Demonic Dao Fanfiction: Protecting You from Worries for a Lifetime
Chapter 11: Finding the Corpse
"Uncle, look at that little boat, it looks real!" Wei Ying pointed at the boat excitedly, his eyes flashing with curiosity and yearning for the unknown world.
Seeing this, Chaoyang smiled and walked over to the stall. After a few words with the owner, he bought the boat and gently placed it in Wei Ying's hands. "This is for you, Wei Ying. May your life be like this boat, brave and unwavering, sailing towards the shore of your heart despite the storms." Chaoyang's words were warm and powerful, his eyes filled with hope and blessings for Wei Ying's future.
Wei Ying took the boat and examined it lovingly, as if it weren't just a toy, but a symbol of his upcoming adventure. He looked up at the rising sun, his eyes gleaming with gratitude and determination. "Uncle, I will!"
The two continued to eat and stroll, sampling the local snacks of Yiling City, such as hot and sour noodles and sugar-coated rice cakes. Wei Ying raved about each one. Chaoyang watched Wei Ying's satisfied expression and secretly decided that no matter what the outcome of this trip, he would make Wei Ying feel the warmth and happiness of home.
As the sun set, the two finally finished their tour of Yiling City. They returned to the inn, washed up, and lay down on the bed to rest. The moonlight from the window streamed into the room, adding a touch of warmth and tranquility to the quiet night.
Wei Ying lay in bed, gazing at the wood grain on the ceiling, his mind racing. He thought about the journey to find his family that would begin tomorrow, a mixture of anticipation and nervousness. He desperately hoped his parents were alive and well, trapped. Yet, deep down, he knew clearly that they might be gone, a feeling of profound loss and grief.
But he also knew that with his uncle by his side, he had support and strength. He closed his eyes and gradually fell asleep.
Chaoyang sat quietly beside the bed, looking at Wei Ying's sleeping face, his heart filled with tenderness and determination.
On the second day,
The morning light was just breaking, and golden sunlight filtered through the window lattice, gently casting a warm glow on Wei Ying's tender face. Chaoyang rose quietly, trying not to wake the slumbering Wei Ying. He secretly planned his itinerary for the day and how to better protect this orphaned child.
Chaoyang quickly washed up, walked lightly out of the room, walked into the lobby of the inn, and asked the waiter to prepare breakfast.
Then, he returned to the room and found Wei Ying awake, sitting on the bed, rubbing his sleepy eyes, his expression slightly dazed. Chaoyang smiled, walked over, gently stroked Wei Ying's hair, and said softly, "Wei Ying, it's time to get up. After breakfast, your uncle will take you to see your parents."
When Wei Ying heard this, he immediately perked up and quickly put on his clothes.
After washing up, Chaoyang looked at Wei Ying's anxious expression and couldn't help but feel a little distressed. He knew that this child was carrying too much expectation and anxiety in his heart.
After breakfast, Chaoyang and Wei Ying left the inn and set out on their journey to find their relatives. The morning in Yiling was exceptionally fresh, the air thick with the scent of earth and flowers. Chaoyang held Wei Ying's hand, and the two walked along the winding path, passing through lush green fields and crossing clear streams.
"Uncle, can we really find my parents?" There was a hint of trembling in Wei Ying's voice. He looked up at the rising sun, his eyes full of anticipation.
Chaoyang stopped, squatted down, and looked at Wei Ying at eye level. He said firmly, "I will."
Wei Ying nodded, a determined glint in his eyes. Chao Yang stood up, took Wei Ying's hand, and continued walking. They passed through patches of woods and arrived at the top of a hill.
Standing on the hill, the view suddenly opens up. The endless mountains in the distance are intertwined with clouds, like an elegant ink painting.
"Aying, please donate a drop of your blood for your uncle." Chaoyang's voice was gentle, yet revealed a firm, unquestionable determination. He gently pulled out an exquisite magic disk from his sleeve. This was a magical instrument used in the world of immortal cultivation to find relatives, and this magic disk was the masterpiece he had hurriedly crafted overnight.
Upon hearing this, Wei Ying's eyes flickered with a hint of doubt, but more so, a sense of trust and reliance on his uncle. Without hesitation, he stretched out his small hand, gently scratched his fingertip, and a drop of bright red blood slowly dripped onto the magic plate. Instantly, the blood seemed to be given life, flowing slowly along the lines of the magic plate, eventually converging into a shimmering pattern.
Chaoyang watched the pattern on the magic disk change, watching it gradually become clearer, finally settling on a distant, vague direction. He took a deep breath, stood up, and said to Wei Ying with a firm gaze, "Wei Ying, we found it! Your parents are in that direction."
Wei Ying heard this, tears flashed in his eyes, tears of excitement and hope. He held Chao Yang's hand tightly, as if holding all his life.
"Uncle, let's go!" Wei Ying's voice was filled with urgency. His small body seemed to contain infinite strength. He pulled Chaoyang and wanted to run towards the distant direction. Chaoyang smiled, his eyes full of tenderness and encouragement. He gently patted Wei Ying's shoulder, indicating that he should be patient.
