Even now, whenever they recalled those past events, they still felt a dull pain deep within their bodies.
While they couldn't take action themselves, they could leverage external forces to achieve their goals. Which force would they choose? Clearly, Wen Ruohan, the head of the Immortal Sect! They dispatched messengers to Mount Qishan, spreading rumors that a lone cultivator of exceptional skill had recently emerged in the world of cultivation, rivaling the might of the former Baoshan Sanren. Wen Ruohan, a martial arts enthusiast, was thrilled to hear this news. He immediately dispatched agents to investigate. Upon learning of the existence of this individual, he left Mount Qishan without hesitation, embarking on a solo quest to find Chaoyang.
When Wen Ruohan found Chaoyang and the other two, no one knew what had happened that day. All they knew was that after Wen Ruohan returned to Buyetian, he became more obsessed with cultivation and often stayed in seclusion.
Looking at Wen Ruohan's stumbling back, Chaoyang couldn't help but sigh, "Aying, did you see that? This is the result of being inferior to others." As he spoke, he lowered his head and looked at Wei Ying, saying seriously, "In this world, only the strong have the right to speak. Only when you become strong can you face everything without fear. Otherwise, you will be like that person. If you are lucky, others can still spare your life, but if you are unlucky, you will never see the sun tomorrow!" Wei Ying was shocked and replied in a deep voice, "Uncle, Aying understands."
Chaoyang shook his head. "It's not enough to just know it. You have to keep it in mind. Also, being strong isn't enough. If you're strong but show weakness, others will use that to hurt you, or even devour you. Therefore, you have to make them fear you."
Watching Wei Ying's pensive expression, Yan spoke up at this moment, "Aying, your uncle means that for those who disobey, you should beat them until they submit, so that they dare not have any improper thoughts about you. Of course, this does not mean that you should rely solely on force. You also need wisdom. Only in this way can you remain invincible in the world of cultivation."
This was a simple and straightforward statement, and Wei Ying understood it immediately. He nodded, deeply agreeing with his uncle and Yan's words. Strength was important, but wisdom and strategy were equally indispensable.
Wei Ying took a deep breath, taking his uncle and Yan's words to heart. He understood that in the world of cultivation, while strength was certainly important, wisdom and strategy were equally indispensable. Only by perfectly combining the two could one truly be invincible.