"Wei Ying, although the direction is clear, the road ahead is not smooth. We must proceed with caution and ensure every step is taken with confidence." Chao Yang's words revealed a calm and cautious tone. He knew that this journey was fraught with uncertainty and danger, and he had to be fully prepared. After all, that was a mass grave!!!
Upon hearing this, Wei Ying nodded, the light in his eyes not dimming. He looked up into the distance, his heart filled with curiosity about the unknown and a longing for family affection.
"We're here." Chaoyang held Wei Ying tightly as they stood on the shabby hilltop. It was a small, unknown hill near the mass grave. The area was in shambles, clearly the site of a fierce battle. Even two years later, the scene remained in disarray.
"Where are they? Where are my parents?"
Wei Ying's voice trembled slightly, and there was both expectation and fear in his eyes. He clutched Chaoyang's clothes tightly, as if that was his only support at the moment.
Chaoyang took a deep breath, his eyes swept around, and finally landed on a ruin half-covered by weeds.
Chaoyang's gaze was fixed on the ruins, a complex mix of emotions welling up in his heart. He squatted down and gently said to Wei Ying, "Wei Ying, your parents might be under these ruins, but we must be careful, as there may still be dangerous formations here."
Upon hearing this, Wei Ying's eyes instantly reddened, but he fought back the tears and nodded in understanding. Seeing this, Chaoyang felt even more pity for this strong yet fragile child. He gently patted Wei Ying on the back, reassuring him, and then pulled out a talisman from his bosom, a magical tool specifically used to detect and dispel formations.
As the talisman in Chaoyang's hand slowly illuminated, the surrounding space seemed gently stirred by an invisible force. The talisman's light swirled above the ruins, finally settling on specific locations where the formations were most concentrated. Chaoyang's face was solemn. He knew that dispelling these formations would be no easy task, but to protect Wei Ying and allow him to see the resting place of his loved ones, he had to give it his all.
He excelled at refining elixirs and weapons. However, he was completely lost when it came to formations. Although he had attempted to learn them, he could never grasp their essence and ultimately gave up. Now, he could only rely on spells to break the formation, but he still harbored concerns, fearing that this might damage the remains below.
He gestured for Wei Ying to step back a few steps, and he himself cautiously stepped into the ruins, covered in weeds and rubble. Each step felt particularly heavy, for he knew that any misstep could trigger a hidden danger. Chaoyang focused his mind, the talisman in his hand shimmering with his thoughts, releasing a soft yet determined light, breaking through the ancient formations one by one.
Time slipped slowly in the tense atmosphere, beads of sweat gradually forming on Chaoyang's forehead, but he didn't stop his movements. Finally, with a slight humming sound, all the formations were successfully dispelled, and the cold aura that permeated the ruins dissipated a lot.
Wei Ying stood not far away, looking at Chao Yang's back nervously and expectantly. When he saw Chao Yang turn around with a relaxed smile on his face, Wei Ying's heart also relaxed, but tears still shone in his eyes, which were the complex emotions of the truth that was about to be revealed.
Chaoyang slowly walked towards the center of the ruins. There was a seemingly ordinary stone slab, but in his eyes, it looked particularly different. He squatted down and gently brushed away the stone slab, revealing the cave below. There were only two corpses hugging each other.
Though the corpse was decayed and its clothes tattered, the image of their tightly embraced hands remained remarkably clear, as if time had frozen in time, forever capturing their moment of mutual protection. Seeing this, Wei Ying could no longer hold back his tears, which fell like beads from a broken string. He stumbled forward a few steps, but didn't dare to get too close, fearing that his recklessness would disturb this peaceful repose.
Chaoyang gently hugged Wei Ying's shoulders, giving him silent comfort. Chaoyang looked at the corpses hugging each other, and he didn't need to look closely to find
The two corpses were covered with scars.
Wei Ying sobbed, his hands trembling as he reached out toward the two corpses, as if wanting to touch them but afraid to do so. Ultimately, he simply rested his forehead gently against the cold stone slab, his tears soaking his clothes and his heart. In that moment, all the anticipation, anxiety, and fear transformed into a deep longing and reluctance to let go.
Chaoyang waited silently by his side, knowing that Wei Ying needed time to come to terms with everything, to digest this sudden revelation. After a long moment, when Wei Ying finally raised his head, Chaoyang saw the determined light in his eyes and couldn't help but feel proud of this child. He whispered, "Wei Ying, your parents would surely be proud of you in heaven. Now, we must do one last thing for them."
Wei Ying nodded, his voice choked but firm, "Thank you, uncle. I'm more than ready."
Chaoyang pulled out an exquisite coffin from his bosom. He had prepared it in advance to hold the remains of Wei Ying's parents. He carefully gathered the bones from the two bodies and placed them in the coffin. Wei Ying watched silently from the side, his eyes filled with reluctance and sorrow.
When everything was packed up, Chao Yang said softly to Wei Ying, "Aying, this is your parents' final resting place. You decide where they rest."
Wei Ying leaned against the coffin, as if he could still feel the warmth of his parents.
"Uncle, I want to bury my parents near home." Wei Ying's voice was weak but full of determination.
Chaoyang agreed after hearing this: "Okay, then we'll take them home."
